  i know that some people on the board have experience of being mormons, so i would be interested in your feedback.

  at church this afternoon it was an uncanny experience.

  in the past i've read a lot about mormons, so i thought i was prepared in general for what it would be like.

  Who are the "Inactive"?

  this was my starting point in this journey of rediscovery, and i've made great strides, but here i am again asking the same question.

  all this talk re the rc and the shunning of the inactive ones.

  there is no announcement made obviously about "shun sister so-and-so, as she is inactive.

  My Dad is inactive. He has a brain disease called frontotemporal lobe dementia. He will never be active again

  Anti-religion T-Shirt idea

  i want a t-shirt.

  something that says "religion is crap, i don't care which one".. i was thinking of adapting the "coexist" one to say "toxic" instead which is great because it removes 'science' but includes all the major world religions.. anyone else have any ideas?.

  also a tag-line ... "whatever god you worship, he's a weirdigan".

  two days ago a new book was released for download, called "ever-changing teachings of jehovah's witnesses".

  it was originally written by a polish jw scholar (who never was a jw himself) włodzimierz bednarski, with a help from szymon matusiak, who was a jw and an elder, and is a result of years of labourious work to compile quotes regarding every single doctrine the book describes.

  it covers the most important changes in years 1879—2015.

  Thank you for posting this slimboyfat. I KNEW there had to be some document(s) of Botchtower's that my Mom had read. She did a complete 180 on Evolution when I was in my teens, telling me that there was something to the Theory of Evolution after all. I was left in shock. This was just one of a few things that occurred as I grew up that led me to the conclusion this religion was/is not for me.

  The smug arrogance of "having the truth".

  has anyone noticed that witnesses (from the top down) seem to have a quiet form of smug arrogance toward all non witnesses?.

  perhaps it comes from being told how "special and unique" they are but they end up looking down on all normal members of the community because they are not witnesses.. so any form of "love" they show those in the territory is also limited as long as they accept the message...otherwise they are viewed contemptuously as "worldly" and therefore of little value...after all,they will be destroyed right?.

  Once my parents became baptized and 'zealous' in the truth, they became holier-than-thou, self-righteous, mean-spirited a$$holes. But their aging knocked the wind out of this particular adopted type of sail for them. So much for "never growing old in this system of things".

  So far I've been allowed to bank the hours and take them off in lieu of getting paid.

  Here's another little tidbit that I didn't mention. We used to bank our hours in a company tool/application. NOW we just track these hours personally/privately. That way, the government doesn't know how many hours are being worked as overtime.

  I agree hoser, but this not paying overtime to salaried employees is a widespread North American corporate model at the moment. So far I've been allowed to bank the hours and take them off in lieu of getting paid. But they raise their eyebrows when I tell them how much time that is. I'd really like to have the choice of getting paid or taking the time. But it's all about managing expenses now. Luckily, I don't have a smartphone for work... yet. They eliminated the pagers as these were costing money (Yay!).

  When they call me at home, I don't answer (this is one reason I continue to have a land line). Of course, I am rarely home during my off time anyways so that's kind of a no-brainer. I was up front with my last manager and former team lead. I told them straight... if you want me off hours, you pay me to carry a pager, otherwise, I'm unavailable and you will not get me.

  in response to the 37 threads in my evolution is a fact series - see bottom of op for links - perry posted a link to an article "44 reasons why evolution isn't true".. i offered him a challenge on the thread and by pm.

  predictably he is totally ignoring it, so i am offering the challenge to any evolution-denier who thinks they have evidence to support their position.. please present one specific piece of evidence for creationism.. my task will be to refute it with evidence within 24 hours.. then i will present one piece of evidence for evolution and your challenge will be the same.. all posts must be as succinct as reasonably possible.

  Dagney, Hawking's "Genius" series looks very interesting. Unfortunately, it isn't playing for me (I'm in Canada). Are there any other links that might work? I looked on YouTube but nothing direct there yet.

  So I guess Armageddon is truly coming for Russian JWs. Meanwhile, all is clear here on the North American front.

  Perhaps Armageddon is going to be a regional thing.
