  Live on CNN; mad Muslims with knives!!

  one has to be very careful about the way things are presented.. we should know this better than most.. i saw a wonderful comic on tv last night; here's his routine, more or less;.

  (in reporter character); ... and now on cnn we're going to a mad islamic fanatic with a hook to see how the muslims feel about the west; how do you feel about the usa sir?

  (in islamic fanatic character); !!death!!

  What is your job/career? Like it?

  i'm a deskside support guy working for a service company, at one of their contracts.

  i enjoy fixing things, although some of the customers could use a good knock on the skull sometimes.. i make pretty decent money for what i am doing.. for me, it's what i've wanted to do my whole life.

  i had a computer from the time i was born, and love it since then.. what do you guys do to bring home the bacon?.

  I grow crystals. Before you get excited, unfortunately not the pretty ones you can buy at hippie stalls on markets. These are semiconductor crystals, used for making high speed communication devices, leds, laser diodes (stop yawning dammit! Stay awake at the back!)

  Do I like it? Well, my heart's not in it really. For my sins I have a degree in Mathematical Physics, and one day I'd love to go back to University and study field theory, but you need a brain the size of a supernova to study that stuff! I'd also like to do some sound engineering. My band are trying to record ourselves at the moment and I'm doing the mixing. I find it fascinating finding the best way to mix the instruments together - how to effect and EQ them and where to place them in the stereo field (goddammit, you've fallen asleep again!)

  I think I was watching the same tv show last night, Abaddon.

  He made me laugh when he said that he gets a much better reaction from people when he says he's from Persia, rather than Iran. Persian cat = cute elegant furry animal. Iranian cat = probably got a bomb strapped under it!

  Paradise Lost

  thinking back to my most earliest of memories, i remember the wonderment of life.

  i can still smell the pugnent floral breezes and experience being mesmerized into hypnosis watching the white linen sheets dance to an unheard accompaniment on the clothes line.

  mother seemed like a god to me the way she hung that laundry so effortlessly and happily.

  we have had some pretty amasing classic comedy in britian over the years.. faulty towers, the office, alan partridge,ali g etc.mind you weve had some very crap sit-com 2.4 kids etc.. who does it better the brits or the yanks?.

  Can't think of any ozzie comedy? Prisoner cell block H?? Hilarious, if unintentionally so...

  Seems to me you get brit comedy written by individuals or duos, so their quality rests on the genius (or crapness, as in 2.4 kids) of the individuals involved. For the American stuff I think they often have teams of many many gag writers so they can cherry pick out the good stuff. I don't know which is better! They both have a different feel. I never tire of watching "Porridge", and I've really enjoyed "Scrubs" recently.

  Will they ever say "Peace and Security"?

  with all the trouble around the world, do you think that one day we will hear "peace and security".

  we heard this so often when we were in the jw's, but no one knew how it could happen.

  i don't see any peace in the horizon.
