Should WTS Charge Interest?
by Amazing inwhen i first became accounts servant (before the elder/ms structure) i was surprised to learn that the watchtower society charged interest on kingdom hall loans.
the rate was 3%.
typical interest rates from commercial lenders on home mortgages at the time was about 6% to 7% ... i questioned the practice, and the jw man who turned to accounts records over to me made the point that inflation was about 3% or 4%, and therefore, the soceity was merely getting back the same buying power it had when it loaned the money ... and it beat bank rates, so he saw nothing wrong with it.

Amazing what do other religions do about borrowing for building? My understanding was that the KH building fund was supposed to be used for those that can't afford to build. Let alone pay back a loan for the building. Perhaps they use the extra monies outside the US.
In all fairness, I know someone that donated about $5000 dollars to the WT. When her non-JW husband discovered she had given so much he was furious. She asked for the money back and they returned it even though she hadn't requested the loan condition to her donation.

Amazing blowing me away again! Lyin Eyes...you have astounded me with your observation. You are truly a sweet lady. I would have been drawn to you in a JW congregation because you have been one of the few Christians in the room. Lyin says:
Wouldn't it be loving, if the elders handling such cases, along with the parents , put their hand on the childs shoulder to give comfort , like Jesus did? If they did this maybe the child wouldn't grow up to think that he/she was unworthy of a kind word or compassion.

I understand your concern for your friend but the chat room isn't a support group for those abused. Most persons go into this chat room for fun and socializing. It sounds like your friend needs a safe environment with support and this isn't a milieu. If she is traumatized by someone joking around in chat then she needs professional assistance that the chat room of this site can't provide. If someone were that fragile I wouldn't suggest they come here. You may want to ask some individuals to email her and have private correspondence.

LOL...I believe I read at jw singles about an 85 year old 'brother' that wanted to marry who wouldn't mind having children. It's amazing how desperate these 'sisters' can get to marry.
The sad aspect of this is he WILL eventually find some desperate 'sister' that will put up with him....hehee the 85 year old too..
