  hi brownboy, i have some questions that never got answered so maybe you can help me. first, look at the picture of paradise please:

  After Armageddon, earth will be made into a paradise

  ok, notice all the details... fisrt the house in the background. the house is made from milled lumber, bricks, concrete, and no doubt is powered by electricity or gas. the man in the foreground is using a shovel that had to be forged from carbon steel or alloy in a factory somewhere... now notice the clothing of the survivors...machine-woven and dyed cottons and possibly polyester blends, and the girl's collar appears to have machine-stitched lace on it, and the men are wearing leather belts, which have to be taken from a slaughtered cow and then dyed and tanned, etc. with the infrastructures of this wicked system of things completely destroyed, how will all this be possible? and they will have to take from the earth to have these things, i.e. chop down trees and slaughter animals to make shoes and belts, which would pollute the environment. if death is no more, where will leather come from? please answer.. i always wondered and no one ever answered me. thank you.

  many people go through life with an increasing awareness and increasing anxiety about their eventual fate.

  i don't think about death at all. when i was five, i was almost trampled by a horse. when i was 11, i rolled down the side of a mountain, at 13 i almost drowned, at 14 i was sledding down a mountain slope and came within inches of sliding off the edge, and at 19 i found myself in a very dangerous situation with a psychotic man from work, which i was able to talk myself out of. i do fear death though... not my own, but that a loved one would be taken from me. as for myself, i just want it to be quick and painless, or maybe even spectacular like in a big ball of fire or something.

  i'm talking about the bible god jehovah need to be worshipped,,and his utter hatred towards other gods the people worshipped.

  i mean after all he has his people put to death if the worship any one else.

  he even admits he is a very jealeous god,,so what are your opinions?

  I find it amazing that anyone could think that they have a perspective from which to judge God

  he's talkin about the god of the Jehovah's Witnesses.

  and to answer the question, yes ! this god worshipped by Jehovah's Witnesses is a flawed god,---vain, jealous, temperamental and unforgiving.

  anyway, you would expect a divine being to be above such human frailties. furthermore, why should God punish us for exhibiting the same flaws he has? thank you for another interesting, thought-provoking post, frankiespeakin. you always drag my brain from its slumber...

  i can't tell you why i believe in God; i just do. i won't say it's "just a feeling", 'cause i know you don't want to hear that. there's just too much precision in the universe to be random... birds know just where to go in the winter, the Earth moves on its axis faithfully when seasons change, fragile monarch butterlies travel thousands of miles every year (acorss the great lakes, which are like oceans) to their final destination, an egg and sperm grow into a thinking, feeling human being with a soul. i also struggle with an absence of divine intervention...if i witnessed one-tenth of the things that happen in the world i couldn't turn my back and pretend nothing was happening, i would definitely intervene. so why doesn't God, who is omnipotent and omnipresent? some things are beyond our comprehension... i mean to an amoeba we are unfathomable.

  i don't believe in the christian ideal of God, or in many depicted by the world's religions. when i think about what God looks like, this is kinda what comes to mind:

  Anybody make New Year's resolutions/have cabbage, black-eyed peas, etc?

  i don't know where the tradition came from, but down here in the south, it's traditional to eat cabbage, black-eyed peas, ham....and since cornbread seems to go so well with it...heh....wonder what it means....i know the cabbage is for luck with money in the new year, but not sure about the rest.. anyone else make any new year's resolutions?.

  not really. for the most part people were ok. one time though i went house-to-house with this one obnoxious brother who had an annoying habit of cracking lame jokes non-stop, then laughing at them. anyway, we came to this one house with the window open, and we could hear this couple inside laughing and cavorting. i said maybe we shouldn't go to this house 'cause we'd be interrupting them and he said that's just SILLY of course we'll go and he knocked on the door. the householder, who looked a little toasted, answered and brother so-and-so began his spiel, and the guy ssaid "sh-----t" and slammed the door in our faces, cutting him off in mid-sentence. i felt like saying i-toldya-so, but being a good sister, i didn't. wow, this brings it all back all right. it was warm that day and i was wearing this pale green wool dress with pleats and it was very itchy and hot...and the brother had some kinda gel in his hair that smelled really bad, and he sweated a lot. yikes.

  I&P, I like blackeye-peas cooked with bacon, a little salt and pepper and when served put chopped onions on them. mmmm mmmm good.

  hmm...coincidentally, i have a little box of cornbread (Jiffy brand), a cabbage i got two days ago for some reason, and some leftover ham...but i've never had black-eyed peas before, isn't that scandalous? so i guess my resolution is to try some (i hope i don't murder them too bad...)

  got any good recipes?
