I probably tell people that I grew up as a Jehovah’s Witness. I have no issues with it. The next question is always; “Are you still active?”
I usually dance around the question though… LOL
The eventual answer is no of course.
some witnesses realize that they got into a religion and it turned out to be disastrous.
many decide they have to somehow get out.
some do it right away and others take longer.. where are you in your journey?

since i woke up and left i've been contacted by others i knew from my youth who've also left the cult.
also people around the world on facebook adding me out of the blue because we have mutual friends and they occasionally ask me stuff or share their story.. what i've noticed in the vast majority of cases, is that people are waking up not because of the arc or doctrine but apathy.
active jws are becoming less and less interested, less and less bothered.
One of the very first signs of doubt was from a convention signed that referenced the 1975 prediction. They cited a 1968 watchtower article. The generation change was earth shattering to me. It seemed like no one else was bothered by this major doctrinal shift.
Recently, through YouTube testimonies, I have noticed, that many were affected by this change.
Whatever is causing people to leave the organization TODAY, may not be realized for decades.
i have not seen jehovah’s witnesses in my neighborhood for several years now.
it appears that the cart witnessing has taken over.
congregations are being consolidated and witnesses are being forced to travel a greater distance than before.the burdens/privileges of elders seem to be ever increasing!.
I have a friend who is visiting from another country. He has been a missionary for at least 10 years now. I am going to get together with a group of old friends within the next few weeks. I really wonder, how can people stay in the organization for over 25 years and accept the changes?
I know many witnesses that have left the organization… But they still feel it is the truth. I know many others that are very active! I really don’t know how they can do it. I guess if you stay in, just for social reasons… Maybe…
asia for the asians, africa for the africans, white countries for everybody!.
everybody says there is this race problem.
everybody says this race problem will be solved when the third world pours into every white country and only into white countries.. the netherlands and belgium are just as crowded as japan or taiwan, but nobody says japan or taiwan will solve this race problem by bringing in millions of third worlders and quote assimilating unquote with them.. everybody says the final solution to this race problem is for every white country and only white countries to “assimilate,” i.e., intermarry, with all those non-whites.. what if i said there was this race problem and this race problem would be solved only if hundreds of millions of non-blacks were brought into every black country and only into black countries?.
It’s interesting, yet not surprising that these beliefs were in the Kingdom Hall!!!
i helped, unfortunately, many people to become baptized jws.
recently, over the last few years, i saw many of my students who were still “ in the truth “ lament that i was no longer associating or active in the faith.. i do feel bad that i did such a good job that most of them still are in the cult.. are your teachers still around or did they wise up and leave the lord’s organization?
?.
This is a great question! The Person studied with me is actually missionary. I haven’t seen him in about 15 years. Ironically, he is in town for a few weeks. I will be hooking up with some old witness friends Very soon. Definitely a little nervous, but I am still going to go. I have always usied the excuse that because of my demanding job, I can’t make all the meetings. I think it’s been at least four years though… LOL
Great Post, Thanks for Sharing!!
As u say, u gotta be sure when u have children!!!
what parent would allow their children to share our youth as a JW at school. I was baptized at 13 YO.

I used to think that something earth shattering would happen! Something to awaken the masses! I can see that no matter what happens, the average witness will not change. A few will leave when something tragic happens to them (I.e. Blood transfusions, molestation…) but for the most part, the numbers will continually Remain stagnant.
Unfortunately, many inactive witnesses still believe this is the truth and the only way to salvation.

It’s hard to imagine someone methodically doing the same things again and again with out any tangible reward!
I really don’t understand.
One of my former best friend has been in the same house congregation for over 40 years. Totally perplexed me!!!

An Elder who is Partially handicapped, informed me that he was reassigned to a KH 20 miles away from his home. It’s hard to believe that this is happening without resistance. He said it was also the organization could save on electrical cost. This now allows every kingdom hall to be closer to capacity. I told him, unfortunately it’s at your expense!
How do people clearly see that the emperor has no clothes on and willingly keep quiet about it for 30+years. Even when it causes a hardship upon them!

Since the end does not appear any closer than it did when I was pioneering 30 years ago; what is the current sentiment of the average witness, what is The motivation of people that have been knocking on doors for 30 years?
Do they still feel that the end is close? Are they pursuing careers? I know some that were motivated purely for friendships. 90% of my friends have left the organization, so I don’t have a resource for data points anymore.
