  Sex crime conviction

  In 1977, Polanski, then aged 44, became embroiled in a scandal involving 13-year-old Samantha Gailey (now Samantha Geimer). It ultimately led to Polanski's guilty plea to the charge of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.

  According to Geimer, Polanski asked Geimer's mother if he could photograph the girl for the French edition of Vogue, which Polanski had been invited to guest-edit. Her mother allowed a private photo shoot. According to Geimer in a 2003 interview, "Everything was going fine; then he asked me to change, well, in front of him." She added, "It didn't feel right, and I didn't want to go back to the second shoot."

  Geimer later agreed to a second session, which took place on March 10, 1977 at the Mulholland area home of actor Jack Nicholson in Los Angeles. "We did photos with me drinking champagne," Geimer says. "Toward the end it got a little scary, and I realized he had other intentions and I knew I was not where I should be. I just didn't quite know how to get myself out of there." She recalled in a 2003 interview that she began to feel uncomfortable after he asked her to lie down on a bed, and how she attempted to resist. "I said, 'No, no. I don't want to go in there. No, I don't want to do this. No!', and then I didn't know what else to do," she stated, adding: "We were alone and I didn’t know what else would happen if I made a scene. So I was just scared, and after giving some resistance, I figured well, I guess I’ll get to come home after this".

  Geimer testified that Polanski gave her a combination of champagne and quaaludes,a sedativedrug, and "despite her protests, he performed oral sex, intercourse and sodomy on her", each time after being told 'no' and being asked to stop.

  Charges and guilty plea

  Polanski was initially charged with rape by use of drugs, perversion, sodomy, lewd and lascivious act upon a child under 14, and furnishing a controlled substance (methaqualone) to a minor. These charges were dismissed under the terms of his plea bargain, and he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.

  how are the JW's viewed from the outside?

  i know while in the org we get told alot to tell everyone that we are jw's, cos its reputation is so good.

  but that dosn't explain why people still refuse to answer the doors to them, or hide when they come aknocking.. so how are jw's really viewed by the outside world?.

  "No birthdays or birthday parties! That sucks."

  "Ohhh, you were one of those?!"

  "Huh"

  "You don't seem...."

  "Weird"

  "Aren't they the ones who don't celebrate Christmas and Halloween? How was that growing up?"

  "Did you have to go knock on people's doors?"

  "Oh, so your Mom is still in. That explains a lot."

  Those are some of the questions and comments that have come up over the years.

  Very few people have said anything positive, though, to be fair, I have been told "They seem like nice people when they come to our door". I tell them that looks can be very deceiving.

  i met two sisters while i was walking my dog.

  The Victim reached an out of court settlement with the Convict, so her opinion is clouded by money.

  And, her opinion in a criminal procedure is meaningless. Totally meaningless. It is a criminal procedure. The fact that he reached a settlement says a lot.

  He is still a convict and a rapist.

  But he is also an award winning Director, so that means a lot doesn't it?

  When stuff like this happens I always wonder who stands to benefit by the action after this length of time because the man has not been hard to find and could have been arrested many times over from what reports are indicating.

  Should Priests and JW Elders and anyone else who rapes a child get off because it happened 30 years ago?

  Or, just because the person is famous and lived freely in Europe?

  The media is implying that he actually paid a price because he has not been able to come to the US freely to make movies. Boo hoo.

  Would any of you who are seeming to turn a blind eye to his crime be saying this if he were a former JW or a Catholic Priest?

  Of course not.

  The hyprocrisy is stunning.

  Here's a positive: the company shirt sizes run big so I'm wearing a medium. It's the first time in my life I can wear a medium.

  Now look at that, already you're thinking positively.

  See what coming here and griping does for the soul?

  And when you think it can't get any worse, picture the people who are making your day miserable naked. That is usually all it takes to get a smile from me.

  Or a grimace. Depends on the age, weight, etc. At the very least, you'll forget what made you miserable for a few minutes.

  So, how do I get these Quotes into a nice Birthday card I can send to my Mom? Just to get her to think.

  She is, of course, a die hard, JW.

  I don't want to overwhelm her.

  Do you think this would? In that format?

  All kidding aside, the fact that there are no biblical quotes is especially telling.

  Falling Asleep at Work

  so who has a job that is boring enough to fall asleep at?

  i've never yet fallen asleep on the job, but it would be very esy to do so based on how inane most of my work is, despite the fact that i actually do use my brain.

  sometimes it's just so dry and technical i can't keep it up.. i have a nice fancy chair that leans back to my specifictions of resistance, so it would easy to tilt back and snooze a bit.

  Figures. It had to be too good to be true. However, in a pinch, it seemed to get the job done. For those days when you just have to take a nap (and are at work where there are no nap facilities), it might work.
