has anyone who has attended a district convention this year seen any protestors or demonstrators?.
have you ever protested or demonstrated or maybe even handed out literature at a convention or assembly?
what happened?
a bunch of badly dressed people show up, with huge beards (likely trying too hard to be un-witnesslike) screaming and yelling at people 2 feet away from them, somehow their bad breath fills the open air, even more apparent than their retarded message.
All i could think was "jesus, get a life"
now, i think the same thing, and i feel they are a detriment to any real opposition to the practices of the WTBTS...
i'm a long time lurking of this site(2 years) and a first time poster.
to provide a little background of myself i was not raised as a witness but started studying when i was 19 and got baptized at age 21. a few months after i was baptized i left due to the constant worship of the faithful and discreet slave and the lack of emphasis on christ.
for reasons i'm not sure about yet i decided to attend the district convention last week.
I think you should become a bit more educated about many of the fallacies the witnesses believe in - and i dont mean doctrinally (as i believe they have most of this right), i meant the ATTITUDE, before you get back into it, this was if you do get into it, you will at least be a step ahead, and be AWARE of certain things.
why cant a guy and a girl be alone in a car?
why make such a big deal about michael = jesus when the evidence is flimsy (even though understandable)?

there are alot of things to criticize the WTBS but this video was pathetic. his other ones dont inspire anything that great either.
this actually kinda showed the INDIVIDUAL witnesses being nice and reasonable.
I didnt see them "lying" - they might be brainwashed but the elders book ISNT secret, everyone knows about it. Its just private, as mentioned. THe pioneer book is private too, no? Although i dont understand why you cant see it if its just quotes from material we have - i have heard elders say its because they normally write somewhat private notes in it.

dozens of doctrine changes that effect the lives of the rank and file: the fds are only imperfect men and didn't understand the bible truths at the time.. pedophiles that are protected or not reported and allowed to stay in the congregation: these men are imperfect and this sin isn't unique to jws.
the organisation has it's problems just like any other...they are not perfect after all.. all their prophesies - failed: the fds are only imperfect men and have never claimed to be a prophet.. i am truly sick of this overused excuse.
im sorry, i do not follow their teachings anymore, so, any changes they make are irrelevant to me. The society as a whole is irrelevant to me.

of course, pro-JW boards go against the teachings of their "society" so i dont even figure them in.
But this place claims to be a bastion of free thinking, freedom from the organization, but in reality, it seems maybe you dont ban pro-jw's off the bat, but you feel a need to start numerous threads about them, calling them out, exclusively... why ban them when you can harrass them?!?!?
there are constant examples of how closed minded some people here are, they claim to be SO open now, oh we are FREE of those RULES!!! but they are just looking for another master.

anyway, there's no way a small group can reverse the corrupt teachings of the mainstream religion of almost 2000 years without making some mistakes. They really came a long way - really, the JWs are a step in the right direction, they just fuck it all up with more, additional, almost pharisaic teachings.
I cant speak for the organization, the highers up could be right backwards for all i know.
however, the people i knew in the organization were open to change, and waiting for more change, they realize even RIGHT NOW that the borg doesnt have everythign right. How could they?
