Sorry you were taken for a ride Mr Bowen. There are so many cons out there, I guess I don't blame you for going to some one with no connections with jws. Good luck to you man.
Peace James.

everyone knows how the jws teach you must be a jw in order to survive, well look at this qoute from the seventh day adventist:.
everson, charles t., the mark of the beast, reprinted from bible lectures by permission of pacific press publishing association, owners of the copyright; washington, dc, hagerstown, md, review and herald publishing association.. this booklet is being circulated in the seventh-day adventist church, and is a clear explanation of a seventh-day adventist doctrine, namely, that people who worship on sunday have the mark of the beast of revelation, and will be lost eternally.
hereby, the seventh-day adventist church sets herself apart and makes the claim that only she contains true christians.
They have much in common because the WT is rooted in adventist movement- plenty on that subject on other ex-jw sites.
Ahhhh, now it makes sense, thanks..

I didn't say it would be important I just would like to hear what they think about the quote..
These people have more in common with jws than I thought. I am still reading I found this..

This study will be on the 7th Day Adventist. This cult began in the early 19th century by William Miller (1782-1849), who was a FALSE PROPHET! He predicted that the Lord Jesus Christ would return to Earth in glory on Mar. 21, 1844, and later on Oct. 22, 1844! Neither prophecy was fulfilled!

Editing to add this
Therefore, the cult was instituted by a Bible rejecting HERETIC! Furthermore, he was a LIAR because he spoke presumptuously concerning the second advent of the Lord Jesus Christ. One can't help but think of the Jehovah's Witnesses (JWs) who stated in The Battle of Armageddon, Studies in the Scriptures, Series IV, 1897, p. 621, "But we ARE in the end of this Gospel age, and the KINGDOM is being established or set up. Our Lord, the appointed KING, IS NOW PRESENT, since October 1874, A. D., according to the testimony of the prophets..."
He compared them with the jws teachings. I had no idea. This is all very interesting to me.. Well see you all in the morning..gnite

Hereby, the Seventh-day Adventist Church sets herself apart and makes the claim that only she contains true Christians. It is therefore an important booklet, and if it can be refuted, then several of the Seventh-day Adventist positions and doctrines fall.
What do you think of that? I wish there was a jw around who could give us an opinion on that quote.
good morning everyone.
not trying to force any of you to tell your ages, but how many of you were around durning the 1975 scandle?
did you believe the world would really end?
Make that "scandal....OzziePost
Thank you, Thank you, I wasn't sure about the spelling I thought I could get away with it
The 1975 stupidity pushed me to the brink. The oral sex stupidity pushed me over the edge ..shutterbug
The oral sex huh? LOL ...Cool.
But I did see brothers and sisters give up their whole lifestyles and move to "where the need was greater" ... losing their houses, jobs, businesses, etc. ; I can't believe the WT covers over and blames it on the mistaken notions of the rank and file.......CG
Now that's bad I wonder if any of them can sue for losing everything?
My father was considered by the other elders to be wrong to remind the congregation that nobody knew when Armageddon would come except Jehovah.......Robdar
Now that's a good point and something I would never have thought about...
The elders that went deep into debt, thinking that they would not have to repay after Armageddon, resented my father for not having done the same. .....Robdar
I bet they'll listen the next time..
At midnight new years eve Dec 31 1975 my Catholic cousin called my mother and laughed his ass off saying "Well?????" Purplev
LOL,,Now I can picture an Uncle doing that.
Never actually did it - but had alot of fantasies about digging big holes out in the backyard to "hide" stuff - Pettygruder
I would do something like that if I thought the end was coming. I watched a show about what would happen if one of the big bombs (you know we get nuked) were dropped on us..Ever since that I try to figure out where's the best place to hide food in a situtaion like that.
. My mom used to tell us that we would be living in the woods when the day came. I was scared all the time...Jade
Jade I am sorry to hear that but, it's something like that now with my sister. She came back from a "very important" circuit overseers talk. They are at it again.. She was told some of them are going to move into the mountians..I swear!
Did you believe the world would really end? Hell, yeah! morrisamb
Hey Man where you been hiding?!! Long time no see, and now where's the other M?
What were your opposing families like towards you? They liked me. They really liked me!
HAHA, Yeah you are a likeable person, I like you too man..
we were living in Armageddon with my abusive Father..so the big doom day seemed something to look forward to!
I hear you man. It was good to hear from ..Stop by some time and say hi..
Everyone thanks for your comments and experiences it was great I enjoyed reading every answer..

What did you give up waiting for the big A?
What were your opposing families like towards you?
Did you hide food thinking you would need it later?
Last, what happened with your lives after the big A didn't happen?
I'm going to go now and put that drug called coffee in me, busy day,bbl

ok i'm probably way behind here but i just got the jan.1st 2003 issue of the wt and was looking at the service report and notice the 2.8% increase wordlwide, as opposed to the 1.7% on the last years report.
many here have posted before that this figure is somehow "fiddled" by the wt and is not accurate due to the new 15 minute rule, how is that?
i looked at an independant source www.adherents.com and note that they say the witnesses are meticulous and known as particularly accurate in their data, and even "conservative" in their estimates of membership compared with other religious groups who tend to inflate their numbers.
as a former Society Man when i was at bethel this discussion came up about the hours being correct- you see when the wt counts hours it does say 1,500,000,000 hours o no the wt will say something like 1,507,87,732 hours
I know this has nothing to do with the topic at hand, but what does hours have to do with God? Does he give more blessing to those who put in more work less blessing for those who don't? What's the big deal about how many hours you been out? Will some one explain this to me please.
Peace James
Thanks everyone you really got me to thinking, you brought out some good points and things I hadn't even considered when it comes to religious beliefs. Some of your remarks makes me feel all the more why I want it all destroyed, as one poster said, "I don't need someone decideding my spirituality for me" I agree I don't want people telling me how to believe. Man your comments were really interesting, you are just everyday people like me, I say this because I was never a jws, I didn't make it pass a first book I didn't know we had so much in common when it comes to thinking about religion and God.
May you too have peace AGuest, and others.
Peace James.
