a west milford man pleaded guilty to child endangerment offenses friday for sexual encounters he had with two teenage girls he met through his membership at the jehovah's witnesses temple in town.. tom blankenship, 23, had been befriended by an elder at the church and was often invited over for meals and visits, said joseph del russo, passaic county chief assistant prosecutor.. from the fall of 1998 through april 2000, blankenship had sexual relations with one of the elder's relatives, a 17-year-old girl.
he had similar sexual contact with another relative, a 14-year-old girl, from june 2001 through feb. 21, del russo said.. although there was no physical force used in the incidents, blankenship was charged with multiple sexual assault charges because of the victims' ages.

Please... when I was 17 I had a boyfriend that age. The 14 yr old is a problem but a 17 yr old and 23 yr old is not unusual.

preventing baptism of minors
by og inhere is the situation: my wife is a very faithful true believer (and a wonderful person, i will add, who really wants to do what's right) i have been da'd about a year, and we have 2 children.
our oldest is 13, and really buys into the witness line ( as, of course, i professed to until last summer) and i am fairly sure she is considering baptism.
here is my question: as one half of her parents, is there any legal doctrine that would allow me to prevent her baptism until she is 18?

I assume you are male. How about trying the "I'm the head of my family" speech. Tell them you prohibit YOUR children from getting baptized till they are of age to decide. It may work depending on the elders. If they think they can bring you into the 'Trooth' by your wife's submission they may go alone with it.

Queenie...as long as you make sense to yourself that's all that matters...Hun! Do you have someone to talk with in person? You seem to need someone to talk things over with. If you call your counties mental health dept. they can refer you to someone and they usually don't charge people who really need assistance. I don't think you would have a problem getting an appointment.

Thanks for pointing out the typo. For the record I don't have an Ivy League degree but my brothers both have MBA's from Ivy league schools. Maybe that was the confusion. I missed the boat because of the trOOth. I have a BS and I'm almost finished with a BFA. I'm merging my two fields in an unusual way. After which I will seek the highest degree in my new field which is a Masters of Fine Art(MFA).
Actually, I suck at writing and I hate it. This is not unusual for visual people. I'd rather draw you a picture. I could debate much better in person you might run from me.

If however, like me, you prefer to antagonize the people you don't like, then by all means continue. I doubt Hyghlandyr cares one way or the other, and if anything will you give you an ulcer long before it does him.
Well, up to a point then I *ignore* them...and I don't think Hygh does care how he affects others. That would be the point, he doesn't have boundaries. I have a pretty high tolerance for the these things, so no need to worry about my getting an ulcer.Naeb, Hygh and I are just discussing we are not arguing. This is the way Irish discuss.
