  Climate Change - Why are only the negative points presented?

  i was reading some articles from the 1960's through the late 1970's where scientists were concerned about global cooling.

  the articles talked about how the oceans would become more salty as the ice caps grew larger which would wipe out many types of marine life.

  they also mentioned how this would lead to more cool/cold "high deserts" as there would be less water in the atmosphere for rain to develop from.

  The type of climate change we are creating will, not could but will, within a few decades change weather patterns throughout the world. This in turn will affect our crops and whether or not they grow. The corn in Kansas and the wheat in the wheat belt do not give a damn how comfortable you are nor whether manhattan gets flooded. We are looking at megadroughts; flooding, when it does rain-that too has a negative effect on crops; and migration of food growing areas northward.

  Archaeological evidence shows what happens to civilizations when the weather changes beyond a certain point. Jared Diamond's book Collapse just scratches the surface of what happens when nature does it and gives warning of what will happen with the man made version.

  When the "Anointed" Contributed in Numerous Ways

  good morning, fellow jwners:.

  my jw friends and i are discussing the current topic revolving around the downplaying of the anointed remnant's existence and role as contributors to the spiritual growth of the other sheep.. i took very seriously the opportunities i had to aid the many "anointed" whom i knew personally.

  those i associated with were not crazy, self-deluded individuals but very devout christians who helped to ground me spiritually.

  I knew two of them. One was senile.

  The other, a post 1935 anointed, was a socially popular brother. He seemed to be average in his "spirituality". He did not seem to have any connection with the society, was not even an elder. When I asked him how he knew he was anointed he gave a vague answer saying that he could "sense" things like the earth rotating under his feet.

  The anointed class outside of the GB is nothing but a paper tiger

  i just read this coming in from a doctor in texas.

  sammielee24, the reason for shutting down schools-a major focus for any flu-is because this particular one had the potential of killing more than the 50,000 usually elderly people that a regular flu does. That is the level of mortality that is tolerated without shutting down society but if just 10 times the number are threatened, many of them being young, then that is an unacceptable risk.

  He was not concerned about the future which is why people write, to keep a record for future days. He thought the world was going to end almost right away.

  gubberningbody, Propanolol, in my understanding, is effective against PTSD if it is taken within hours or a few days of the trauma. Once the trauma sets in the brain it becomes much less effective.

  The Berean, I've seen one therapist that somewhat understands and I've had one psychiatrist that categorized me as psychotic simply because I explained to him how the witnesses treated me.

  do things almost sublimilinally?......and though you cant stand to bear the consequenses of losing all friends and family......you so want to be free and grow that you are reckless?......oompa.

  Yes. Even though I was young and somewhat naive I approached an elder on a matter that I knew would get me disfellowshiped. It was not a doctrinal matter per se but could be considered a challenge to the "FDS". Even though I had asked to speak to one elder another one, the congregation hatchet man, came in uninvited.

  What troubled me was how they called themselves "The Truth". I told them that I believed they had the truth absolutely (A slight fib but mostly true) but that since Jesus called himself the Truth, the Way, and the Life it would be inappropriate to take that phrase as a title no matter how theologically correct they may be.

  I knew that was going to get me disfellowshipped and it did. Deep down inside I wanted to get disfellowshipped but not for anything rather for an issue, any matter of integrity. I was skipping meetings, having anxiety attacks in field service. I was deeply, subliminally as you said oompa, planning and preparing for the boot. I had other conflicting desires like disassociating myself since there is more dignity in that but I was reckless in writing a letter to the hatchet man that told him in no uncertain terms what I thought of the Faithless and Indiscreet Master.

  i was offered a journalism scholarship at ohio state ... mom made me turn it down cause "armageddonwas near"... ended up a janitor!

  Yes and yes. I got into the JWs during the 1970's and you can figure what that was like. If I had my life to live over again I would become a paleoanthropologist blowing of dust from neanderthal bones.
