Doesn't matter where they live. When logic and reason fails, you're wasting your breath. If it was any other place, I'd just leave. But I can't leave since it would be next door to my house. Since I have to waste my time standing out front to protect my property, I might as well waste my breath as well. And ridicule is the most personally satisfying waste of breath I can think of.

I read an account from one of the neighbors that gives a little more back story. Take it with a grain of salt because it's off the internet and unverified.
This was a private community pool in an upscale neighborhood. It started out as a small party but due to social media, more and more people arrived who were not residents, not friends, and not invited. As more people arrived, they ran off the neighbors trying to use the pool. Some who couldn't get in, started jumping the fence. Some were drinking and smoking pot. At some point a rapper showed up, hooked up his loudspeakers and was blaring profane music.
The community security guards and some of the neighbors tried to put a stop to it and they were run off too. Then some of the kids started throwing bottles at passing cars and damaging property.
The cops then showed up and that's part of what is shown on the video.
I think the one cops treatment of the girl was a little excessive. Police are trained to get control of the situation first, and he looked like a guy suffering sensory overload with so many people running around..
I get that the police protect and serve all of us but that includes the neighbors too. If I had a bunch of hooligans show up next to my house blasting music and throwing bottles at cars and people, I'd yell at them to get back to their section 8 housing too. It doesn't excuse unprofessional behavior by the police, but the idiocy and lack of respect for authority that incites all of this to begin with never seems to get reported on.

Hope y'all in Texas are doing OK !
by Simon insome terrible flooding happening there.. i never realized that texas was so prone to serious floods and flash-floods because of the geography and weather.
it tops the stats nearly every year for flood fatalities.. stay safe, stay dry if you can and don't take any chances.
water is unbelievably powerful - whatever vehicle you have it can sweep it away like a twig.

I'm on the northwest side of Houston. Most of the houses in our subdivision are on gentle slopes 12-18" above street and gutter level. The water still got high enough to put a couple of inches into the garage and laundry room but thankfully just short of entering the main living areas.
I feel sorry for all the people who had to abandon their vehicles on the freeways. Night visibility in a rainstorm on Houston freeways is poor. So a lot of people pull over to the shoulder and wait for the rain to slow down. But it didn't, and most of the frontage roads and bottom stacks of the interchanges flood first, so you get trapped on the mainlanes with no way off and then those flood and you have to abandon the car if you don't want to drown.
Though certain low lying spots here flood pretty easily, the bayou system works fairly well and moves huge quantities of water. Much of the waters receded within a few hours though the damage was already done. Flood control estimated that over 162 billion gallons of water fell in the county in the span of four to five hours.

I worked for a large multinational corporation of over 150,000 employees that is headquartered in the US. I took their management training courses, which also covered diversity in the workplace, equal opportunity, affirmative action, and hiring practices.
According to them, it is not enough to have minorities and women fairly represented in the workplace according to regional demographics. They must be over-represented.
The training material went so far as to say that even if the department is well represented and diverse beyond the regional demographics, if presented with the choice of hiring a highly qualified white male candidate or hiring a minority or female candidate who only meets the minimum qualifications, the less qualified minority or female should always be hired.
There's some privilege for ya!

Officer Wilson not indicted in killing of Michael Brown
by Simon inafter a thorough investigation and weighing of the evidence the grand jury has decided not to indict the officer.. the reaction so far seems as predicted - people refuse to accept that the result represents justice despite claims that is what they wanted.. there is now violence and vandalism, including gunshots.
let's hope the police contain the troublemakers.. .

You are trying to draw parallels that don't exist. It's not the same thing, and it's not even in the same ballpark.

The only thing I see is the cops should've been mostly black instead of white. Makes no difference to the end result.

In Brown's toxicology report, he also had what is considered twice the legal DUI limit (in states like Washington where it is legal) of marijuana in his system. Pot isn't usually associated with aggressive behavior, but it does make some people very paranoid. And it probably explains why he was walking down the center of the street oblivious to traffic. Dude was high as a kite.

From his own testimony I linked earlier, Wilson is 6'4" and 210. For his height, that's a pretty ideal weight, but most people would probably say he's a little on the lanky side.

Part of gun ownership is the responsibility to have control of it at all times. I don't know about Police Officer training, but civilian training teaches you never ever brandish a firearm unless you are fully prepared to use it. Once you show it, you are now in danger of having it used against you or a bystander if the bad guy gets it away from you in a physical confrontation.
To put it another way, once a gun is drawn, you no longer have the luxury of getting into a fist fight.
