Great post, thanks for sharing. The area that I live in now has million dollar homes and the superiority complex exist on the same socio-economic basis. Witnesses in Los Angeles always look down on US saying, "You know how weak they are out there.in....." Its funny!!!!!!!!!! They actually believe that they can live poor and EARN their salvation. I have heard how weak we are from at least 30 of my old friends. When they talk about materialism at our hall, the speaker would almost have a smirk on his face. Maybe it is a Spiritual Paradise!!! lol

Subtle Differences in congregations
by SouthCentral ini grew up in a very zealous congregation.
we had almost 40 pioneers with only 100 publishers.
the congregation was 100% black americans (i don't say african-american).

On New Year's Eve one year, ALL of the blacks from 2 congregations were at a GATHERING. It was my most pleasant experience outside of South LA. It was an oasis in a foregin land. Now, the Antelope Valley is much more integrated than when I initially moved there. It's funny how people seem to be more comfortable among those that they share a similar background with. I don't think any of us were racist, we just enjoyed each other's company. In hindsight, I really miss the friendships from our black congregation. My son said he wished he grew up in that same environment, because there was a lotta love among the black friends, but no sincere concern among the white ones.

I grew up in a very zealous congregation. We had almost 40 pioneers with only 100 publishers. The congregation was 100% Black Americans (I don't say african-american). I moved 80 miles away to the Antelope Valley section of Los Angeles in the early 90's. We had a handfull of black families at the time, but there were NO zealous people in the congregation. We had 120 publishers, with less than 5 pioneers. I think there were 10 elders as well. In this area there were massive (4000 sq. ft.) homes that were inexpensive. This caused incredible parties, wife-swapping cliques, youth that dissapeared from the org. at 18 among many other problems. There were SOME inter-mingling among the races, but the black friends LOVED each other....It was like a secret clique that we had in the congregation. I never noticed any REAL racism in my 40 years in the org. until i went to a spanish JW wedding just 3 months ago. It was incredibly blatant. We secured the venue for my wife's friend; but were served our food LAST, although there was no assigned seating, we were MOVED to a very bad location in the venue among other things.....
What are some differences that you noticed between black/white/spanish congregations? Have you noticed any racism/discrimination? Did witness talk negatively about other races? Growing up, most looked down on the spanish congregations (in the late 80's) but there was never any blatant discrimination. What has been your experience?
Did friend in your congregation not like /talk about other races negatively?

This generation will by no means pass away
by Darryl ingood morning i hope everyone is having a wonderful day.
there has been a lot of talk about the "new light" concerning the generation teaching.
it's been a major part of the prophecy concerning the last days and of course since jws are the only ones able to decipher and understand prophecy it is of great importance to get this main prophecy right.

When I see old timers say on fb how close the end is, I start thinking, "Are you serious?"
You were around for the generation teaching change and you still say this? This one teaching alone SCREAMS CULT!!! False Teaching!! RUN!!! But many completely ignore it.

Active JWs celebrating birthdays
by neat blue dog ini remember hearing parents say they're going out to eat for their child's birthday some years ago, and recently i see a lot of active jws wishing each other as well as worldly people on facebook a happy birthday, including emoticons related to partying.
is this a judicial offence, or have you seen anything similar?.

I see active witnesses saying Happy BORN Day......
Another interesting point is that I see may elders and pioneers celebrate Sibling Day, but not Mother or Father's Day. Very hypocritical to celebrate your siblings, but NOT the parents who created them.

Is it me or were the experiences at the assemblies really contrived?
by keyser soze inmy favorite were the ones where they were reading a wt publication in the break room at work, and an inquisitive co-worker, thirsty for spiritual knowledge approaches them.
this leads to an informal witness, which eventually leads to bible study and baptism.. in all my years of working, i've never had anyone show the slightest bit of interest in what i was reading while i was on my break at work.
but as i said, maybe it's just me..

All of the preceding statements are true. I told experiences at several assemblies, the climax being in front of 50k at Dodger Stadium. Each time my stories were slightly embellished at each rehearsed. My experiences were related to sports. The cross country coach asked me to run, but I said no. This was because I ran in 9th grade and was pretty good. I only ran because I wasn't good enough to make the basketball team. Small details that I excluded. This happened in 10th grade and I started pioneering (90 hours per month) in 11th grade.

My parents seperated (due to family illness) when I was 8.I prayed that my father could see me graduate from HS (because we were so close to the end). I graduated 30 years ago........my parents are DEAD as are most of their friends. The younger generation STILL yell about never growing old....and how close we are to the end. I really dont understand the delusion!!!

Underlying Resentment Among the Members
by xjwsrock inmost of us here have seen and experienced the judgmental attitude among jw's.
the pioneers look down on the publishers.
the appointed men look down on the non-appointed men.

Hummm, good question. In a merit based religion, there is always someone who excuses their own behaviour, but condemns others. There is always a good reson to look down on someone else.
