When this adjustment came out, I officially STOPPED keeping up with doctrine and just completely gave up. The explanation is idiotic. I can't believe that a Thinking J-Dub would accept this or better yet EXPLAIN it!!
lol
wow, it's hard to believe it's already been about a year since this subject was covered in the wt study at kindgom halls around the globe... let's read it just one more time, so we don't forget just how ridiculous this sounded when we first read it.... watchtower (study edition), april 15th, 2010 issue, pages 27-29:.
"this magazine has long been used by the faithful and discreet slave as the primary channel for dispensing increased light.
... what does this explanation mean to us?

at one time, it seemed that the majority of those leaving, were young ones brought up in the cult.. from what i can see now (at least on here), there seems to be a high number of 20+ baptised members years leaving.. has this always been the case?
it might be i just didn't notice from my parochial view from the kingdom hall!.
or are there really more long standing jw's leaving now, than ever before?.
Most that I talk to are in just going through the motions. JWs have great parties. If you have had friends for 20 years, why give it up for doctrinal reasons. Most Witnesses could not go to a church because of brain-washing, so living a lie and having great friends is the only option for many.
Remember a few years ago when all of the hurricanes were a sign of the end? When California has the next devasting earthquake, what will they say? A sign of the end?
All of my JW FB friends have declared that their deliverence is getting near....
i mean can someone, preferably an active jw, explain in 5 sentences or less what that really means?.
i ask because of the long post that "20571..." made on another thread about how "the truth" is better than this, that and the other thing.. what does it really mean?.
The truth is based on the bible.
The bible is a subjective book, therefore the truth is relative.
It depends on your interpetation of a subjective book.
i briefly touched on the drama in another post, but i felt i needed to share in greater detail this latest masterpiece.. .
this was the drama on sunday.
the story alternates between the story of joseph, son of jacob, and a witness kid (forgot his name;billy?
3rd year in a row that I am working NIGHTS...YEAH!!!!!!!
everyone has different views about life after death and whether or not it is a possibility.. as jehovah's witnesses, we were always taught that there is no life after death, that this is the only life we have now and that the wages of sin is death.. .
what are your views on life after death?.
.
Great Topic!!
I remember in the Movie "Eve's Bayou" a key character said, "There hasta be something after this life or God is playing a terrible trick on us all."
I think that there is some sort of afterlife, but I am really not sure. When I look at the bible through the eyes of the WT, Eccl 9:4, 5 and 10 stand out. I really don't know. My heart says that there is definitely an afterlife though.
after such a traumatic experience in the jehovah's witness religion and reasoning on all other versions of religion, why do so many just jump ship into another religion offering the world but still delivering nothing!.
appreciate your comments,.
star tiger.
I have not left, but I feel that people need structure in life. Religion provides a moral guideline, especially for children. I personally feel that all religion is man-made and somewhat false. There are errors in all of it. If the mormons were not racist, I would probobly subscribe to their false teachings, but instead I support the false doctrines of the J-Dubs....
Religion is mans attempt to explain God, therefore it will always be seriously flawed!!!
for any of you christian or otherwise who feel that the " end of the world " is coming please refer to this historical list of failed " end of the world " prophecies which never happened : http://www.religioustolerance.org/end_wrl2.htm .
history is complete with stories of failed , alleged " prophecies " of the coming of the end of the world- allegedly.
news for everybody- organized religion does this to control it's members through fear and guilt by telling them that they are all born sinners and that god is coming with a " day of reckoning " in which everybody has to " pay up " for their sins , or be rewarded - allegedly - for being better than other people who sin.. i'll say for the record- i think it's total control, manipulation, and scare tactics used by religion throughout history .
Remember in the movie, "The Book of Eli" the bad guy was desperate to find a bible so he could rule the world. That is exactly what every religion does to control the masses. You have 1 billion catholics that don't use condoms because an old geman man (the pope) who has probably never ahd sex with a woman sez so!!!
I think 200 years from now, there will be some NEW scam!!!! The masses will STILL be waiting for the END!!!
the first summer a$$embly finishes this weekend.. tell tell!.
who are the toes.
the verrucas and fungus?.
I useta LOVE the DCs at Dodger Stadium. Bring your own food, socialize with friends, meet new Black girls on the Orange Level and White Girls on the Blue Level......Good Times.
Now, it terrible at the HOT, crowded Long Beach Arena. Most leave and go to an area resturant for Lunch and I ALWAYS run into a worldly friend at Lunch at a Jazz Festival on the adjacent grounds.
..........................and did I say it was HOT and crowded!!!
No time for new light, I gotta try no to smell the Ball cheese from the guy sitting behind me!!!
there are many reasons why but i wonder if there could be a dominant mental mechanism at work?.
i've done a bit of research and written this article on the subject.. the comparisons between stockholm's syndrome and jw behaviour are striking.. what keeps a jw in the religion?.
matt.
1) It's a guaranteed friend base all over the world.
2) The bad J-Dubs have the best (FORMALS) parties.
3) The GOOD J-Dubs parties are sooo sooo good they aren't even called parties; they are gatherings!!!!!!
