i agree with you about it being a mental defect. but i also think that for the most part, they are just plain evil. i see no difference between the bishops and priests in the catholic church and the elders in jehovah's witnesses...
sometimes i feel that when we say a person's 'sick or mentally ill', we sort of excuse them for their behavior, as if they can't help themselves. these guys can hold down jobs, support their families, guide the flock, etc. so they are in full control of their faculties when they molest these children. and abusing their power as well. how loathesome...

Current witnesses and 'free speech'

well i'm just curious as to why an active member of the wtbts would want to fraternize with a whole lotta ex-jw's.
i mean, that's why i came here, to find other exiles like myself.

i'm new and have been browsing some of the posts and am surprised to find active witnesses here, pissing and moaning about this board and how other posters are mean to them, cursing at them, etc. well i'm just curious as to why an active member of the wtbts would want to fraternize with a whole lotta ex-jw's. i mean, that's why i came here, to find other exiles like myself. can't you get disfellowshipped for simply talking to apostates, even if it is in cyberspace? i'd also like to know where the 'real jehovah's witnesses message boards' are, the ones one or two of the active witnesses have referred to in several posts, and whose location seems to be classified information. if you have your own boards why do you come here? this board obviously is for anyone, current or disfellowshipped, so why complain about other posts? why not just leave i don't get it. as one who left the tyranny, lies and hypocrisy of the witnesses far behind me, i can't express enough how wonderful it is just to read the feelings and circumstances of others like myself- people who wised up and left them in the dust. it's heartbreaking, too, to read such anguish. and i hope in some small way we can all help each other get over all this bullshit some day. so, why are any current witnesses here at all? do you want to leave the wts? if you want to, i will help you do that. that's my personal mission, you know. if you want to talk to other witnesses who won't say truths you don't want to hear, go to a homogenized jw board, or better yet, a kingdom hall. and this isn't about hate, it's about exercising for the first time in my life my right to tell the world how i feel, how jacked the witnesses are, and how they fucked up my life and the lives of many of my family members.

StinkyP, your post was so touching. it's a terrible thing that they could ignore you this way. it seems surreal. i still cannot fathom how they can be brainwashed this way. the part about your little brother really got to me. my little brother got out, thank god, and he and i have each other at least as our link to the past - our shared history. the witnsses suck with a capital 'f'. you may not believe this, but i care enormously. so does, probably, everyone else here. because we've all been victimized by these people. all have a story about fractured families, phobias, emotional disturbances, trying to make or rebuild a life for ourselves with no survival skills taught to us at all, etc. talking about it may be all we have, but it's what they hate- survivors telling the rest of the world the real truth about them. the one thing that finally made me able to recocile their shunning of me was thinking about their warped ideas about life and spirituality, and for their fellow 'worldly' human beings. when i began doing that, it sort of crystalized for me how jacked they were, and how i am better off without that tyranny in my life. your brother's love may be enough to make him see them for what they are, enabling him to get out one day.

what an awesome post. i have met some really cool people on the internet (and off) and formed beautiful friendships. the net's a good thing when you go to the right places. and this is one of the right places in cyberspace. i love reading these posts. many of them are tragic, but they also reflect my own experience, and that is comforting. i want to throw my arms around each and every one of you.

nope. my family will have nothing to do with me, now that i have left and speak out against the wts. they actually hate me now. i used to care, very deeply. now i am actually glad not to have anything to do with them. they made comments like 'good, maybe they'll all kill each other' when the wtc went down. and they make comments like this (from an actual website by a 'good' witness, my niece [my edits for the purposes of this post are in braces]:

by OUTLAW indubs are always looking for an angle to make money.their probably no worse than anybody else,but they do like to preach against materialism while chasing the illusive dollar.alot of times its some form of pyramid scheme.amway for one,or the triple charge system(owned and operated by some dubs from califonia)then theres the out and out pyramid scheme.you bring in people who give the pyramid $500.00,after bringing in so many people the guy at the top get`s a $17,000.00 payout,and is free to start again at the bottem of the pyramid.i`ve known a few dubs who have collected their 17grand.the pyramid eventually burns out,and the people at the bottem are left holding the bag(no payout).they lose the money they couldn`t afford to spend to begin with.there are some dubs though,that make a good living at this.what are some of the get rich schemes you`ve witnessed(pun intended)in dubland?...outlaw

oh brother. we got into both of those when I was a witness. I was surprised to see my witness sister selling a ton of amway at a garage sale at her house one day. personally, I prefer clinique :)
