Wow, Zeb. I'm jealous. My wife turns the car radio off, always, so that she can inform me non-stop what a lousy everything I am. Silence would be wonderful.

Zeb, some wives are like that. I have to remind myself that just maybe someday, my wife will grow up and take some responsibility instead of blaming everything on me.
I think that you're right about after conventions it was worse. The dramas are filled with really wise and wonderful people dealing with everyday (sarcasm) decisions and here my wife is, stuck with a jerk that isn't anywhere near as spiritual as those people!

The serpent in the Garden can’t be secretly Satan
by Doug Mason inwe know that the serpent in the garden can’t be secretly satan, because the first time satan is mentioned by name is in a story chronologically after this one, and in that, he is said to be walking.
remember that the serpent was cursed to crawl on his belly all the rest of his days, but in the book of job, satan is still walking around and chatting with god as if they’d never had a falling out.
this is when god had to ask satan where he’s been, because his infallible omniscience obviously didn’t know.. so if he had to ask that of satan, who is later described as the lord of lies, then why would god believe him?

Some curse. Crawl on your belly all your lives, serpents! They already do! But Satan had free access to God's throne for thousands of years yet. So he wasn't "crawling" at all. I must be confused.

Self Limiting Beliefs
by abishephard inleft the jw’s as a teenager; as with most exjws i have struggled throughout the years with being a successful adult.
i have recently starting addressing some of the psychological trauma of my childhood, and i wonder if anyone else here can identify with any of these self limiting beliefs:.
- pursuit of wealth is bad (i.e.

Back in the earlier years of the WT, people would get together and discuss their thoughts about various portions of the Bible. Some new thought might seem so astute that one would write a letter to the Society to share what they had found. This was gradually squelched and a "wait on Jehovah" mindset took root. This promoted a lazy and suspicious congregation that frowned on the thinkers.
So the religion not only drew limits on individuals, they drew limits on themselves!

We pray for the governing body
by StephaneLaliberte insince when has it become cool to pray for the gb?
i noticed that at the begining of my fade back in 2015, it had already been there for a good while and was already getting on my nerves.
i means, i grew up in it, but can't remember much further than the 90s and i don't remember this being always in the payers.

The really cool brothers, more in their comments than in prayer, will refer to the FDS as simply "the slave.." sort of like how they used to refer to "the Society" to give weight to their comments.

AFL grand final day Melbourne Australia.
by smiddy3 inwhat a disappointment to see two teams that reach a grand final playoff and for it to be so one sided in the outcome.. i don`t barack for either team ,but i at least expected it to be a tight fought out finish, but it wasn`t to be.114 points to 25 .?.
pathetic.. afl = aussie rules football played in australia for those not familiar with it.. and 100,000 people payed big money to go and watch it,tiger fans would have loved it but not the giants fans .. i watched it for free ?
on my 65 inch tv screen in my cinema room ( a small converted 3rd bedroom ).

WTS Carts Have Competition
by blondie inhttps://www.patheos.com/blogs/thefreethinker/2019/09/in-virginia-american-atheists-upstage-jehovahs-witnesses/.
according to american atheists, their organisation had received multiple complaints that the jws were proselytising outside various government facilities.. said aa’s virginia state director larry mendoza:.
we would rather that government property be free of religious speech altogether.

Such a deadbeat way of "making disciples." They console themselves saying that, actually, the witnessing work is more of a way to "prove their loyalty to Jehovah" than a way of making disciples. Easy answer is that isn't what Jesus said. He said to make disciples, not have children and raise them to believe.

Why Aren`t Active JW`s concerned about WT/JW`s /GB`s ,Revisions of their Own Early History Of C.T.Russell ?
by smiddy3 ini was just thinking about a couple of jw`s who came to my door a few weeks ago and they had no idea who charles taze russell was one woman was in her 40`s and the other was in her late 20`s if i`m any judge of female ages.. and neither of them had any idea of the religions early history or what they taught and what they believed in back then.. and one of the main reasons for that i believe is because the wt?jw religion continually revise their past history according to whatever the current beliefs are held.. if you compare what was believed and taught back in the 1880`s with what is believed and taught today you would find no comparison.. it has completely changed ,sometimes in a subtle way,but no the less changed.. the excuse of "the light is getting brighter and brighter as the day draws near " doesn`t cut it when you consider they stick to the i.b.s.a.
not the jehovah`s witnesses , were chosen as approved by jesus christ as the "faithful and discreet slave class" in 1919 for what they believed and taught back then as the i.b.s.a.
and not the jehovah`s witnesses.. and now the jehovah`s witnesses today do not believe what the international bible students association taught and believed back then in 1919... so how could jehovah`s witnesses today be approved by jehovah / christ jesus as the faithful and discreet slave class when they reject what was approved in 1919 ?

Isn't that the same thing, in principle, as other religions having "pagan roots?"

Another silly Bible story...this time brought to you by Moses
by RULES & REGULATIONS indoes this silly bible story make any sense after you take off your rose-colored glasses?.
moses comes down from the mountain with two freshly made tablets of stone written with the finger of god.
one commandment on the stone tablet reads '' you must not kill/murder.

Samson was another fine piece of work. Tying two foxes together, 300 of them, putting a burning torch on their tails and setting them loose to burn the grain fields of his enemies. It would have been easier and more humane to just go out there himself, but no. He wanted to be cruel to the foxes too.
Another asshole.
