I think you are reading WAY too much into this.
"Nothing" is just short for "Nothing important" or "Nothing that needs to be discussed." My ex used to reply "oh nothing" to that question - I never once thought that meant she was just sitting there staring at a wall. She was probably thinking about sex or something.
I suspect the 'nothing' response has nothing to do with gender, and everything to do with the family/cultural environment you were raised in.

Hi BoreanBill. I think a lot of us have a lot stories - good and bad - regarding our experiences as JW's. What was your experience? What aspects about it did you find to be most positive, and most negative?
For me, the positives were the few interesting and creative people I met (most of which are out now, or on the edge.. creative people rarely last in THOU SHALL NOT HAVE A PERSONALITY land), while the negatives involved the molestation of my ex and her harrassment and humiliation by the elders (aka the self-appointed 'shepards', puke, puke), as well as the lies and misrepresentation of science and humanity by the WT.

Telling any potential girlfriend you used to be a JW is the kiss of death, dude.
Oh, good grief.
Most people really don't know, nor care to know, that much about JW's. It is an initial curiosity, then not much more - especially if you were raised in.
I know several ex-jw's who are now happily married to nice, normal people. All of them had an initial curiosity about it, but for the most part it's just history - and everyone has a history. "JW" is really little worse than "die hard catholic".
For everyone I've met, "I was a JW" amounts to pretty much nothing. People either like me or they don't - and being a JW at one point in time has nothing to do with it.
If anything hurts asilentone, it's his complete inability to just F*CKING PICK ONE and get to know THEM, as a person, and love it. Seriously.. I think I've shared more meaningful smiles than asilentone's dates and dinners amount to. (I'm just saying, make something HAPPEN already... and I don't mean sex. Oh, nevermind.)

Nobody knows everything, but that doesn't make education useless.
We should all strive to have a clear, free, open, and criticially thinking mind - even if it is something we never quite 100% acheive.

i tried, i thought i could make it work, it seemed so easy, but alas, in my project to turn a used $3 cigar box into a functional humidor i failed miserably.
i never could make the box airtight enough and allow enough air to circulate through to keep the cigars moist enough with a passive humidifier.
the humidity kept falling too low, i kept have to try to seal more edges of the box and eventually i started losing cigars.. i broke down today and bought a $40 humidor and in the space of just a few hours it is already keeping the cigars more moist and humid.. i failed.
I tried, I thought I could make it work, it seemed so easy, but alas, in my project to turn a used $3 cigar box into a functional humidor I failed miserably.
I worked for a guy who raised over 6 million dollars to start his own company - 2 years later all the money was spent and he had to lay off everybody and declare bankruptcy. (And this guy is no idiot - he spent the money on the business - not on bullshit.)
He's already talking about his next company/project.
So.. I wouldn't worry too much about the cigar box.
