  Little things in life that make you smile/happy

  early this morning i noticed a couple of racoons in my back yard searching for food.

  there's a huge park/forest in my back yard.

  i quietly opened the door and left some treats for them.

  it truly is the simple things in life that are the most cherished. i live in the southwest desert, and it has an unbelievable beauty all its own. close to my house is a man-made wash, and you can always spot jackrabbits, little quail (it's funny to see. they really do walk in a line, and all the little ones follw the mom), and an occasional coyote. yellow daisies and vermillion & magenta verbena dot the landscape a few days after it rains. before the rain comes, there's nothing but scrub, and after, flowers everywhere. the desert doesn't demand much but it gives you a lot in return. the thing that makes me the most happy is my adorable son. when he was little, his innocence and pure joy in living was contagious. he did a million things every single day to bring a laugh or a smile. now that he is a teen-ager, he is more subdued, but still the most precious thing in my life. he has become an accomplished guitar player and when i listen to him play complex riffs along with metallica, or stevie ray vaughn, there's nothing that could top the happiness i feel at that moment.

  p.s. ok i know this sounds a tad self-indulgent, but i love to open the moon roof in my little beetle at night, crank up the system and drive along this one mountain road. it's very revitalizing! Thank you for posting this. asweome thoughts, everyone.

  then just follow the instructions. it's fast and easy and in 10 minutes you will have your pictures posted. try it!

  one benefit that jws get from being jehovah's people is the knowledge of good hygiene.

  before i came to be a witness, i did not think it was important to brush my teeth thoroughly or wash under my arms real good and use deodarant.

  i also tended to be a pack rat with a messy car.

  Can you prove the earth is round? Nope.

  talk about blind faith. if your elders told you the earth was flat, would you believe them? seriously - would you? and about this cleanliness thingy: my niece is an active publisher and let me tell you, she goes for days (DAYS) sometimes without bathing. she told me! she also wears really low-cut dresses to the kingdom halls, and so do other sisters! i have a very nice body but i don't go parading it for the whole world to see, 'cause i am not like that. and for your information, any person with half a brain bathes, brushes and flosses every singe day. my sister, a devout witness, remarked when she came to my house how clean it was. guess what? it is way cleaner than hers. and i didn't learn that by being a jw. i just like things clean and uncluttered.

  so do you think the earth is flat? my god what proof do you need that it isn't? if the wts told you the earth was flat would you accept it as truth? really?

  This one is called "No Respect" and symbolizes the society's attitude toward its victims: note the attitude of the bear as the little guy sounds off to him (tiny sketch at bottom).

  COMF: omigod. that is so cool. to see these images exploded this way... for the first time we can see them. i love that picture!! it makes you want to laugh and cry at the same time when you look at it. thank you for sharing that. i saved the picture to show my son - he'll love it.

  use the picture I do 'cause my real picture don't look so gud.

  i love alfred e. newman. that image is one permanently etched into the minds of millions of people. if it hadn't been for mad magazine, i would have gone insane when i was a kid. i love that magazine. i have boxes of them. as soon as my son was old enough to read, i turned him onto mad, and now he loves it too. you will think this is weird, but you know how people have family photos on their bookshelves? i cut out a small colored picture of alfred e. newman and put it in a frame and set it among the other pictures. every time people come over and see it they get a good chuckle. p.s. i read your glossary long ago and thought it was a work of art. i stumbled upon a thread a few nights ago and discovered it was you who wrote it. and that's all i'll say about that.

  spice: awesome! yours was the pic that inspired this post, actually. i couldn't see it too well, and wondered what it meant. it's really a stunning picture.

  this is a picture my boyfriend gave to me. the one who broke my heart. he used to call me his twilight fairie. you know, it's been a very long time, and it still hurts awfully. i don't know if i'll ever get over it.

  The YouKnow PICs were a sorta tribute to You Know. Many of us that did that were following in the footsteps of TR? if I remember right.

  i wondered about that. i see several ones like that, with the same clothes. i thought it had something to do with the secret uadna club. wow another mystery solved. thx!
