while visiting a still in friend last week we had an interesting discussion on narcissism.

he made a very interesting comment that got me thinking about the above.

we were discussing the nature of celebrity and fame and he mentioned that he would find it very difficult to cope with constant adulation and praise.

The Old Testament, basically is formed by copying other faiths and Myths from the Mesopotamia region. Specially the Hebrew God and the way he acted shows that is more like a egoistic, Narcissistic, with human behavior instead of Divine.

For instance we have in the early Jewish faith, that Jaweh had a Goddess wife, Ashira. So that's gone now...Basically it was the Old Testament, and all the violence, hate, and rules by a misogynist God that turned me to become agnostic. What kind of God is this when he demands from the supposedly chosen nation to go kill everyone and keep the virgins for themselves(Numbers chapter 31)no difference from what Isis is doing, following the Bible rules!

Or what kind of God demands for woman to be stoned to death because she didn't scream while being raped, or if she screams then she can married the person that raped her, as long as he pays compensation to her father!!! Or when a woman defends her self from a rapist and grabs the testicles of the offender the penalty is to chop her hand off....really give me a f..,.ing break. This is not God.

During the centuries the Catholic/Orthodox Church, they have vanished many other books connected to the Hebrew Bible and mostly the Hellenic Scriptures, since it didn't fit their agenda like the Gospel of Thomas, Gospel of Maria Magdalene, Gospel of Judas, Gospel of Nicodemus, Faith and Wisdom.

My return to the WT...a terrible mistake

i haven't posted for quite a bit, decided to share my thoughts on this one, so it is a reference topic for anyone who decides to return back to the org, knowing all about the tatt.

being way for quite long for almost 15 years and all wt's activities, i have missed quite a lot including the "new light" latest updates, i found it quite hard to follow up what was going on to the meetings.

new songs, wt broadcast, videos, internet (so wt now is in favor of the internet) cartoons, and everything seemed completely new and weird to me.. reason for going back it was the severe pressure from close family members to return back to the "truth".

Thanks all for your comments and support. I'm trying to fade out slowly(if possible) I was inactive for 5 years before getting disfellowshiped, and I would have being OK if the other half didn't turned me to JC for apostasy!!! So this time I'm alone, and I will work out on the fading process. They have been some phone calls from the elders, so I'm giving excuses, with work and health issues. Is there a way that I can move to another congregation and somehow during the process will managed not to transfer my file to supposedly new one? I'm just thinking ways and maybe some of you faced similar situation.

When I sit at the meetings I find a nice isolated spot and I read other staff, or message a friend at skype!!!

Really I need to fade out, nicely so I can continue with my life. OK maybe a Memorial or a DA so you demonstrate that you are still there somehow, but to be honest I don't really feel doing even that... Is just so difficult to live in their world.

Even when I go 2 times a month still is hard...specially when they come up with the "new lights" is just insane.

Being way for quite long for almost 15 years and all WT's activities, I have missed quite a lot including the "new light" latest updates, I found it quite hard to follow up what was going on to the meetings. New songs, WT broadcast, videos, internet (so WT now is in favor of the internet) cartoons, and everything seemed completely new and weird to me.

Reason for going back it was the severe pressure from close family members to return back to the "Truth". I guess being a son of a CO it didn't took quite long to be reinstated.

Few months after that I realize it was a terrible mistake. I just can't live or pretend to live in the WT. Being a JW cost me a lot, giving up a career in the show biz, education and someone that I loved but she was a " Worldly " person. What really irritates me is seeing those elders, who used to give talks against Worldly Education, and used me to give talks about education, and seek a career as pioneer, since the world was just about to witness Armageddon, (it was mid 80's so the Famous Generation was going to see the End) yes those elders have send their children to become, doctors, solicitors, architects and anything that WT used to condemn, while now I'm facing hard times due to my lack of education and because I have followed WT's guidance not to seek glory within the world.

I feel I can't take it anymore living in the WT land and pretend that I'm happy. I see all those JW's who used to turn their back away from me while seeing me walking in the street and pretend that I wasn't there. The ironic part of it, is all those ones, now they invite me for social gatherings.

I'm trying to fade out, and I don't know how I will achieve that. I find it hard to go through the same process, elder's phone calls, shepherding visits, I feel I don't have that strength. I just wanna wright a letter of disassociation and that's it. I thought I could pretend like an actor, but is becoming harder and harder each day.

At the same time I wouldn't like to make sad my elderly mother, since she was so happy when i return back, I'm trying to retain the balance, but I don't think I can make it...

If you are thinking returning to the WT one day my advice is not to do that. The prize is too high,,,,

and i am finding the adjustment to the real world far more difficult than i ever imagined...i f...it has been about five years since i totally woke up to the fraudulant nwt and then all my other doubts i had carried for years were proved true as well.

but almost all of my few friends are exjw or slack jw's and i feel so isolated...my sons friends are mostly exjw too but not their gf's and they have way more normal friends .

how have you done at replacing lifelong friends and family?

He was an exceptional artist...I really don't care if he was a JW. He was a brilliant guitarist, and every note he touched it came from the soul...really sorry to hear that he is gone...RIP

beatles, rolling stones, led zeppelin, hendrix.

i started getting slighted for the music i listened to as i lay in my bedroom listening on headphones to led zeppelin's song " black dog " at age 14 with my elder dad looking suspiciously at me as i'm rocking out .

Many times, since I was "famous" musician,,,,,and I did and still ROCK....yeah Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Beatles are always on the play list.

I was in wedding once, and I was asked to play couple of songs, and I did some good old rock and roll, and the CO who attended there asked me to stop!!!!

I will add my 2 cents as well:

Lot was willing to give his 2 daughters to the people of Sodom so they can rape them, in order to protect the 3 visitors. What kind of father will do that!!??? The entire passage there is no name for the wife of Lot. She is being killed because she looked back, and then the 2 daughters that previously are offered to to be raped, they decide to sleep with their father, since their mother is dead!!!! Now, God, that destroyed the 2 cities due to their immoral behavior, completely ignores the same behavior from Lot's daughters! In the text it seems that Lot continued to live after the destruction isolated from the rest of the world.

Moses, commands the Israel soldier to kill everyone in the city that they will conquer, but leave the virgins for them!!! So we have ethnic cleansing, rape, that it is acceptable from God( same behavior of what we see now days in the turmoil area of Middle East by the specific group)

In the Book of Deuteronomy we see the following commands: If someone rapes a virgin, then can pay compensation to her dad and then he can married her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If a woman doesn't scream on a rape attempt she is guilty of fornication and the penalty is death

If a woman in her attempt to protect her self from rape, grabs the "balls" of a man, then the penalty is to cut her hand!!!

To summarize: The Old Testament was written by misogynist nomads living in the desert in tents, (while during that era we have thriving Hellenic civilizations, like the Minoan) and unfortunately a vast majority of mankind considers those scriptures as Divine....

do any of you ex-jw's still believe in god?

even with the new rebranding/softening of this religion, i still don't see how people can believe in him.

the god of the old testimate is an angry murderer who approved rapes and slavery and killed thousands of men, women and children.

I still believe in God....that there is a creator, but I don't have to accept the Old Testament and the concept of God that some primitive nomads living in the desert, 3000 years ago....

actually i haven't post for quite a long in the forum and i guess i'm one of the old ones, since i became member since 2001.. after leaving the borg for almost 16 years and disfellowshiped 10 years ago.

@Truthexplorer, thanks for the info you shared. Just to clarify, you have been reproved, but not disfellowshiped, and yet it took 9 years to lift of the restrictions?!?!
