JWs having Facebook Sex - Strongly warned to get off FB at CA yesterday

so it appears that jws are letting their freaky side come out on fb for everyone to see.. there was talk on the ca yesterday strongly warning all true lovers of jehovah to delete their fb accounts.

the talk was solely about fb.

the speaker mentioned that jws are associating with people that would not associate with in real life, often using the excuse that the person is a relative.

These guys have to be real morons. People wanting sex, will have sex. Yes, you can have sex with FB Chat. You can also have 'phone-sex'... now go, cancel your AT&T account, get rid of that phone. They haven't realized this is 2010, not 1945. You can have all the sex you want: Virtual, cyber, real... you pick. Closing accounts, getting rid of computers and gadgets will do no good.

Just like Jesus said about pharisees: They forgot about comforting and building up people's spirituality, and became all about controlling and condemning them.

the jw's annual report has lots of numbers to consider, but this one is probably the most misquoted and misrepresented by them.. 1, 500, 000, 000 hours in the field (note: that's time in the field, not talking to interested ones).

now, they can write their own rules on how to fill out a field service report.

door to door - 8 hours (480 minutes) using the 'dissed rule' of 10% that's 48 minutes of actual talking in the field per month.

Henschel wanted to drop time reporting. Nixing the "Bible Study" report slip wa s his idea (as well and getting rid of one meeting, although he had TMS in mind, not BS. He also wanted two magazines a month (one of each). As you can guess he was not well liked by many of his peers at the GB. As for the tiem slips, accoding to my sources back then, he wanted an "anonymous" reporting system, only with hours and bible studies. That way congregations and WT would now how many publishers there were, how much work was being done while eliminating labels (irregular, inactive) and all the nuisances caused by time keeping. He thought reporting placed literature was very 'salesman' oriented and didn't like it. He always said (and I heard him once) that since we print them, we know how many are being distributed... why make people report 'sales'?

1) Fake time: Most publishers fill their slips after meetings, without looking at any written record. They grab a slip, get a pen, ad then get creative. They make it up. I know several who only go out on saturdays, leave for a two week cruise, miss another saturday due to rain, and then report the same hours as every month.

2) In Urban U.S. in any given month you get to talk to -at most- 5 or 6 people going door to door. Conversations are not very long.

3) Streetwork: shameful! most don't talk to anyobody but each other. Some place a couple of magazines. I go on streetwork twice a week at least 3 of the regulars I have never seen talk to anybody. There's one that has never even placed a magazine. He just goes and chats for an hour.

4) Family Study: WTS changed its long time rule and now allows both parents to count the time. This right there doubles time for most parents, and shows how desperate WTS is to boost numbers.

6) Phone: One talks, 20 watch, all count the time. I know a couple that admits they got for the cookies and coffee; they have NEVER preached to anyone over the phone. This is becoming the most popular for of preaching in our congregation.

Bottom line: It's all about producing hollow, fake numbers

i'm still just trying to understand ..... what is the real essence of why the leaders at the very core of this religion do what they do?

i assume they are all in the 144k, so i get that.

but i mean ... that can't be the entire motivation for all this misery.

Motivation varies widely. But the WTS s a train in march. Anyone on board is either oblivious to the flaws and sincere, or aware but with motivation to stay: fear, doubts, ego satisfaction, empowerment, money, position, prestige.... you name it. In any case, such people are aware they won't be able to 'stop the train' (and as I said, most don't want it to stop).

An analogy, for the sake of clarity: What's in it for the Pope? Ratzinger is arguably the most intelectually prepared Pope of the last 200 years. Doesn't he know they are wrong on many levels? The other day he dared sais the truth about the "Three Magician Kings" (i.e. Not three, not Kings, etc.) and a lot of conservative Catholics went mad. This guy HAS to know half their teachings are pagan stuff. But is a 2,000 years train in march. He ain't gonna stop it. Don't expect him to come out any day soon saying "You know, Jesus wasn't born on Dec 25, so let's nix Christmas"; or "Guys, noweer in the Bible it says clergy can't marry, so let's start dating"... It ain't gonna happen.

To me WTS is pretty much the same: it became mainstream. It won't change. Inertia is the keyword. People who are too vested into the organization won't let it go.

If you still qualify a magazine that's made available for general download from a public web site, as 'secret', this is only proof that JW's don't have the monopoly on stupid people!

recently i asked my wife: if our son one day comes home and says "well, i just joined new religion, we study a publication there, that iam not allowed to show anybody..." how would you feel?

does it sound like a cult?.

wife admitted: that would be scarry..... me: so why do jw have secret wt edition to study, that noone else is supposed to get?.

Mad Sweeney, I'm too tired (or to lazy) to look up the reference, but the KM-s Instructions clearly state that non-publishers that regularly attend, as well as non-publisher young ones can have a copy. I personally give every month a KM to people that attend but are not publishers yet. Maybe Blondie (the queen of WT research) can help me here.

As for the study Watchtower, you are right in that some congos don't have enough. furthermore, some elders are kind of militant about the study issue being for JW's only. But since that's not the official instruction, in many congregations a small supply of spares is kept for visitors. In any case the point I was trying to make is that either publication is secret; they are just 'intended' for JW's, but can be given to those making progress and attending (sorry, I have to go puke after repeating that WT jargoon)

1) Not secret: Those non-JW attending sundays get a copy. You can dowload it @ jw.org

2) JW's ca't keep anything secret. No publication has been 'protected' as much as ks91 (Elder's handbook), and the thing is all over the internet.

3) The 'two-issues' thing has nothing to do with secrecy, or better serving, or all that bull crap they said: its about COST. They used to print 30 millions of copies of 24 issues a year, and nobody was buying. With the new scheme, they print only 7 or 8 millions of the 'study edition'. That's a reduction of roughly 35% with the consequential savings (less trasnportation, less storage space, etc.)
It was a corporate decision, not a spiritual one.

I have not seen or heard ANY instruction saying others are banned from seeing it. If a newbie walks into the KH on a given sunday, he's given a copy.

Someone said that KM is only for active publishers. Wrong. People attending on a regular basis and children are also given one.

If I'm not a member of the "Association of People who hate Jay Leno", why should I get their newsletter? C'mon! Stop seeing ghosts! There's plenty of funded reasons to criticize the WTS, so drop this nonesense.

Name Some Stupid Watchtower Rules or Ideas

there's a lot.. one rule that is dumb is that a brother must wear a suit for a sunday public talk that he is giving.

any other time, the brother could wear a suit coat with a different pair of pants and not be counseled for it.. another dumb idea is that you cannot date a person unless you seriously might marry them.

if you're on a date, you were supposed to always have a chaperone and holding hands might not be allowed as well as sitting together.. what other dumb rules and ideas can you add?.

Don't sit in the same seat for every meeting. Doing so shows poor spirituality.

No jeans during assemblies, even to go out for dinner at night.

Don't wear perfume to assembles; it maight trigger allergies.

Can't put your hand around your spouse's waist or shoulder during prayer.

Don't give kids crayons and/or painting books during meetings; they are suppossed to liste and learn (even if they're 1 1/2)
