If the first name is good enough for The Heavenly Big Guy, why not for the earthly spawner?

I'm so sorry for what you went through. As meangirl noted above, the JWs do seem to attract the crazies. Believe me, I understand that. And the anger you feel for your mom.
My sister holds an extreme amount of anger towards our mother for making us go to meetings, out in FS, etc. There is much more, but, suffice it to say that she will never, ever forgive our mother for being a JW and rubs it in her face any chance she gets. It has eaten her alive. My sister that is. Literally. She is dying now with cancer and can't remember why she is so mad at our mom. It is heart breaking.
I haven't forgiven our Mom either. However, I try not to let it eat at me.
Then again, I guess if I were over it I wouldn't be on this board. It is very helpful to read stories similar to mine. Hopefully time will have the desired result. Good luck on your legal issues.

Hello and Welcome to the forum!!
I like Mr. Falcon's analogy of North Korea: The JWs are like the North Koreans. Kept cold, hungry and not given any outside information. They are told that the outside world is evil and bad. There is just no good way to look at it. Stepford Wives. Robots.
When you see that smiling lady at work, look around you more as you go about your day. You'll see lots more smiling faces. They don't want to harm you. They aren't evil. They just want to live their lives. Like most average Joes out there.
As noted above--try to get an education. Once you have that no JW can ever take it away.
Good luck.

Has anyone knocked on your door recently?
by dysfunction ini am a housewife, and no one has knocked on my door to spread the "truth",not even on the weekends.
question, has anyone experienced this... or has the preaching work slowed down?
or are the witnesses less active, zealous?.

When did the JWs endorse joining political groups? Oh, yeah, they didn't.
Why would a Baptized JW (admitted by him, Brett Wager) be a part of the University of Florida College Republicans? As the Treasurer no less?
Link:
http://www.ufgop.com/?page_id=14
That alone would get one DFd. No Neutrality there.
So, something is suspicious.
Personally, I think it is great if a JW gets an education. More brains to them. I, unlike BOTR, didn't go to an elite school and paid for it myself. Education cannot be underrated. Going to college gave me the opportunity to excape the b0rg.
Brett either wants to get kicked out or is not a JW (or is a troll). Just my opinion. I am entitled to that, am I not?
Can your IP address give data you might not want out? I am not an IT wiz, so, that is a guess.
Here is a Blog from a JW page, they are suspicious of him being an Apostate!!! He apparently sent the same Poll to a JW FB page, asking for their *help*. JWs trust is hard to gain, as it is here:

Just wondering what your thoughts might be on this e-mail I received and if this was sent to everyone on your FB page:
Brett Wager 01 February at 07:14 Report
Hello Anne,
My name is Brett Wager, and I am a fellow Jehovah's Witness. I am also a senior undergraduate student at the University of Florida and I am conducting a research study. The purpose of my research is to identify the political personality of Jehovah's Witnesses. I received your name and information from the JW Facebook page. You are eligible to participate in this survey strictly because of your known membership with Jehovah's Witnesses.
You will be asked to participate in a survey that will ask politically themed questions. The survey should take no longer than 10 minutes of your time and all responses will be kept confidential to the extent provided by law.
There are no anticipated risks, compensation or other direct benefits to you as a participant in this interview, except your own ability to increase society's knowledge of Jehovah's Witnesses. Your participation is entirely voluntary.
Help me out, please?3 comments:

- Is he really one of Jehovah's integrity keepers? Would he really be found in this position of asking such a question KNOWING our politics are theocratic only, not of this world? I would remain silent like the Christ when he was questioned about his views.

- I have had a brief exchange of comments with this person and believe he is an apostate . He knows something of the societies meeting arrangements. Profile on facebook, is a fan of politics,is inspired by politicians who ruled against us and dictators such as Napoleon Bonaparte. A timewaster or worse . Hope this helps as to your decision. Agape

Very similar to JWs. Big difference is the clothing. They are allowed to blend into the surroundings. JWs are made to stand out--similar to Mormons.
Creepy overall. Amazing that with all the available info on cults etc., they are sucked in.

If this survey is really through the University of Florida, why is the survey through Survey Monkey? Odd that.
This survey also gives no option for No Opinion or Not Applicable. Which any legitimate Poll or Survey would. Having the option to not answer is critical. This lack of will skew the result. Which will render his results useless. A college student, especially an honors student, should know.
Perhaps he's working on the Ministerial Servant program.
Yes, call me over suspicious. I don't trust JWs who show up on Apostate DBs with polls asking DFd and inactive ones (calling them defected) if they'll fill out a poll for an honors thesis research.
He's proved only that he can't be trusted. <shrug>

I am sure that no JW would take this survey.
Why would an Ex-JW?
This is a fraud IMO. Something just doesn't seem *right*. IMO.
An *in* JW coming to an Apostate site, claiming to be a University student who is going to go to law school?!
WTF?!
Quote:
Polling defected JW's is simply a portion, not the focus, of my thesis. I am seeking to see how former members feel about the same issues I am polling active JW's about. For example, I am already seeing a hard-line difference between active and defected member's feelings about whether religion has a place in the bedroom, the literalness of the Bible, homosexuality, and abortion.

Seriously, how many JWs will answer these questions except in general converstion? NEVER!!
And when did Defected JWs become a term anyone uses?

Are you a *defecting* JW? Or are you a serious JW who is curious how JWs who've been DFd and/or left for any number of reasons think and feel?
Your wording is curious. Are you planning on a career in Bethel?
