Why do many JWs neglect their health conditions?
by navytownroger inmy former bible study conductor has heart problems and very high blood pressure, but doesn't seem concerned about it.
another witness i knew had heart problems but never went to doctors, & eventually dropped dead suddenly.
given that cigarette smoking is a disfellowshipping offense, why aren't jws reprimanded when they otherwise neglect & jeopardize their health?

Can you think of a positive thing the JW's gave you?
by Greensleeves inthis is something that will possibly piss off a lot of people.
i left the jw family i was raised in when i was 16. i had a lot of angst and just wanted freedom.
i spent some time in my early 20's reconsidering that decision to leave jwdom and came back to the decision i made at 16, but was more logical and informed that time around.

they helped me quit smoking weed
they helped me stop obsessing over doing sexual things with girls all the time
i have never understood the bible more
i developed a work ethic
i became more social
i opened my mind to more than just music -- i became ever more interested in history, and politics -- and yes, i looked into much more than just society's materials
i became less jealous, anxious
more calm
focused..
the list can go on, but the negatives... -

Salvation by "works" comes from pagan doctrines--by request!
by Atlantis insalvation by "works" comes from pagan doctrines--by request!
request from researcher: can you tell me where the information is at about salvation by works coming from pagan teachings?
the pastor at our church mentioned that when jehovah's witnesses go out in their preaching work because they are under watchtower "obligation," and don't preach out of a sincere desire or heart condition, then they are being deceived to "work" out their salvation which comes from pagan doctrines.

i find that totally the opposite of my experience.
"I have observed the witness culture as one that likes to keep women reliant upon their men via the headship ethos. A lot I know would not know how to pay a bill. Many know nothing of politics/philosophy etc. Some do, but they are more likely to wind up here."
the only wives i know of that fit this bill are old school (which non-witnesses are mostly the same anyway) or one person i know of was trying to espouse witness beliefs on her non-believing husband, and was overly subjective, imo.
otherwise, wow, i know plenty of independent women. They are mostly childless and pioneers, however. Dont know if theres something to that. -

by Solace1998 inunder copyright law, any song can be legally covered, as long as the proper fee is paid.
so that means i could release versions of kingdom songs?
that would be kind of funny.

Do you feel threatened by....
by Greensleeves indo people here feel threatened by bold posts?
i ask this because it would seem that everyone on this board has an axe to grind, and any "bold" posts that disagree with the majority are ignored.
i have found that most of the posts i made ended threads.
