christianity began it's formation without the bible.
the bible, as we know it, is a collection of what were very old texts when they were assembled by christian leaders in the late second and third centuries because they were deemed to be inspired by god.. whether they really were inspired by god or not is now open to debate, but should they prove to not be, it should not undermine christianity as an establishment.. discuss......

Ablebodiedman - Not one single thing that Jesus said is coming true in any unique sense in this generation.
The onus is on you to supply evidence to support your extraordinary claim.
You are the very opposite of a skeptic.
Cofty,
I have already supplied plenty of evidence on this forum.
The onus is on you to ignore it.

Your perspective is tha same as the Watchtower on that topic.
Cofty
If the Watchtowers perspective was the same as mine there wouldn't be a Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.
What Jesus Christ said would happen, is really happening!
I'm a sceptic.
The overwhelming amount of evidence drives any thought of scepticism beyond reasonable limits.
A person has to either ignore or write off so many evidences with equally as many lame arguments as the one you used above, that it is entertaining for me.

Ablebodieman - you have no historical perspective.
Cofty,
I have access to all the same information that you do.
I read what the athiests, agnostics, fundamentalists, humanists, scientists, intellectuals, conspiracy theorists, new agers, Catholics, Protestants, "higher critics", historians, the people on this forum (including you), other forums and also what the Watchtower Bible and Tract society have to say.
I do read all the stuff the Watchtower doesn't want people to read!
Yet, my perspective is still completely different to yours.
What Jesus Christ said would happen, is REALLY HAPPENING!
That is a good thing, in my perspective.

when i worked for a book store i became familiar with beka text books for home school.. i spoke with the mothers who came looking for them.
i realized something didn't smell right.. then, i realized there are a couple of generations of fundamentalist kids who have had no exposure.
to the scientific method, science facts or any conversancy with physics or biology or history as a result of beka textbooks.. in a nutshell here is the situation:.
Me, in a hurry, sure she was asleep, trying to "get out of there".
Yes, that reminds me, when I said it was bedtime she would often resist.
All I had to do was say; "ok, I'm going upstairs to pick which book we are going to read tonight".
She would then beat me up the stairs because she really wanted to pick which book I was going to read.
Worked every time!

It allows access to texts that children can't read on their own. It improves vocabulary. And if you stop to say, "What do you think will happen next?" it builds comprehension strategies.
I especially remember one night when she was around three years old and I stopped in mid sentence with my finger under the next word.
She said the word and finished the sentence.
Who knows when she actually had been reading it herself?
I wasn't certain so I started reading the next sentence following along with my finger and intentionally said the wrong word.
She corrected me ... then laughed!
That was "THE MOMENT" when I realized she could read!
It just happened.

I sent my daughter to public school through french immersion.
She is now officially, (and in practice) bilingual.
I did however, spend much time in home schooling as well.
Read to her every night, starting before she could even walk, or talk.
By the time she reached kindergarten she could read.
I like to think that the time I spent reading to her made a big difference.
She graduated High School with the highest marks in her school.
It won her a Queen Elisabeth II scholarship.
In two weeks time she finishes her 4th year of University.

Trigonometry is actually kind of fun!
That is not what I thought about trigonometry while I was in school!
Oh yes, and Calculus is really, really, really amazing!

all through my years as a jws and after i have always wondered about john 20:28 where thomas says "my lord and my god" to jesus.
i just could not find a suitable answer for this text to disprove the trinity doctrine.
i really never swallowed the jws intrepretation of "shock" by thomas something like "oh my god" but at the same time i had a gut feeling trinitarians were hiding something about this verse.
Trinitarians love using this scripture to prove that Jesus Christ must be the Almighty God because all things were created by Jesus Christ ............ right?:
Isaiah 44:24
This is what Jehovah has said, your Repurchaser and the Former of you from the belly: "I, Jehovah, am doing everything, stretching out the heavens by myself, laying out the earth. Who was with me?
Notice that this scripture is asked as a question.
So what is the answer?
Genesis 1:26
And God went on to say: "Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness, and let them have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and the domestic animals and all the earth and every moving animal that is moving upon the earth."
That is kind of frustrating for Trinitarians who use this scripture to prove the Trinity isn't it?
So why would Isaiah write such a thing?
Just keep reading for the answer:
Isaiah 44:25
[I am] frustrating the signs of the empty talkers, and [I am] the One that makes diviners themselves act crazily; the One turning wise men backwards, and the One that turns even their knowledge into foolishness;
The bible is amazing!

i was thinking today about how i no longer have to fear the attack of satan against the jws.
i used to fear being rounded up and beaten by mobs.
seeing my family tortured.
So sad that the very ones who were supposed to shepherd us were torturing us day by day...
Consider how Micah describes events (in zion) at the final part of the days.
What you described above fits perfectly.
Micah 3:1-4:2
And I proceeded to say: "Hear, please, YOU heads of Jacob and YOU commanders of the house of Israel. Is it not YOUR business to know justice? 2 YOU haters of what is good and lovers of badness, tearing off their skin from people and their organism from off their bones; 3 YOU the ones who have also eaten the organism of my people, and have stripped their very skin from off them, and smashed to pieces their very bones, and crushed [them] to pieces like what is in a widemouthed pot and like flesh in the midst of a cooking pot. 4 At that time they will call to Jehovah for aid, but he will not answer them. And he will conceal his face from them in that time, according as they committed badness in their dealings. "This is what Jehovah has said against the prophets that are causing my people to wander, that are biting with their teeth and that actually call out, ‘Peace!’ that, when anyone does not put [something] into their mouths, also actually sanctify war against him, 6 ‘Therefore YOU men will have night, so that there will be no vision; and darkness YOU will have, so as not to practice divination. And the sun will certainly set upon the prophets, and the day must get dark upon them. 7 And the visionaries will have to be ashamed, and the diviners will certainly be disappointed. And they will have to cover over the mustache, all of them, for there is no answer from God.’" And, on the other hand, I myself have become full of power, with the spirit of Jehovah, and of justice and mightiness, in order to tell to Jacob his revolt and to Israel his sin.Hear, please, this, YOU head ones of the house of Jacob and YOU commanders of the house of Israel, the ones detesting justice and the ones who make even everything that is straight crooked; 10 building Zion with acts of bloodshed and Jerusalem with unrighteousness. 11 Her own head ones judge merely for a bribe, and her own priests instruct just for a price, and her own prophets practice divination simply for money; yet upon Jehovah they keep supporting themselves, saying: "Is not Jehovah in the midst of us? There will come upon us no calamity." 12 Therefore on account of YOU men Zion will be plowed up as a mere field, and Jerusalem herself will become mere heaps of ruins, and the mountain of the house will be as the high places of a forest. 4 And it must occur in the final part of the days [that] the mountain of the house of Jehovah will become firmly established above the top of the mountains, and it will certainly be lifted up above the hills; and to it peoples must stream. 2 And many nations will certainly go and say: "Come, YOU people, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will instruct us about his ways, and we will walk in his paths."
Can you think of any worldwide religion who say this, using God's actual name?
"Is not Jehovah in the midst of us? There will come upon us no calamity."
