I knew that conservatives were going to self congratulate themselves on the non accomplishment of "changing" Obama's speech. That line about "helping the President" is the only thing that was changed and I consider it to be trivial. As for Journey On being a moderate, that is something Rush Limbaugh has said of himself. It seems, JO, that you've swallowed the Obama as arch-demon line. And, oh, other than being Socialist and wanting to brainwash our kids he's now being accused of wanting to force circumcision on infants. When will it be realized that a sizeable portion of this nation is turning psychotic in the clinical sense of the word?

QUESTION TO JW REGARDING THE DOCTRINE OF 144,000

i am not a jehovah's witness, and until yesturday i never knew the beliefs of your congregation.

when i did finally read them, i was amazed to discover that most of what the lord has revealed to me as truth, through my prayers and studies, is found in your beliefs.

and out of all the christian denominations that exist, "most" of your beliefs are according to the word of god, unlike the other churches.. .

Celestial Frontier, I'll try to make this explanation of the 144,000 Jehovah's Witness doctrine as brief as possible. I apologize if somebody else brought it up because I have not had time to read the whole thread.

The JW founder, Charles Russell, had what I would call a doctrine of spiritual aristocracy. In his worldview there were four categories of humanity that would make it into the millenium, one superior to the other. Two of those 'classes' were to abide in Heaven and the two others on a paradise Earth. The first class was the 144,000 who would rule over the Earth. They were to be assisted by the Great Multitude who were considered spiritually inferior to the 144,000 but still worthy of the 'Heavenly hope'. I could go on about the Earthly 'classes' but I think you get the picture. This belief was held a hundred years ago by the JWs.

Later on the second president of the JWs simplified this class distinction of saved humanity into two groups. The 144,000 in heaven ruling the Great Multitude ('Crowd' in their NWT of the Bible) on Earth. The same inferiority/superiority distinction remains.

What I missed out of his speech is his master plan to: Bump off granny; put your defective baby through the shredder; brainwash your kids from kindergarten to high school; and how he was smuggled from Kenya to the USA so he could convert us all to Islam and tattoo 666 on our genitals.

Did I miss this out of his speech or is this just a bad dream?

Pray -Jehovah will save you...or let you die depending on "his will." Please Explain?

witness yearbooks are full of experiences where jehovah saved a poor witness who prayed for help...and the soldiers walked passed and did not see them etc, etc.

however, other brothers prayed and still got executed by gillotine so...why does gods will allow such things?

isn't this just random chance put down as god's will?

007, this paradox(?) can be found in all theistic religions (with the exclusion of Deism). It is pure egocentricity and rationalization. At no time does the believer think, once his life has been spared, that the reason he was left behind was because God hated or despised him and couldn't bear to see him at the pearly gates or paradise.

angel eyes, in Christianity it is a person who is "The Truth" not a body of teaching.

Angel eyes, they were talking about anyone who brings up the slightest deviation from their teaching or even goes to the authorities to reveal pedophiles.

In my case I simply and humbly told them that they should not use the phrase "The Truth" with reference to their organization even if every doctrine, teaching or practice were true for the simple reason that Jesus was refered to as "The Truth, The Way and The Life". But as I noticed before the JWs had a dozen phrases and out of context scriptures in which they put themselves in God's/Jesus' place. That is blasphemy on their part.

As far as the organization being "protective" it is keeping their members from even having small discussion groups. That is a common procedure in totalitarian regimes.

Get a job bagging groceries and use the money to buy old Watchtower literature. Then investigate, INVESTIGATE, INVESTIGATE your religion. And getting out of it shall be the beginning of your life.

Angeleyes, what you would never say has been said by your organization. In a recent study watchtower we were demonized to the point that we were accused of having no empathy for people and that we were just like Satan, the first apostate.

Get savvy angeleyes. Do some research about them.
