I find it very interesting that JWs never seem to be preaching to real tribal peoples? You know, the ones that don't wear much, if any, clothing and carry large spears or bows and arrows?

Cover of the September 2016 Watchtower.
by jwfacts inthe cover of the 2016 september watchtower has an islander couple preaching.
the brother looks like he may be fijian in a traditional skirt standing in a river, doing a presentation on an apple ipad.
i can't imagine there are many families that can afford an ipad in the pacific islands.

Confusing Opinions with Facts
by cofty inin a discussion about the best flavour of ice cream everybody's opinion is equally valid.. in a discussion about the shape of the earth or the origin of species everybody's opinion is equally irrelevant.
only objective facts and evidence matter.. confusing these two categories is a common feature of conversations in this forum.
people deserve respect, errors do not..

Seriously, how can anyone in the industrialized world state there is more evidence of the existence of God's Kingdom in Heaven than evidence supporting the existence of electricity, gravity, and wind?! (ala Stephen Lett)

Just as a general suggestion for those on the board, if you are posting sarcastic comments, I suggest placing them between the following delimiters:
<sarcasm> write text here </sarcasm>.
That way, there will be no confusion.

They think they do, but in reality, they do not.
For example, if you took these guys and dropped them in the middle of the Kalahari desert, would they be able to survive? I'm thinking no.

That's a very nice picture, Happy Guy. I really like it.
Thanks so much for sharing this. Wish I could have been there. Instead I was in the office meeting up with a colleague from Newfoundland. He told us about 'Iceberg Towing'. I think this could be my next career move!

"Just don't overthink the truth"
by stuckinarut2 inso after almost a year of complete inactivity and non attendance, i ran into a nice brother from the local congregation.. after some nice chit-chat, he says "we really miss you and your family...etc...you were always the kind and supportive one, the approachable and encouraging one in the congregation.
your absence has confused so many".
i thanked him and said "oh no, no individual has stumbled us.

I watched my parents become disabled thinkers thanks to Botchtower. Both my parents also became chronically ill. The human brain is meant to be inquisitive. Attempting to shut this down causes problems.

Environmentalists? Not Necessarily, Helping Nonetheless....
by Doubtfully Yours inwhether the average jw appreciates it or not (i certainly do not), the wtbts sure is helping in the environmentalists' movement of creating as much a paperless society as possible in order to preserve trees and create other favorable situations for humanity, such as avoiding so much trash and chemical waste involved in the printing/shipping process.. in order to help me adjust to this new phase within the org, i've reasoned it all this way.
anybody else recognizes that this going all out electronic/computerized is, of course, first a most profitable effort, but also has a secondary benefit of helping out to preserve the environment.......?!.

JW_Rogue said: JWs don't care much about the environment,
I experienced this firsthand when recycling became the norm in our province. My Mom was livid that she had to start sorting her garbage. I asked her why she didn't think we should be looking after the Earth? She didn't really give an answer but my suspicion is that the JW mindset of 'God is going to fix everything once Armageddon comes' was very prevalent there.

Running ahead of Jehovah can be done with a slow walk.
by donny ina few days ago i read a post of someone who has recently awakened to what the watchtower bible and tract society really is.
in their comments, they stated that they had been accused of "running ahead of jehovah.".
"running ahead of jehovah" was a statement levied at me many times during my convoluted journey through that organization.

smiddy said: I guess Jehovah and/ or the organization have never heard the fact that "The distance between two points is a straight line"
As opposed to tacking
Good point smiddy. I think that only goes to show that their goal is not to be at all straight with anyone. I've never found any religion's mathematical or geological or orienteering abilities to be any good at all.

Great article about intelligent design in science without being religious
by EndofMysteries infor those who think that belief or the possibility of intelligent design means you must accept or believe everything or anything you have heard about god or a god is incorrect.
i'll quote one line from the article, " but intelligent design, unlike creationism, is not based upon the bible.
design is an inference from biological data, not a deduction from religious authority.
