New Generation understanding tied to Freddie Franz
by 5thGeneration inalso don't know if this has been mentioned previously.. our speaker yesterday, gb member br.
pierce, tied the overlap theory directly to fred franz's lifetime.. did anyone else catch this?.
evidently (and i'm paraphrasing), anyone anointed after franz's death in 1992 is not of the 'generation'.. 5th.

The Truth (as I seen it) according to Jehovah's Witnesses by Gary Busselman
by Dogpatch ingod is the creator, but since he only created michael,.
and michael created everything else, ("all other things") .
that would seem to make michael the real creator, .

[LONG] Making a plan to leave... I have no friends :'(
by confliction inthe title pretty much explains it all... i don't want to go too much into my story (for paranoid fear of identification), but i have been raised in the "truth", and got baptized at a young age- too young to truly understand what i was getting into.
i still live with my parents, and as such don't want to make a move just yet, as it would destroy virtually everything i have left.
as of now though, i see myself leaning towards agnosticism.. here's my short sob story.

Your story it is very common amongst JW's. There are hundreds of thousands stories like yours. Once you find out the truth about the 'truth', then you cannot stay and pretend.
You can see my previous posts as (justhuman)and you will see that there are people with worst situation like yours. When I left I had a family and children. 10 years have gone and I managed to make a new life, new friends. I was 33 when I left and 39 when I was disfellowshiped.
I enjoy my freedom, and I made my choices regarding religion. So you are young, you are not commited with anyone, you have no children. It is good idea to move into another town, become innactive, make new friends and plan your life according to your will.
I don't suggest you to be disfellowshiped. Like that you will lose all your family bonds. Even if you move to a new town try to avoid to join a JW's congregation. You will save your self from the 'elders' that will call and ask why you don't go to the meetings

Until now I'm not impressed with the world cup games. But hope New Zeland will make it to the next round. I like suprises. France is out, England, Italy, Spain they are close to miss next round. The only team that's doing well is Brazil

Generation 'New Light' is Actually Working
by zoiks inas ridiculous as it seems to me and most of you, the infamous 'generation' update has every jw that i know in a tizzy.
they're all worked up about how 'exciting' it all is.
i just received a letter from my mom (she only communicates through letters now), and she brought it up - how they carefully explained it at the convention, and how it shows that we are so close to the end.. unbelievable.

I don't think is working. For the rank and file it doesn't matter anymore what the GB says. They have learn to accept blindly whatever comes out from Brooklyn...if the GB changes the 'light' next month still JW's they will be happy with the new explanation...
If the WT was finnancial advisor they would have gone down the drain. Not a single prophecy, not a future event they haven't be able to figure out.

has anyone looked into Buddhism?
by poor places ini've started reading a book called the modern buddhist's bible and i'm liking a lot of things about the religion so far.
of course i don't know much yet, but there seem to be some very good points to buddhism.
one thing i love is the emphasis on "killing" the ego (or whatever you might want to call what buddhists try to do with their egos!).

DC 2010 Release - The Origin of Life and its many misquotes
by Designer Stubble inlooking up all the references is a lot of work - one of the reasons nobody normally verifies these, but trust the writers.
as you will see, the writers are banking on this, but it is not a good thing to trust the wtbts writers.
please find the bibliography worked out for quotes 38-51, covering the heading "what about human evolution".. interesting is that many quotes are from the preface of books, where the authors honestly explain the difficulties and assumptions related to evolutionary science.. what about human evolution?.

I was MS back in 1995 when the 'light' came out. I recall at CO's visit(it happened to be few days after the 'light') we had a special meeting for the 'new light'. He told us that we have to persuade our families as leaders of the congregation to understand the new generation explanation. The nucleus of the congregation is the family, so if all family members understand the new light then the entire congregation will know...
For me it was the end of my life in the WT. After this 'change' of understanding in just 4 years I left WT. I don't know what was the reaction of the rank and file today, but as I see from active JW's that post in various forums, there is no reaction at all, just like it was 15 years ago.
I have said few years back(yes I'm of the older members of this forum -Justhuman)that the WT it is a club. In order to be a member of the club and accepted by the other members, you have to follow blindly what comes out from the headquarters. Even if the GB changes every week their understanding in doctrinal matters, still the rank and file will accept it without any questioning. In just 15 years the doctrine of the famous generation changed 4 times!!! In my time I recall that the generation doctrine was SOLID. The generation that it will not pass and would see Armaggedon. Those who were born in 1914 they will be the living evidence of God's promise of a New World. I spend the best years of my life preaching that the generation will not pass way, became pioneer spending 90 hours a month to save the World. What I knew back then it all gone down the drain. And dogmatically speaking WT has nothing in common with the one I grew back in the mid 80's. Whats left it is just promises by the WT leadership that never came true...
