My Mother
i was watching the news when the first plane hit the first tower.
cnbc actually.
the news people couldn't believe it was happening and thought it was a small plane that went off course.
Very beautiful pictures Dogpatch.
Thank you for those.
be sure to watch the entire clip.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vuishm5kaq.
.
The second clip, with Kirk and the midget--that's gold.
The kiss--gotta give a thumbs down on that one. You try that on most women and you'll get a knee to the groin.

Deputy Dog, thank you for your service.
That is humbling.

And at 9:59 am, the south tower collasped. Unthinkable.
Watching the ash fall on people on the ground and seeing them wipe it off their faces as they cried, again, on live TV, as I cried with them, I will never forget.

I was watching the news when the first plane hit the first tower. CNBC actually. The news people couldn't believe it was happening and thought it was a small plane that went off course. They went to live news on NBC and Katie and Matt were on saying it had to be a small plane. It had to be a Cessna they said.
About 15 minutes later as they were watching from across the river with the CNBC cameras, the second plane was shown flying into the second tower-it was obviously a large plane.
Over the course of the next hour they showed people jumping from the buildings on live TV. Watching the people on the ground, the shock, the disbelief, the horror, etc., was nothing compared to what the people actually on the ground and in the air went through. New York, DC, Shanksville.
I cried for days afterward. I couldn't get those images out of my head. Watching the people who went through that, live on TV, was just terrible. I would be driving and suddenly start to cry when I thought about it.
Every year, when they read the victims names, I listen and cry again.
my mom knows my position on not being a jw anymore, and we have a pretty good relationship after some rocky patches.
my younger sister is the only one that is still a jw, my older siblings had all left many many years ago, and my younger brother and his family has left now as well.
we have had a few non birithday, birthday parties in the past, no candles on the cake, no singing happy birthday, but just all getting together as a family and having a good time.
Cool!
I'm more into the Mickey Mouse Club myself
Must be that generational thing going on:
when you think back at how boring being a witness was, it's amazing that we lasted as long as we did.. i hear jws get sooo excited when they leave a tract with a person!
a stupid little tract!
or if a witness was asked to come into the same car that the circuit overseer was in, it would be considered such a "privilege".
My Aunt called me on Labor Day and told me it had to be quick because she was waiting for Lola to show up. I couldn't remember who that was, so I asked, pretty bored, since I actually was cleaning the toilet on Monday, at home.
Aunt--"Oh, you remember, Sister So&So".
Me---"Uh, kinda, sorta. Huh, why are you getting together on Labor Day at 2 PM?"
Aunt--"We're going out in Field Service, silly! Lots of people should be home and they should even have people over for cookouts. Lots of opportunity to tell them about Jehovah and the End."
Me--"Oh, riiiight."
I figured I better change the subject real fast before I got questioned by my Aunt on why I wasn't going in FS. So I asked how her new driveway was coming along.
Labor Day?! Field Service on Labor Day? In the afternoon?
Seriously, I would clean my toilet with my tongue, rather than go door to door preaching on Labor Day in the Afternoon. And be happy to do it. The toilet that it.
I got lucky when I was young and still in: my Mom fought against cleaning *priviledges*. We only had to do it at home, never at the KH. Thank god.
Those people are soooo F'd up.
