i am looking for the october 18th, 1968 awake magazine scanned and downloadable.

does anyone know where i could find something like this?.

somehow, they seem to have left it off their cd.

Basically, the article is an attack on 'false prophets'. See below:

"True, there have been those in times past who predicted an “end of the world”, even announcing a specific date. Some have gathered groups of people with them and fled to the hills or withdrawn into their houses waiting for the end. Yet, nothing happened. The "end" did not come. another question.. does anyone know of a group that might be interested in stopping by my wife and jw parent's house on a casual 'preaching mission'?

it is essential that they be prepared to argue their biblical faith and have some idea of how to get past her conception.. the biggest problem is that she thinks that all other religions don't read the bible, don't believe the bible and don't preach the bible.

i would love to have someone at least show her that that is not true.

The biggest problem is that she thinks that all other religions don't read the Bible, don't believe the Bible and don't preach the Bible. I would love to have someone at least show her that that is not true. She doesn't have to be convinced, just shown that other religions do preach the Bible and that their passion is directed to a different reading of the Bible and well-founded.

i am writing to gather consensus on what are the most incontrovertible evidences against jws.

i am working to 'deprogram' my wife and am trying to compile a list of those things that are the most difficult to stand against.. for example, i believe that the jw treatment of 'false prophets' and their distinction between those who are simply overzealous and those who are just plain wrong looks silly in the face of their historical blunders.. any opinions would be very helpful, especially with web-site references for good sources of information.. thank, y'all are super helpful.

my wife is becoming a witness and i've found very little that i can do to stop her!

i've tried to show her that the wt does not quote correctly, i've talked to her about past beliefs and i've tried to reason with her about the bible.

but she won't listen!.

She can't go on vacation because her weekends are all taken . . . I'm a student at business school and I have weekends off but no weekdays.

So, we don't take vacations. Rather, we spend our weekends learning about an angry and vengeful god. If I don't go with her, then we'll have little time together.

Sometimes, just sometimes, we can get away for a weekend if we find another hall. But, and I mean but, this cannot be done often. Our congregation needs us . . .

Do you feel that direct confrontation is the wisest choice? I can print out resources and I can put doubts in her mind. I know a million now!
My only question is whether it is best to do a full frontal attack or only try to sway her. Well, I've tried to sway her for months, so I'm working on a full frontal attack.
I'm afraid this will be a turning point of our one year old marriage. I guess if I'm going to be destroyed in a few short months anyway, it won't matter.

If I had known then what I know now . . . unfortunately, our married life has already changed immensely. We cannot take vacations, she won't enter churches, she has never spent Christmas or a birthday with me . . . We constantly talk about how terrible the world is and she rants about how she hates people who do the things she did nine months ago.

I should have taken action before, but I didn't understand the complete problem. Now that I understand things better, I need to break into her thoughts. I need to spread doubt. What were the turning points for you? What is indisputable?

I need help! My wife is becoming a Witness and I've found very little that I can do to stop her! I've tried to show her that the WT does not quote correctly, I've talked to her about past beliefs and I've tried to reason with her about the Bible. But she won't listen!

She's gone for a week and I'm writing up a 'thesis' on what a false prophet is. I am hoping she will listen for a change. I am definitely planning on making a stand, though.

Do y'all have any advice? I could really use it! I don't want to lose my wife!
