apparently jack barr, member of the gb, has given a new interpretation of the generation in one of his speaches i.e.
that the generation can apply to those who knew someone who lived in 1914..... will it never end????

ok, im putting my neck on the line here but ive always believed that children should be raised to make their own choice, if to serve jah or not.. i wasnt ever forced to believe in anything, any religion etc, although my background is very complicated.. anyway, hubby and i have always thought that how can a child decide if they dont know what other things are, ie birthday partys, halloween etc.
so, our children are allowed to choose if to go places etc.
last year our little boy said he didnt want to go to a halloween party, this year he said he might.
i take it you havent ever been a jw then. Thats clearly obvious, because you would understand how important it is to raise children knowing bible principles AND having freedom of choice rather than being raised without choice, as some on here have. That's why they understand why we have raised our children this way.
I've read enough. As you and probably many here can attest to I usually don't get involved in these discussions - but recently have found the stuff you're posting to be beyond just exaggerating or just mistaken, but quite frankly misleading and not true.
The exact OPPOSITE of what you stated is true:

The above has been my expereince as well as the experience of dozens upon dozens - even hundreds of Jehovah's Witnesses and ex-Jehovah's Witnesses I personally have known. That is besides the hundreds of other cases and stories I have read of others. I was a Jehovah's Witness for over 30 years, born into the cult-like organization and finally as well as thankfully left it "officially" in May of 2008. Your choices are limited to further the agenda of the Watchtower Society, being dictated to you as being the will of Jehovah and cooperating with his spirit-directed organization. You're made to feel guilty and not being spiritually strong if you were to have your attitude in the organization. You would be told to have a rebellious spirit and even possibly preventing Jehovah's Holy Spirit from working on the congregation. That IS what I have seen, heard, experienced in numerous accounts both direct and indirectly.

Those are not mutually inclusive statements. Many would argue they are complete opposites. Being a JW for most means listening to the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses seeing them as being God's sole channel of communication as they dispense 'pearls of wisdom' through the publications and instructional discourses owned by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.
You and your hubby is a jw who according to your statments obviously pick and choose what Watchtower Society counsel and direction to follow. This as many jehovah's Witnesses knows shows a disobedient/rebelious spirit towards "Jehovah's Organization" [per the Watchtower Society].

Sorry, but your questioning has to be addressed first:

What you're really stating based on your previous postings is "...to serve Jah the way the Watchtower Society interprets it or not"
You further state...

Again, what you are really stating is "He knows why we don't choose to do them but he also knows the way the Watchtower Society says Jehovah wants to be served when he's older because HE wants to, not HAS too."
Unfortunately, for many there will be little to no choice. He is being indoctrinated through methods and techniques employeed by cults. His whole world, family, and friends will be centered around the teachings and beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses and dictated through the pages of the Watchtower Society's publications and talks. Do you sincerely want him to make a choice? Stop having him so heavily indoctrinated and influenced by the Watchtower Society when he is a child. When he is an adult and mature enough to make such a heavy decision and weigh all the pros and cons and the arguments for and against Jehovah's Witnesses, then support him regardless of choice. Ensure he is fully exposed to all information on Jehovah's Witnesses and make an educated decision.
That would mean letting the children decide.

i used to look at the old stuff as info that the witnesses were progressively understanding.
i didn't hold it against the witnesses if they changed understandings because after all the 'light was getting brighter and brighter".. as time went on, it did start effecting me.
there were too many things i'd let slide by when i was younger that i just couldn't ignore any longer.
The doctrine changing is still not a big issue for me per se. I would be much more bothered if they realized that one of their teachings was against the Bible yet they continued teaching it.
How about if the 'changing doctrine' including going back to an old/previous position, and calling it "new light"?

However, 13 years later the light becomes brighter again and in 1980, Jehovah's Witnesses are taught Organ Transplants are no longer cannibalistic but a conscience choice, which is actually returning back to their previous stance in 1961.

The number of times the Watchtower Society's teaching changes concerning the resurrection of the Men of Sodom is staggering. The above does not read as divine direction, "brighter light" coming from Jehovah, just an organization haphazardly guessing and arbitrarily deciding what to teach.

So the "Superior Authorities" were Worldly Governments or Authorities from 1886-1929. From 1929-1962 new light flashed forth making the "Superior Authorities" Jehovah and Jesus. Then finally more new light flashing forth brought the teachings of “Super Authorities” to Jehovah's Witnesses from 1962 onward back to the original teaching of 1886.

From an analysis of the Watchtower Society’s teaching concerning "This Generation" as recorded in Matthew, it was first ‘correct’ in 1927. But brighter light caused it to become an incorrect teaching of a couple of different things over the course of 81 years, only to return back to the original ‘correct’ 1927 teaching.
The above "changing doctrine" are a HUGE part of what made me leave the Watchtower Society controlled Jehovah's Witneeses.

I have attended congregations in the Bronx, and both lower and middle Westchester counties in New York.
Men can not have sideburns passed the ear lobe. - ENFORCED STRONGLY.
Women can NOT have their legs exposed in the summer time, must wear stockings - ENFORCED.
Men can NOT have beards or goatee's, not even lightly/nicely trimmed ones - ENFORCED STRONGLY.
Must have suit jacket buttoned if on stage - ENFORCED LIGHTLY.
This is inclusive of my experiences from the 1980's thru 2008 (When I DA).

So this "new light" wouldn't necessarily be a change from the current teaching but a "refinement" [I almost threw up in my mouth]. It is still the Anointed just a second group of Anointed. Regardless, why the incorrect "light" in 1942 and 1995? Jehovah goes back to leading his organization to a teaching from 1927 in 2008? Riiiggghhtt...

Like many, I wouldn't say "ruined" but certainly manipulated and influenced for both better and worse. There certainly are worse lots in life. However, there were many lost opportunities, happy occassions as well as cutting off of family and friends as a result of being both in and out of Jehovah's Witnesses. But then again, who knows how things would have evolved without it.
Anyhow, I am extremely happy and grateful that my wife and me are out. Thankfully, her parents have joined us, and sadly my parents and siblings have not and as indoctrinated by the Watchtower Society are shunning us (My father was talking to us for a whlie but I think the pressure and choices between talking to us and dealing with all the aggrivation and issues or not talking to us and continue coping with the rest of the family in the cult has become too much).
To sum up, no it wasn't ruined but definitely manipulated and controlled, leaving life-long scars and damage.
