The JW interpretation of Revelation 11:18 of ecological ruin doesn't square up. (Was the idea of a carbon footprint even known to the early Church?) This section of Rev parallels the account of the flood from Genesis where Almighty God says that he will bring the flood as result of the earth being ruined with violence.

Jehovah will "bring to ruin those ruining the earth"
by teel inrevelations 11:18. this was a stumbling block for me (shame on me eh).
when we were studying the revelations book, the elder took his time to elaborate on how wicked this world is, and went on and on about the ecological disasters our world is facing, and how those wicked people only care about the money while they destroy the earth.. now, although i live in a middle-road developing country (romania), the people here by no means are ecological friendly.
those wicked people who are destroying the earth, are not some special class of people isolated in their ivory tower with elaborate plans to harm any living, but it is us.

What Things Were YOU Counseled For?
by minimus inelders love to counsel people.
it feeds their ego.
over the years, you must've been counseled on different things.. when i was almost of age to become a ms, an elder counseled me for my "lack of seriousness".

Cola at the District Convention
by lepermessiah inremember some of the garbage served at the district conventions?.
i was at the dollar store today and noticed they started carrying "shasta" cola.. i started laughing because they used to serve that skunk water at the district conventions when i was a kid.. they always brought in the cheapest, nastiest soda they could buy.. one year we had something called vess cola - that was actually worse than the shasta!
then, they ran out on sunday and had to buy pepsi from the local distributor - we were all rejoicing!!.

I went for the Shasta "Lemon-Lime" which tasted like Lemon Pledge. What did we have to pay? Something like 50 cents for saying they paid a nickel for? If I was more zealous back then I would have went and over-turned the cases of Shasta!!

If it is just on the surface of the wood soap and water will clean it off though it may still be stained. Bleach isn't recommended for mold.

Satan and demons...? To any who believe in them.
by angel eyes inany of you who believe in satan or demons, have you had experiences with them?.
have you ever seen satan?.

Yeah -- I was called a child of Satan too. LOL
Having been raised as a JW I will say that too often witnesses believe in the power of Satan and the demons more than they believe in the power of God. How so? We routinely denied miracles and the power of the Holy Spirit as things for "Bible times" but believed all sorts of crazy stories of modern-day walking smurfs, demonic rapes, levitating objects, etc. etc. Another example is that JW's believe in demonic possession but don't believe in exorcisms by the power of God.
Yes I believe in Satan and I believe in demons. But more than that I believe in God's Word and from the Word I learned that God is sovereign, even over the Enemy, and that Jesus has given believers authority over demons by his Name. Having had encounters with unclean spirits I will testify that through Jesus, believers still have authority over them and they must submit to Christ.
As a Witness I tended to be in fear of the Enemy and demons but learning the truth now it isn't much of a concern to me. I am concerned with seeing people who are opressessed by unclean spirits liberated and I praise God that this is possible through Jesus Christ.

More Beatles Remasters..........
by lepermessiah insorry, i cant resist another beatles topic.. i have picked up all but three of the beatles remasters.. they sound totally brilliant....... i heard a few complaints about the white album (too "muddy" in places) but overall i was very excited about the sound.that album has such an interesting dynamic that i could see how some people would feel that way.
that album is a brilliant muddled mess of styles - only the beatles could pull it off.. abbey road is still the album i am getting a big kick out of - here comes the sun you can hear the pick hitting the strings on the guitar, mean mr mustard, the intro sounds like you are sitting in the room with ringo, etc...........i keep playing with the balance knob on my stereo to hear the different channels and really hear the details......great fun .

We picked up the Beatles rockband game figuring it would add some variety for parties. I didn't really know too much about the Beatles music except for the songs they play on oldies radio like "I wanna hold your hand". Anyway having played the game with friends we actually liked some of the music so I went out and picked up Abbey Road and Let It Be. We tend to prefer the Lennon music to the stuff McCarthy wrote -- but Octopus Garden is the best of it all.

Appreciate the updates --
As for the question of what scriptural basis they will use for this possible "generation" change - that is a bit old-school Watchtower. The new guard simply makes the statement without the scriptural gymnastics used in the past. Take the way the other recent generation change was handled or how dropping 1935 as the cut-off was handled. The magazine simply made the statement with maybe a loosely relevant scripture in parantheses for support. They didn't really call too much attention to the "new light" and as a result it wouldn't surprise of many even recognized a change.

In order to reconcile their shunning a typical JW will believe that it is you who has broken off the relationship where in reality it is they who are refusing it. This is reinforced from the platform and in the literature.

"My Book of Bible Stories" returned for being "too violent for kids." You Agree?
by Witness 007 inobviously a book written for kids by old dumb morons at bethel the book starts with abels murder {with pictures for the kids} people begging to get into the ark before drowning to death...a good lesson for kiddies!
a women putting a tent peg thru someones temple {with pictures} moses killing an egyptian.
etc a horrified atheist lady returned the books my mother gave as "gifts" {count 2 placements} after seeing the horrific topics, she decided it was "not apropriate for her kids.".

Probably the most graphic illustration is the guy with a tent peg driven into his head. In the original US book this was B&W which tones it down a bit but in other editions is in bright technicolour red.

With the Governing Body aging and the pool of "anointed" growing more and more shallow, Fred Franz developed the concept of "Given Ones" or "Nethinim Class". The idea was for high-ranking members of the "other sheep" to assist the "anointed" governing body. (This was when Governing Body still oversaw the business end of the society and held office in the corporations.) It was sold that such ones would take more and more responsibility helping to oversee the work as the "anointed" class diminished on earth.
With the recent ending of the 1935 cut-off for the "heavenly calling" and a current bumper crop of younger "anointed" ones in high positions within the Organization the danger of not having enough "anointed" ones for oversight has been temporarily averted. It has been awhile since the literature has spoken about the Nethinim Class though I believe the Governing Body still have high-ranking assistants.
