when i saw this article on the news it really disturbed me.

Has nothing to do with athiesm. It may have more to do with people and culture however cruel it may be. A billion people under a communist regime where people don't count for much may cause that sort of mentality.
How many so called god believers did horrible crimes during war? When there is an opportunity to do so, there are people that will do it. If the attitude is such that another human being isn't worth a lot, who will care? In this instance it many be cultural. After all, how many of those countries have young girls sold to brothels or as slaves because parents can't afford to keep them. We, in the west have a good life and this videois shocking to us, but is it possible that these things happen more often than we think in third world and developing nations except they aren't caught on video or if they are they're not released to the public?
We are living in one of the most peaceful, most developed nations on the planet using and abusing the most resoures of any generation during human history. Our culture is totally ignorant of many other cultures and the value of human life in those areas.

Would be nice if someone recorded the hearings and posted them online. While it's nice to get unofficial going ons, it would be a stronger arguement if backed by video or even voice recording - that is if these devices are allowed at such hearings.

The demonstrators against corporate greed and corruption should demand that the public withdraw their money from the banking institutions. This act alone would shut down greedy pigs manipulating the markets and controlling the public. If the public was loud enough even the Fed and the governments wouldn't stop the pig slaughter but that would also shake up the system in a REAL BIG way - would the public be prepared for the outcome???
Eu defaults may also occur if the public starts raising their voices when it comes to Greek and other bailouts which are really bank bailouts. If the EU doesn't bailout Greece and others, German and French banks are toast which will spread throughout other countries including US and Canada and China. We may see bank runs on even a bank holiday where you don't get your money out while some sort of laws are past, possibly devaluation. The public outrage is growing and it will continue until something gives. People should have been buying the good old relic that the central banks are starting to accumulate as of late - gold.

my bf's family are all witnesses and i have been looking into the religion lately to try to get a better understanding of where they're coming from.
(btw, my bf is not a witness - he was thankfully never baptised and he just walked away from it about 13 years ago).
Good questions that many have asked without any answers. Ray Franz - exGB member - wrote that they believed their own crap for most part. This information may have been valid up to 1980 but 30 years have past and the world became a much smaller place when it comes to information. The GB is still very secretive group so what they really believe no one really know.
What's it for? And where does the money go? It's hard to say. Do the lawyers get a nice egg nest offshore or a cut of the pie??? Do accountants get a share??? Hard to say. Do GB have something offshore??? No one knows and at this time no one is talking. But the top end people have access to ALL of the information and the way things are written in some of the articles one can assume that they are willfully deceiving the rank and file. Lawyers are doing their job defending wrongs which means they must agree to defend the crooked ways of their faith which should be somehow an ethical problem for them if they were really believing all the God's Organization BS. It's a business and it's run like a business but who gets paid won't be known until there is a whistle blower or the governments shut them down and exposes their dealings.
Russell and Rutherford lived and traveled all around the world while being looked up to as prophets. Since those two, Knorr and the GB that followed him were never in the same spotlight. We hear of them staying in nice places when they travel and eating in nice restaurants but how frequently???? Is prestige what they desire? Unfortunately you won't get the answer to your questions at this time other than assumptions at best.

I can't wait to see the look of JWs when the hard times do come but no Armageddon. It's no brainer that there will be hard times due to debt-load of the western world and peak oil will definitely bring changes to the way people live. If WTS was proactive, they would have warned about unsustainable debt and peak oil decades ago and they would have looked smart today but they pick up stories from newspapers today and repeat it to the masses as if bible GT is about to be upon us. It helps when listeners are uneducated and in the dark to what's going on around them.
on another board for ex-jws, i stated i'd like to start a mass letter writing campaign.
at first i thought of writing to the united nations human rights council, about the shunning and increasingly bad insinuations and name calling against apostates, but mostly the shunning, and the fact that the org is increasing it's pressure on the r & f to continue and do more shunning if they had been letting that slide.. anyway, on that board, some suggested we write to the media instead, because that way it might get out to the public better, and then other organizations might see what's going on and perhaps take some kind of investigative action agains the org for what it does to anyone who wants to leave, which i believe violates our own freedom of religion, because we are not free to leave their religion without repercussions, and very heavey ones at that.. i also would like, as much as possible, to have our letters date-stamped october 31, just for the irony of that being halloween.
and i'm looking for a name to call our campaign, i was just thinking, halloween hey day.

Using media is smart, as more people come to understand how WTS preaches freedom of religion but they don't practice it themselves. Media might also help people keep away from joining the cult.

Tell him the truth. There are many religions out there and many have their own gods and none can be proven, nor have any proved themselves to be real. Can be compared to a tooth fairy. You may want to talk to your MIL to stop with WTS or you should find another sitter. Many witnesses won't stop as they feel it's their obligation and unless someone sets them straight they may think they know better in this regard. Filipinos are warm people though and may listen to what you have to say.
It may not be a big deal that your boy learns about "Jehovah" now BUT if this continues this will grow on him and then you may be viewed as an enemy of god because you don't go to KH, you celebrate all the things god "hates," and so forth. No parent would wish a cancer on their kid and after all wts is like cancer.
