Do you have a Jezebel photo?
by feenx inalright, so i am sharing some fun tidbits with my fiance about things i remember as a kid growing up.
we were trying to remember the woman from the old testament who murdered a king (she went to a christian school so we both got hammered with the bible) and we couldn't.
inevitably when you're talking about any women from the old testament jezebel comes up.

We had a sister in our hall who was the spitting image of the woman they used in that picture from the my book of bible stories. Needless to say what the nickname we had for her behind her back was. The funny thing was that she was a stuck up, snarling sister who never had anything nice to say, so whenever I looked at the picture I could imagine her voice screaming as she fell to the gound...

for those of you who started studying with the watchtower society as an adult (not born in)......did a friend or family member ever try to dissuade you from joining?
if so, what did you think of that person at the time?.

Hi Lavender,
I was a born in, though I can comment from my Mums experience when she got the truth as an adult in the late 60’s. All her family and my Dad and his family tried dissuading her. Though her bible study conductor convinced her that “all those trying to oppose you are really from Satan, as he does not want you to learn the truth.” And I’m sure she was quoted numerous scriptures to back up that statement. She sadly still hangs on to false reasoning like that and defends the society no matter what evidence to prove them wrong is put in front of her.

by xbro indid any other english jw's struggle at school with their spellings?
reading american english all the time in the mags and stuff realy got me spelling the american way and so my schooling suffered,sometimes whole words didnt exist in the queens english!.
i guess you american xjw's wont quite understand!lol.

Most pathetic Special Needs Talk

It couldn’t be worse than the time the elders forgot that they had a local needs talk and forgot to discuss what it should be about. So lame ass elder spends 15 minutes ad-libbing under the theme ‘microphone handling,” I kid you not.
He got his teenage son up on stage and showed the proper way to hold the microphone when giving a comment, how close to have it near your mouth and so on.....

What They Tell a CO
by WalkTall indid it ever bother any of you that you and your family were talked about to the co during the elders meeting with him?
and for those who have been elders, my question is: how much do they tell him?
for some reason, it has always bothered me that this man, who is a complete stranger really, is informed of family or personal situations through the lense of elder's opinions.

I always used to find it funny how elders could gossip and slander anyone they want in their own conversations, yet it wasn’t gossip or slander, it was “a discussion between 2 spiritual men!”
I was working the CBD territory with 2 elders and they were bagging the crap out of the CO who I actually liked. I was informed it was as described above.......
One of those elders is now a c/o himself, hope he gets his just deserts.
BTT. Walk Tall, yes I know what is represented to the c/o by an elder or the body is all one sided. The c/o will act as judge, jury & executioner without the one being spoken off to present his side or for the c/o to actually spend some time with that person during his visit to get to know him. (Personal experience).
