It’s crazy how the organization has modified itself with the Times…
Great post as always Blondie!
hour quotas timeline.
back in the old days long before 1952.
“after staying in our ‘home’ for two days we decided that if we were going to meet our quota of 140 hours for the month.
It’s crazy how the organization has modified itself with the Times…
Great post as always Blondie!
somebody mentioned in a recent topic that they had a conversation with a former elder whose breaking point was when the overlapping generation was highlighted in recent times and how he would never serve again until somebody gave him a scriptural reason to believe it.
i am in a similar position.
i have gone in the last 18 months from taking the wt study, leading fs groups, and doing talks on the mtngs to doing almost nothing, as i resigned a little over a year ago as an elder due to a combination of family responsibilities and huge doubts.
I think this may be relevant for many of the new people who have joined the group.
since i faded i've told a few people at work about having been raised in this organization but i found that most people don't really get what it is like at all.
they just focus on not celebrating holidays as if that is the worst thing about growing up jw.
i didn't explain much because it's too much for most people to handle.
Nothing positive comes from sharing that you were raised in a dysfunctional lifestyle. It's better not to share!!
here is my story of becoming a missionary after having kin suen (pronounced “shin”) as my circuit overseer.
my father wanted me to go to college, but since he wasn’t a witness, i knew he just didn’t understand how close we were to the end.
i had actually become a circuit overseer!
Great post! I was baptized in 1982 at Lemert Park. I was a pioneer at 13 YO. Fortunately, i toned everything down and pursued a non-college career at 19 YO. It has worked out great. The 1995 generation changed started my awakening. I hung around the fringes of the org. until the 2013 WT that said the GB might say something that doesn't make sense to humans..........That was all that I needed to never return! Please keep sharing your stories! It can help awaken many others.
i have followed an ex-jw website that has many articles on the past history of the wts and current articles using wt publications to tell the real truth not just the edited wt version.
considering recent changes this link to df'ing was updated in august 2024. it is worth a serious read, puts things in categories and has timely comments from a long-time ex-jw from australia, ex-bethelite and father is a circuit overseer.
i have used this many times so i don't "reinvent the wheel" when discussing certain topics on jwn.
... is just three weeks from this saturday.
the org has been tight-lipped, really, successfully secret about advance info on these in recent years,.
now that these relatively recent changes on dress and grooming, reporting fs time, judicial matters, etc.
Most changes are based on court cases or some connection to perception among governments..........oh and money!!
i went to a christening at a church today, a black church.
it was an incredible experience!!
women were an active part of the service, and the people were very welcoming.
It was CRAZY to see that a WOMAN (without a head covering..lol) led the first 30-minues of the service!!! She was the highlight of it all for me!

As a witness, the evilest thing in the world is a CHURCH!! It's incredible how at a church there is much love and forgiveness.

I went to a christening at a church today, a black church. It was an incredible experience!! Women were an active part of the service, and the people were very welcoming. They even hugged new visitors. The singing and activity was VERY moving! This was very different than anything that I have experienced after 40+ years of black/or white kingdom halls. I appreciate those that invited me. I plan to go again to a black church. It was an actual spiritual experience!!!
