I can't see just kicking your kids out simply because they don't want to live the JW lifestyle. But this shouldn't be confused with enabling your kids to live unhealthy lifestyles. Or to take having your home for granted, just being lazy. Life is tougher these days, it's true, but they should carry their own load in life if they are to ever grow up into responsible adults.
I still hold marriage in high regard, for example. No, I will not provide a bed for one night stands or things that don't meet my own standards of decency. But I would help them in their apartment search, job search, career search or education, with some time limit attached. Communicating with them as adults about this might help them to get a glimpse of maturity.
None of my kids stayed in the religion. We all have good relationships. They are all on their own and each doing well in their choices. You have to consider your own tolerance level and they should respect that.

Pick the low-hanging fruit
by stillin ini happened to be standing nearby when an outside contractor, out of the goodness of his heart, approached a fellow worker and invited him to his church.
the fellow worker is a known problem-drinker and actually, probably could use some discipline in his life.. anyhow, after a gushing account about how vibrant his church is and what a great guy the preacher is, he said that the lord moved him to speak with the problem-drinker.
well, i'm feeling left out, neglected, dejected and finally chimed in.

It's great to find this balance here. Smiddy, the religion helped me to fight my demons too, in my younger years.
I once met a man who told me that he woke up in the middle of the night and there was a blue man standing at the foot of his bed. The blue man was the Lord and he told the man to stop his drinking. He hadn't had a drink since then. Who am I to set him straight, right?

I guess the hard-core atheists tend to dominate. Maybe it's the good manners that the believers have. Nice replies, all.

I happened to be standing nearby when an outside contractor, out of the goodness of his heart, approached a fellow worker and invited him to his church. The fellow worker is a known problem-drinker and actually, probably could use some discipline in his life.
Anyhow, after a gushing account about how vibrant his church is and what a great guy the preacher is, he said that the Lord moved him to speak with the problem-drinker. Well, I'm feeling left out, neglected, dejected and finally chimed in. "Hey, doesn't the lord care about me?" He says, " you're always smiling and happy. I figure you're alright."
I'm thinking, yeh, I'm smiling and happy BECAUSE I made my escape from all of that self-deception. But, I don't want to rain on anybody's parade and I manage to keep my mouth shut.
I actually suggested to the drinker that it might be a good thing. Are you guys going to crucify me for that?

Uber’s ruin everything
by Steel inhas anyone ever been to a jehovah witness social event and you are having a good time till a couple idiots show up and have to twist everything back to the society.
how many pioneers in your cong?.
do you hear about russia?

One pioneer liked to be positive about everything going on in his life. He boasted how Jehovah takes care of His loved ones, indicating how special and loved he must be to Jehovah. I pointed out to him that this sort of talk must be a real put-down to a person who has done his best to serve Jehovah yet he is out of a job and things are tough.
It actually shut him up.

Desensitized by the Bible
by jws ini have an old friend who grew up jw in my original congregation and is now on his latest wife.
unlike the somewhat religious ambivalence of his previous wives, this one he says is right on par with his religious view.
which is very conservative christian.lately, his wife posted on facebook about the horrible things in the world and the roll media takes in desensitizing us.

Good rant, jws! And also a clue as to how the "moral majority" can stand behind such an immoral leadership.

Road to nowhere is probably right. Your phone can be turned into a hot mic. Your "smart" tv is probably capable of making your living room into a stage where you are a player. Your iPad is most likely capable of "spying" on you if you have loaded certain apps onto it.
If you discuss how bombs should be made a lot at home, men in black will be coming through your door.
