Sounds alot like the Islamic concept of "taqiyya" which is basically lying to an unbeliever won't be held against you, or if its for the advancement of the cause its a good thing.

What do most ex-JWs "believe" after leaving?
by EverAStudent inhas anyone done a survey to determine what faith system, religion, or set of religious beliefs ex-jws tend to settle into after leaving the organization?
if not, would you care to post what you presently consider to be your own personal religion (e.g.
protestant, catholic, baptist, jw but not in the organization, agnostic, atheist, ...) and especially what you presently believe about jesus (was he a real historical human, is he god, is he an angel, ...).. thank you!.

I would describe myself as an agnostic at this point in my life. As for others I knew who used to be JW's most are either atheist or agnostics, it seems very rare for them to return to whatever religion they previously came from, or in the case of those that were born in it seems the JW experience kills any desire to return to another organized religion.

maybe my dad will catch it and be tempted to investigate further.

There were a few JW related stories in the 90's on the major network newsmagazine type shows. They dealt with molestations and how the organization was sweeping things under the rug. I haven't seen one in a long time though.

JWs just came to my door and didn't even knock

i ignored it for 30 seconds, because that's just what they do.
figured it was a cat or the mailman.

I wish I had thought of that when I was going door-to-door. I hated it. I always got this anxious feeling. I was painfully shy and it always felt like what I was doing was kind of rude and imposing but it was what the Elders told me God wanted me to do so I did it.
It got to the point though after years where I would show up to go out to field service, make sure the elders saw me and at least got the impression I was going out and then I would pull a Ninja and just disappear.

Its funny how CAIR seems more concerned about the theoretical victims of retailation attack when they could be muslim rather than the REAL victims being attacked by a muslim.

How could he have PTSD? He never deployed. And please don't even try the whole Pre thing with me. Sure you get anxious, and yeah you have problems sleeping, you worry about what could be. But if it was Iraq, not only would I not be that worried about it, its the calmer of the 2, and as a freaking Doctor he will never leave the wire or even be at a FOB that is not at least a lvl 2 or 3 care facility and thus not something that is going to be under seige or out in Indian country so its going to be more or less like being stuck on a small post state side with only the occasional CRAM going off.

A couple guys from my unit are talking with friends at Ft Hood and talking about if this guy ever recovers and gets out in the open the guy is going to catch some bullets. To think of how much satisfaction the guys from the brigades, battalions, companies and platoons that lost some of their fellow Soldiers would have if they got to deliver a little Joe justice. I cann't say I would not want to be one of those guys. But I would hope that the UCMJ work its magic and hope they give this guy the death penalty he so deserves.

I am always mystified by guys who join the Army but personally oppose just about everything the Army stands for and is built on. Not only does this go for this particular individuals views on Islam but there are guys who are hard core leftist that join up and are malcontents through and through. In particular guys who join the Army but do not want to deploy. They cannot seriously think this is a reasonable expectation. We get told from the minute we take the Oath that you are virtually guranteed to deploy, probably multiple times. If you complete basic or the Officer course you have to be delusional to not expect to be deployed. My only guess logically is that they join in hopes of sabotaging the Army, or in this guys case outright kill Soldiers.
