Suicide - How many do you know within the JWs
by Lady Lee inthw wts likes to play games with their statistics.
one interesting but truly tragic is the number of jwhovah's witnesses who commit suicie.. now i suspect that if a person commits suicide shortly before or after they are disfellowshipped then the elders would say that person wasn't a witness or that they had done something so terrible that they were too guilty to admit it and by their action of committing suicide they pretty much declared they were no longer a jw.. yup fancy talk to make sure any crap didn't fall on them.. so my question.. do you know of cases like this?
if so then can you answer a few more questions.. had this person been dfed or in real danger of being dfed or whatever the equivalent is if they were never baptized?.

What's wrong with driving them for 10 or more years? COs and DOs don't need a new car every four years, general JWs don't get a new car that often so why should those turds?

Welcome,
In my country we dont have "apostates"
What country is that? You may not know of apostates but they're there. Apostates aren't just the people who hold sign outsign of convention protesting the watchtower but any xJW who doesn't believe the bullshit anymore. 99% of us don't hold signs nor would we waste our time in such a way.
Good luck on your hope of getting your family out but at your age make sure you put your future ahead of that idea. Get education, so you can have the most opportunities in your future.

I think it was their first video. It's typical recruitment video, how wonderful they are and all those happy hard working Bethelites. I think it came up when I began to study with them.

Facebook mandatory timeline- good or bad?
by moshe injust curious about what others think about it.
i never set up timeline, as i felt it was too intrusive.
facebook is now telling us they will set up your timeline whether you like it or not- everyone is getting it..

If it's mandatory, which I haven't read anywhere, all my photos I share with the family will be deleted. Privacy wise, I've heard a lot of negative regarding it so I would be very cautious with any photos I post there.

Good luck on being a real friend, as the reality is you can't have indoctrinated JWs as real friends. You can be as nice as you like to them, but the minute you are da/df they will no longer acknowledge your existence. Do your research and decide where you stand. You don't have to get df or da yourself even if you decide you don't want anything to do with the cult, but if you do research and agree that wts is a cult, and decide to stay you have to be very careful what you say to any active witness or you will go through the kangaroo court and get the boot and lose every so called friend you know.
There is no way wts will change. Even if you were an elder, there is absolutely no chance of changing the past or the future of the borg. They will destroy your worth, and paint you evil before you even have a chance to make a dent in your own congregation, let alone on a larger scale. You've just began to awaken to the reality and I can tell you it will be harder and harder to overlook the injustice, the corruption and the lie within the cult as time goes on. You're not the only one that thought you can make a difference and stay on but reality is in due time you will have to make your choice what you want to do with your life - waste serving a lie or free your self to whatever degree you want and move on with your life. At 37 you have a long life ahead of you, take your time at researching who and what you've been involved with and your believes will also greatly change but it all takes time for the indoctrination to lose it's hold on you. Take care.

If it's an organ why not allow it, otherwise ban other organ transplants?(referring to wts policy)
Like other organ transplants, blood has risks, but so does driving a car. Like everything, people need to look at the pros and cons of each treatment and try to choose the best possible option for them with the least amount of risk. Just because we would accept blood doesn't mean we're going to a doctor with our sleeves rolled up asking to be injected with blood at the first opportunity we get!
Also, who made the film, and are the quotes cut to fit the producer's idea or are the interviews shown to be long enough within the context?

Maybe, it's not that they need the money that bad but that they get a fleet discount paid by JWs, then they let the COs and DOs drive them for a couple years, and then they turn around and sell these to dumb witlesses who pay the primium on these which. This is smart business practice and we all know WTS is in a business org. And this allows COs and DOs to get brand new cars because they deserve them. After all didn't paul get freebees for preaching? Oh wait, he had to work for a living and preach on top of that. I guess COs and DOs are busier than Paul was thus they don't need to work.

I was recruited when I was 17 and still in school so I fucked over my best years of life to the cult including school. Now that I'm out, I'm taking first year of Business Admin after which I would like to continue towards an Accounting Degree. I'm taking it through distance learning which gives me flexibility while I take care of by 2 year old daughter. I haven't given up too much to do this at this point but it would have been so much nicer to have done college when I was younger. Who wants to start a new career at 40 by choice?

Welcome, JOJO
What you are experiencing is the reality of what wts does to people. They make people believe that they aren't good enough and they don't do enough, they indoctrinate people into feeling guilt and fear. Many people go through depression but people within watchtower experience more than usual and it is apparent that many jws unfortunately go as far as suicide due to these feelings.
Many of us who were true believers and began to awaken to the reality of what watchtower is felt what you do and believe me, it takes time to get past the feeling of guilt and fear and move on with your life from living a dream to living a normal healthy life that's not influenced by imaginary teachings of men. Things will get better if you continue to research and use your thinking abilities to distinguish BS from the real truth.
Ray Franz gave a good glimpse into the way Governing Body operate. Do yourself a favor and research the detailed history of the watchtower and then the bible and see what the archeology and history reveals regarding what you read. You can always stop the research whenever you want but many do explore the whole religious issue once they are comfortable with the reality that watchtower has deceived them. As I've said earlier, your journey can last a while, and your feelings may get the better of you at times. Be patient and do the research at your pace depending how much you can absorb without major depression setting in.
If your father began to study, maybe give him Ray's Franz' Crisis of Conscience book to read if you have it. Maybe you both can do the research together. But you are right about not being able to talk to others about what you're thinking regards to wts and doctrine as any hint of opposing Governing Body will get you possibly disfellowshipped for apostasy! Many are trapped within this organization with fear of losing contact with family members. Check out jwfacts.com as it has many good watchtower quotes, flip flops, doctrinal changes and scandals that 99% of witnesses aren't aware. Make sure you get evidence to support what others say about wts. I would suggest you also examine the BITE model which describes cults and the effect it has on cult members. You may also find it interesting to see how watchtower misquotes others and uses partial information to support their writings.
If you have any questions in finding research material, just ask. All of watchtower publications are in pdf formats and available, many court documents and other newsprints are scanned and available for those wanting research. You don't have to be afraid to ask anything here as many will try to honestly help you with your answers, just remember that majority of us have moved past your stage of discovery. All the best.
ps. You may want to compare NWT with other bibles as NWT has some added material to suit their own doctrine.
