What did you think about "apostates" when you were JW?
by Albert Einstein ini spent 17 years in jws, first 11 were very zealous.
i feel very stupid now to admitt - but until several months ago i really believed "apostates" and all people who left jws were kind of arogant, nasty, agresive, proud and i was afraid of getting in touch with them.. i remember finding coc book in a bookstore and (since i was very curious...) i touched it (with a great guilt feeling), opend it, and read it for maybe 2 minutes.... i was so afraid it will affect me somehow badly .... and that i will displease god by doing it .... i felt so bad by sining this way .... now i see there are more kind people among those who left, than in wtbs..... i started meeting some "apostates" in my town, i see they are more reasonable and often more spiritual than jws ... it is like coming out of the darkness ...... could you believe i was such an idiot?.
what about your experience?.

You will never overcome your Witness past...
by JimmyPage in... unless you read apostate views.. you may become inactive, like i did, and find a way to assimilate yourself into the normal world.. but you will always have at your core a view of the world that the witnesses gave you.
their basic teachings will still be your world view.. you will never realize you were indoctrinated by a cult.. for those poisoned by jehovah's witnesses there is only one antidote.. there is only one way to understand your life and progress from there.. the only true cure for jehovah's witnesses is apostasy..

Labeling people "worldly"
by JimmyPage inby using the label "worldly" the wt shortchanges people.
the same people it quotes as authorities in its magazines can also be easily dismissed if their opinion disagrees with the wt viewpoint by simply stating that after all, those persons are "worldly".
but those who use this term also shortchange themselves.

I cannot tell you how many worldly people I have told that we call non-witnesses worldly.

Hello Jazz,
Just know that it is very hard to persuade witnesses from what they believe because they are taught not to listen to other people. Your wife sounds like she's really into it too since despite being disfellowshipped and being married to a non-witness, she wants to go back. The fact that I could be disfellowshipped made me not want to be a part of it, so I don't really understand having them do that to you and still wanting to go back..except the fact that you are made to think it is the only true religion.
Good luck

To Quit or Control it....Drinking that is....Who has succeeded and how?
by oompa inthinking about just giving it up....i always revert back to a nightly habit.....and the occasasinal big escape into the bottle.
but of course you can't live there, and it fixes nothing.. because i think i do have a problem, i went to some aa meetings and found them to be too much like wt.
if alcholism is a true disease, then why is it the only one that needs god (or a higher power to cure (or cope with).

Oh my God, that's so weird we all have the same experience with regards to non-Witness relatives that we have ignored and now, at least for me, I'm trying to be like hey, what's up and they probably think it's weird I want to hang out all of a sudden.
