Okay, well that doesn't scripturally help me, but it did give me a big smile.

Please help me, I'm having a "discussion" with a JW in a chat room and. . .
by Ilovebirthdays ini need help remembering a scripture.
i'm sucessfully turning the conversation to the point where her answer is going to have to be something along the lines of the light keeps getting brighter and brighter, because we're discussing the "generation" teaching changing multiple times and why that is, and i want to bring out a scripture something along the lines of "you will know they are false teachers because their prophecies often fail that the jw's use against other religions", but not only do i not know what bible book, chapter and verse it is, i can't remember the correct wording to search it.. this site has already been a great help, because i've gotten her to flip flop her stance on the blood doctrine (first she told me fractions weren't allowed, and when i showed her they were, then she changed her tune, which caught the attention of others in there.
i was able to get her to the point where she is flustered and waffling over the "generation" teaching, which i was able to do thanks to the wonderful chart outlining all the flip flops that had been posted here, so thank you on those, but since i can't remember the scripture, i can't use the search function, because i can't remember what i'm talking about, as i've been out 13+ years, and didn't even keep my bible.. if you know what i'm talking about, could you please help me figure out what i'm talking about?.

Mary: I want to bang my head against a wall, because I've seen your guide before, and even bookmarked it, but I forgot. Thank you for putting in the time, and reminding me of it.

No, I don't think I meant either one of those, but I really like the Deuteronomy 18:22 one. Is that the whole scripture?
Thank you both for your help. I got the "I have to go do some research, and I'll be back tomorrow" spiel from her, so hopefully she returns.

General
A.) Name: (First name only please)
Ilovebirthdays
B.) Gender
Female
C.) Age:
35-40
Questions:
1.) How were you introduced to Jehovah's Witnesses:
Parents/Grandparents/Relatives were in before you were born and taught you
2.) How did you leave the religion:
Faded Away (slowly missed more and more meetings until you stopped going completely)
3.) What Age did you leave?
I left on my 25th birthday.
4.) Were you Baptized
Yes
5.) What General reason did you leave the religion:
Left for a boyfriend/girlfriend in the world,
Depressed, Didn’t feel like doing all the things required of you, felt oppressed by the rules.
A combination of both. Ultimately I ended up leaving for my boyfriend (now husband), but I was so depressed about being a JW, I was miserable all the time, and just wanted to die, and couldn't take being one anymore.
6.) How did you feel about the doctrine before leaving:
Believed everything said was correct
7.) Did your feelings about the doctrine effect the way you left?
No
8.) If you were disfellowshipped for sin, did your feelings on the doctrine effect you sinning in the first place?
N/A
9.) Did you feel the religion was a cult before leaving?:
I did not think they were a cult at all
10.) Did you research the religion's teachings after leaving?
No
11.) What are your feelings on the doctrine of the religion since leaving?
They are totally wrong
12.) How do you feel about the organization since leaving?:
They are evil
13.) How do you feel about the people since leaving?:
They are misguided people and I feel sorry for them
14.) Do you feel the religion is a cult now after leaving?:
Yes they are definitely a cult
15.) What is your opinion on the intelligence of those still in the Organization? :
I can't really make a blanket statement like that. I think some are intelligent, but deny, some are complete morons, and others are just trapped because of the disfellowshipping policy.
16.) Are you happier now that you’re gone?
I think every day about how happy I am to have left
17.) Do you feel that other than the fact you left the Jehovah’s Witnesses that they would agree with how you live your life?
I do a few things they would not agree with
18.) If a Jehovah’s Witness approaches you to discuss their religion you’re more than likely do the following:
Tell them I was raised a Jehovah’s Witness and feel they’re wrong
19.) Would you consider returning?
When hell freezes over
If I ever see another Kingdom Hall it would be too soon
Both of these are good
20.) How do you feel about discussing your time as a Jehovah's Witness?:
It's part of me I'll discuss it if it comes up

Yes. I am the only one in all of my family who has left, and only my mom and youngest sister will talk to me. They live about 10 minutes away, and only see us maybe twice a year, and basically just want me to drop off my children with them and have my husband and I go somewhere else. None of my old "friends" talk to me, and if anyone I knew in the congregation or surrounding ones sees me, they basically turn bright red and stare at the ground. I've had one elder be very nice to me when he saw me, but abruptly left when he asked if I would consider coming back and I said no.

Cost of regular pioneering?
by hoser ini was wondering if anybody had any figure$ on what it costs for a couple to regular pioneer if you would include the vehicle expense and the value of their time?.

For me it cost me a free college education, 3 1/2 days out of a 5 day work week where I could have been working and making money instead of knocking on doors, 3 extra years of living with my parents since I didn't make enough money to live on my own, the ability to own a car, and 3 years of living with no money for anything, since what little money I did earn went entirely to giving other pioneers gas money since I didn't drive, and paying rent to my parents.

I didn't use the internet, either.
I left in 1998, and it wasn't so much a "these people are totally wrong" decision as it was an "I hate being a JW so much I'd rather just die at Armageddon decision". It didn't take me long to decide that maybe they were wrong and maybe I wasn't going to die, and it took about a year for me to realize that they definitely were crazy and there wasn't a chance that I would die at the hands of a God named Jehovah. I never made it onto an "apostate" site until sometime last year and found out how much proof there was of their fallacies, but deep down inside, I've never believed that Jehovah was a god of love, and that was enough for me to not believe.

I usually eat 4 or 5 times daily thanks to having small children. The meals are Breakfast, Second Breakfast, Lunch, Snack and Dinner. Second Breakfast is more like a snack. I live in Oregon, and don't know anyone who uses the term supper.
