There is a difference between the terms "Divine" and "Divinely Inspired". Not every Book in the Holy Bible is Divine and Divinely Inspired. Nor are all the "Venerable" books "Divine". Orthodox Church make's very careful distinctions in expressions, which is something that Protestants do not perceive, hence their assertion that all the books in the Holy Bible are Divinely Inspired.
But the Bible does not contain only Divinely Inspired Books.
The Books of the Bible are referred to in the Canonizing sources either as Divine, or Divinely Inspired, or Canonical (Regulation), or Proposed Reading, or Beneficial, or Venerable, or Canonized. These characterizations are not incidental. Differences do exist, hence, all books do not belong to every category. In the Church of Christ we speak with precision and make very delicate distinctions; we do not resort to coarse distinctions such as "Canonic" (Regulation) and "Deuterocanonic" (Secondary).Summarizing the above, we could say that : The Holy Bible contains books ( such as the three Books of the Maccabees ) which are only Venerable, but not Divinely Inspired or Divine or Canonical. The Bible contains books ( such as Judith and Tobit ) which are Canonical, but not Divinely Inspired or Divine. And the Bible also contains Divine books ( such as Solomon's Wisdom ) which are not however Divinely Inspired.
Below there is a list of a number of important clarifications of the Church's canons that relate to the Canon on the Holy Bible:
Venerable is a book that Christians have a duty to respect.
Proposed Reading is a book that can be read by all.
Church Text is that which can be read in Churches.
Newcomer Reading is that which is useful for the newly catechized.
Canonical is that which belongs to a Canon (regulation).
Canonized refers to those texts that may belong to a canon, but for which the final decision on their selection has not yet been reached, in order to validate the canon.
Reputable canon is a canon worthy of acceptance.

Really good points maksym. The problem with the Protestant movement it is they have complete ignorance of the East Orthodox Church. In their effort for reformation in the Roman Catholic Church, they ignored fundamental facts of Christianity and instead of looking at the origins of Christianity they proceed with new ideas. Unfortunately the time of reformation there wasn't East Roman Empire, due to the fall of Constantinople at 1543 A.D by the Othoman Turks and the Orthodox Church was now under the Turks.
A basic mistake is to ignore the Biblical Canon consisting 76 Books. How come all protestant groups, including JW's, claim that they follow the Bible, but they ignore 10 books from the Old Testament that they are included in the Canon?
End another important issue. Most of Protestant groups claim that they are only following the Bible, and due to that they are the only ones who are correct in Christian faith. But here comes the big question that they must answer:
Who gave you the Bible? Or from who did you borrowed the Bible? The answer is clear: From the Orthodox/Catholic Church! So how come they claim that the Apostolic Church turned into apostate Church, but THEY ACCEPT THE BIBLICAL CANON defined by apostate Church around 425 A.D a time that according to them, true Christian faith lasted only 200 years??? Does it make sense? You cannot have the Bible alone with out the Church because it was from the Church that Bible was delivered. Besides we have lot of Church Fathers writings from the first three centuries that the Church accepts them and the Bible is not the only Book that defines Christian faith, but the entire Church. Apostle states this very clearly, in his Epistle to Timothy I, chapter 3:15: "..and if I should be delayed, (I am writing to you) so that you may know how to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the Church of the Living God, the pillar and the basis of the truth."
After the Schisma occurred at 1080AD as I said previously at my post, the West Roman Church fall into serious mistakes, while the East Roman Church, now named Holy Catholic Orthodox Apostolic Church continued to hold the faith and tradition of the Apostles , along with Apostolic Succession going 2000 years back, something that no protestant group has.
So the Apostolic Church is always here for last 2000 years and never sized to exist. In fact the Bible that is used at the Orthodox Churches are the Original Greek Texts, because translations can lead into interpretation mistakes (like Catholics and Protestants) and to avoid that they are using the Original Texts that the meaning is clear.
P.S. Peter was in Rome. For Early Christians the code name for Rome was Babylon due to the pagan
God's that Romans used to worship. -

YHWH the Hebrew God, commited genocides, just read the Book of Exodus, Numbers, just to name a few and in Numbers we find at chapter 29-30 that in one case He commands the Israelites to destroy the city that they will invate, kill ALL animals(what did those animals did wrong)kill all males, females(including new born ones) and burn the city.
At the same book of Numbers we find similar "commandment" from "God" but with a slight change: Kill ALL males-old-young-new borns, kill ALL non virgins-including old women, married women with children, and KEEP the virgins for you...
Now this is the God of "love" and justice??? Give us a break dude...Imagine this senario: You are 9 year old girl and you see in front of your eyes "God's chosen people" to invate your town, kill your grandfather, grandmother, your father, kill your mother, kill your new born brother, but you and your 7 year old younger sister are taking captives by Israelite soldiers and then, until you are old enough to "married" perhaps the same man who killed your entire family!!! Is this the "God" you believe and you hope that He will bring "justice"...
Awake up dude, there is no "God" the way you believe, you and many other Christian and Muslim brain washed fanatics. I do believe in a "Creator", and that He created us, He gave us brain to use it and run our lifes. If we humans do not know, or willing to use that brain for our own benifit then we are the ones to blaim.

Unfortunately this is the result of religious fanatism and personally I don't like that religion due to their fanatical ways, but most of all they way they treat women.
For sure if WT was a state religion ex-jw's would have been stoned to death!!!!

Many leave because WT is so tight. Don't do this, don't go there, don't, don't, don't. For me it was the failed prophesy of the Generation. I quit school during the mid 80's to become pioneer and save the world, because the generation wouldn't pass. Unfortunately for me and many like me are paying the price for following a false prophet

Which type of "Apostate" is worse? An Atheist/Agnostic or one who joins a New Organized Religion?
by QuestioningEverything insorry, i posted this in another section.
meant to put it here.. just wondering which kind is worse to active jw's?
my aunt used to be a jw but now she is a mormon.

The one who dares t join another religion. That's the worst one, because it is like going back to Babylon the Great Harlot, caught by Satan and Demons and become their tool, for sure a person like that is possed by Satan.
So if you wish to leave JW's try to avoid telling them that you will join another religion.....

The Early Christians did not have any central administration. In fact we find the opposite.
- The first council took place in Jerusalem (Acts 15) in order to define if Gentile Christians should follow the Hebrew law of circumcision. The elders of Jerusalem, the Apostles, gathered in order to settle this matter, since Apostle Paul was facing a huge issue by the Hebrew Christians due to the fact that he was baptizing the Gentiles without circumcision.
- Apostle Paul didn't need any approval from any central Christian administration. After he converted to Christianity (at that time called Odos-The Way) he started preaching Jesus Gospel the Nations.
- In Antioch Church, they decided to change the name of Jesus followers known at that time as Odos- The Way, to Christians. Then the rest of the Christian congregations accepted their new name.
- After the end of the first council in Jerusalem, Apostle Paul proceeded with the circumcision of Timothy, actually he disobeyed the final commandments of the Council. Still there were no sanctions against him.
Christian church faced for 300 years severe persecution by the Romans, but beside the persecution Christianity survived. It was the message of the New God, who speaks about love and equality. This message was spread out due to the common Hellenic language and culture of the Roman Empire and that is why we also call the New Testament - The Greek Scriptures.
Constantine saw this new religion as a tool to unify and keep the vast Roman Empire together. The Nicea Council, although he was present, the Bishops defined Jesus substance. What was told there by the Bishops it was what was considered by the Church for the last 300 years. We have numbers of Early Church writings from various Bishops, like the Letter from Ignatius to the Church of Magnisius, around 120 A.D that clearly showed Jesus Divinity, and what did Christians held and believe.
The Church after coming out from the catacombs was finally free to build Temples to worship Jesus like the magnificent Temple Of Saint Sophia in Constantinople, the Capitol of the East Roman Empire. The symbol of the Ecumenical Patriarch was the 2 headed Eagle, pointing that the Roman Empire has West and East.
Unfortunately this unified Church came to an end at 1080A.D, when Schisma occurred with the Orthodox Apostolic Church and the Roman Catholic Church. The great issue of Filiogue still separates the East and West Church along with Infallible of Pope. At the Orthodox Church the Ecumenical Patriarch it is consider equal among the rest of the Bishops of the Church and he is only the presiding overseer of the Church, something that the Orthodox Church correctly couldn't accept Pope to be above all.
Indeed the East Roman Empire-wrongly called Byzantine by many, lasted for more than a 1000 years, from 325 A.D when Constantine moved the capitol of Roman Empire to Constantinople and ended at 1453 A.D when Ottoman Turks siege Constantinople, a city that was ready to fall due to the previous 2 Crusades that supposed to free the Holy Land, but actually they destroyed the structure of the East Roman Empire.

GLOBAL FLOOD . . . Did it Really Happen?
by sizemik inthis question became an off-topic sidetrack in another thread.
i thought it might be worth some debate so posted here .
the debate is basically between mainstream geological understanding of the earth's history and "young earth creationism" in particular with how the evidence relates to the occurrence of a global flood in the recent past.. a couple of points from the yec website www.icr.org are raised as examples in order to kick things off .

The Mesopoatamian Gilgamesh Epic was written long before the Hebrew Bible and discribes the Flood, similar with Noah-Gilgamesh. Besides Abraham came from that region, so he carried the traditions of the area.
Indeed it happened, around 3500 B.C, when Bosporus straits had natural land barrier that collapsed and it was to separating the Black Sea, at that time dry land, with the Aegean Sea. Plus we have the last Ice Age, 10,500 years ago when ice melt and regional floods occured in the Globe, that is why we have the story being repeated all over the world.
The idea of World wide flood it is rediculous and stupid.
