Since about Valentine’s Day I’ve been visiting a particular message forum that’s much like any other Internet babble-board except that the women are a little creepier. There’s this one chick who, I noticed right away, is kind of clever with the one-liners and such, and when I first noticed how many of her posts were replies to my own, I chalked this up to her being just one of those innocently gregarious types who responds to pretty much everyone in topic.
In the six or seven months since, however, I’ve noticed that this isn’t really true. I’ve kept an exact count of the fraction of her replies that 1) are in direct response to my posts, 2) are responses to others’ direct replies to my posts, 3) are replies to those posts, 4) contain vague references to someone who very well could be me, and 5) seem completely unrelated to anything she might have ever seen me express. (I’ve had to do this by hand since the board lacks an automated post-count feature.) As it turns out, it’s obvious that at least 498 out of 513 of her posts in this span fall into one of the first four categories.
This was an especially disconcerting discovery, because this woman had mentioned being married with a couple of teenage kids and also because, frankly there’s something about her that’s kind of alluring. It’s hard to say just what, other than the focused flirting she does with me that she probably assumed I haven’t picked up on–for example, talk about the SF Giants’ chances of making the playoffs, a joke about a talking dog, YouTube videos of I Love Lucy clips, and so on. So this soon became a real concern, because even though I wouldn’t act in any way on any urges I might have in the future, I didn’t want to accidentally become a source of conflict in someone’s marriage (it wouldn’t be the first time). She doesn’t use her real name or post pictures of herself, but I was able to blow up a tiny photo of her from a huge road race where only part of her number and none of her head was visible. Through a combination of meticulously searching through the records of the race to cross-reference the numbers of the runners around her in the photo with finish-line times, e-mailing the photo company giving the part of the bib number I could see and saying I forgot the rest of it and wanted to order “my” pictures, and the services of a PI (cost me over $900!) I was able to get a name, street address, DMV photos, her social security number, the name of her ISP, her husband’s name and place of work, her kids’ names and that of their high school, and the date of her last Pap smear. It turns out that she lives only 1336.2 miles from me, so I’m on my way there later to camp in the woods near her house and just watch her in secret to make sure this crap doesn’t get totally out of hand.
Anyone ever been stalked like this? I’ve agonized over the right course of action but I think calling the cops would be premature. -

by gubberningbody ini didn't want it to get buried and i'd really like to know.. so i knew pretty much what he was saying was true, but what i don't get is how the creative accounting works.. i mean you have to show expenses on the ledger - and i mean real expenses, like the co/do expenses along with receipts.. you have actual costs for the power coming into the building.
the paper supplies and cleaning supplies.
the vacuum cleaners and mops and other sundry items, and you have to have receipts for all that.. i also know that when you made a "donation" it was off the books at the circuit level as far as accounts were concerned.. but how is money not being accounted for?.

I think the organization has reached the point where it acts as if it were a sentient creature and the individual publisher is a cell in this larger organism.
No single cell or groups of cells benefit, but the organization does.
We're not comfortable with that.

I'm glad you answered. I think it's an important point, and one that I'd like to see along with others in Wikipedia, because everyone goes there. The people we might be able to reach won't hit this site unless they're like I was, already on my way out.
I think we just need to be really concise about the matter otherwise it just sounds like we're "mad apostates".
Has anyone explored the possibility of creating a non-profit .ORG-like entity that would be an association for "apostates" of all religions? It would seem to me that if you as did I left the WTBS because the WTBS betrayed the truth, no matter how cleverly they did so, you left because you "made the truth our own" and this dissension was simply unacceptable to "apostates of truth" like the WTBS.
If there was an organization, and perhap there already is, perhaps this group could start a page on the Wikipedia which could underscore the issues with the WTBS (and other intolerant religious entities)

I'm not getting the part where you say :
"Any left over monies at the end of each month is transferred to the WT, if the congregation needs any of it back, they have to ask permission."
That never happened at any congregation I was part of for 25 years as an elder.
What I think you may be confusing is that a congregation can "loan" to the Society certain funds which they can withdraw later if needed (and this happened in our hall when we had to remodel.) but these are still listed and announced every month.
I'm not aware that "...any left over is sent to the WT HQ" has happened without accounting for it and only on the NEXT assembly when an announcement might be made about making a donation to the Society would any funds be sent.
What I believe IS being done is a SLOW "scam". The real "scam" is that two or three assemblies down the road you do an accounting and find out "whoah!! we have extra funds...Let's donate our surplus on to mamma to offset the "deficiencies of others". (2 Cor 8:14)... and then you feel all warm inside.
I think the SLOW, BUT accounted for "scam" is taking place, but not the unaccounted kind.
If I'm not right, I'd sure love to see the evidence because this whore needs to drop.

Ok, so am I hearing this correctly?
1. The "expenses" for each assembly is computed in advance on a per-pub basis.
2. The announcement of "deficits"s computed as :
Let X be the number of publishers estimated to be in attendance.
Let Y be the figure computed for costs-incurred-per-publisher
Let Z be the monies which have been counted thus far.
So that X * Y = "deficit"
And the announcement of deficts = (X*Y) - Z
3. The money IS deposited in the Circuit account at the bank and then IMMEDIATELY forwarded unaccounted for as a donation, but instead is sent on to the Society as "Assembly Expenses"?
I don't get it.
I knew we'd make "donations", but that was announced. I supposed the rest when to the Circuit account.
I'd really like to know if money that makes it to Brooklyn isn't accounted for as either a "Donation", or as "on deposit with the WTBS to use, but which we could recall at any time".
Those are the only two categories that I knew that the Society to get funds.
Am I wrong?
