  Well, I am off line for the next while now......**waits for certain ones to quit partying before continuing**

  I hope this thread will not get sabotaged.

  My fervent wish for it now is that the Monkey will start posting on it and it will degenerate into a fun-fest filled with random pictures and gifs, arguments over the best scotch, several more invocations of Cofty's Law and at least four recommendations from the old posters to read Crisis of Conscience and/or Combatting Cult Mind Control.

  I love you all (admittedly some more than others) and I wouldn't have this forum any other way.

  I think it's a more powerful stance to be able to ignore the baiting and insulting tactic. Or at least not take it as being serious. And if it continues refuse to engage.

  Yes. I don't have to go back and re-read all 33 pages to find "proof" that people have officially "said" that they are making efforts to not bait. Some of the ones who have made the resolve, haven't posted here, so......whatever. **shrugs**

  I've seen the proof of it already, all week long. And in this thread.

  But the statement that these same people will do their best not to bait or insult... I did not think that was so obviously there. So I made mention of it. You don't agree. That is fine.

  I've seen movement to be more agreeable on BOTH "sides".

  This thread wasn't about everyone being on "perfect" behaviour. If you're looking for perfect behaviour from everyone, then yes, you will continue to be disappointed.

  It was acknowledged many times, that we will ALL slip up.

  The thread is about how each person can:

  1. Make efforts to not be baiting and insulting.

  2. Not be quick to "read into" a statement as being baiting and taunting.

  3. Ignoring it when we can.

  It was never about perfection. It's not that I don't agree with you. I just don't think we can demand perfection from each other.

  Well, sometimes we have to just face the fact that sometimes what we "see" in a statement is not actually there and was not intended.

  Which is what many here have been trying to say - not to take every disagreement as a personal attack. Not "reading into" a statment, just because we happen to dislike the person who said it.

  My being sarcastic was merely a chosen means of communication because I felt it was the only way to accurately get my point across. It's not an invalid line of communication.

  Unless an atheist uses it, right?

  See, Sab, you've railed against atheists before for using this "valid line of communication." Double standard.

  Because at the moment I see a lot of... I feel better; I won't rise to the bait anymore (but stating that is stating in a sense that it is the others -whomever they might be- are the ones making the baiting or insulting posts; so it becomes a rebuke as well)

  Orrrrrrrr........... you *could* look at it, like the ones who have resolved to not take the bait and not take disagreement as a personal attack, are in effect admitting that they participated in such things in the past and no longer wish to. So there really is no "rebuke", only in your own mind, if that's how you choose to view it.

  SAB: So the people who followed in Jesus the Nazarene's footsteps, you know, the ones that got crucified? From an atheist's perspective, what did they die for? If you had to rate them as a positive or negative effect to society at large, where would they fall? How about dying for one's beliefs? When is that the best course of action?
