Only reason I don't write a letter at this point is losing what's left of my relationships with my loved ones. It may not be much, but it's better then nothing.

A rough estimate of how many are still in for family or loved ones?
by dgp ini'm sure it's impossible to know for sure but, in people's opinions, what would be a rough estimate of how many people are still in because of fear of losing loved ones?.

A Jehovah's Witness has admitted sexually abusing a young boy from the age of seven.
Thomas Gold, 45, abused the child over a period of seven years at an address in Clackmannanshire. The abuse began with a kiss on the boy's mouth, and became more sexual as the youngster got older.
On one occasion there was "unnatural carnal connection" between them. The High Court in Glasgow heard that the boy trusted the accused and thought the relationship was normal when he was a child, but questioned it when he reached his late teens.
It came to light after the boy, also a Jehovah's witness, spoke to church elders about it. Advocate depute Alison Di Rollo said: "By the time he was 19 he had started to realise that his feeling for the accused was wrong.
"He approached elders at his church and told them and they said it was wrong and that if it continued he would have to be disfellowshipped by the church.
"He has been seeing a psychiatrist in relation to suicidal thoughts and depression."
The court heard that the complainer continued to visit Gold and had sex with him until last September. On Tuesday, Gold admitted using lewd, libidinous and indecent practices towards the boy on various occasions between November 14 1996 and November 13 2003.
Lord Bannatyne deferred sentence until September 7 and ordered him to be placed on the sex offenders register.

Life is Too short,
Thank you, thank you and thank you!!
From someone who has had to deal with the pain and heartbeak of my child being molested by a fellow JW, I really appreciate what you are trying to do.
I have the painful memories of knowing her molester was out on bail attending every meeting and going out on sevice as I couldn't even go out of the house becuause I was so depressed.
It just isn't right!!

What a pig!!
The alleged incident occurred on Jan. 10 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 319 Price Ave., which both individuals attend. Sanchez offered the girl money and told her to meet him near the bathrooms, an arrest affidavit states. The unidentified girl then met him outside the restroom area, where Sanchez kissed her on the head, fondled her, gave her $20 and returned to the church, according to the affidavit.
When police interviewed Sanchez about the incident, he admitted to the acts, telling them it was a moment of weakness and that he didn't have time to pray before the incident but prayed for forgiveness afterward, the affidavit states.

Responding to personal questions
by Lady Lee init has come to my attention that there have been numerous posts on the board asking posters personal questions like:.
where do you live?are you male or female?do you know people from a certain congregation?do you know a certain district overseer or circuit overseer?do you know of certain conflicts in your congregation?post some pictures of where you liveif you are an active or fading jw ...?if you are an active elder ...?there are plenty of other personal type questions that can be used to narrow down who you are.
some may seem quite innocent like the post pictures of where you live but if i post a picture of ottawa but don't want anyone to know i live in ottawa i have just told the internet world where i live.

Loving your beutiful children
by jambon1 ini had little or no problems with my beliefs as an 18 year old convert to the jehovah's witness religion.
fair enough, there were a few things that i found a bit wacky & odd, but i was on the road to life.
i couldn't give a rats arse about many things.

Jambon,
So beautifully put.
I so agree, I could never ever not be there 100% for my children and I can't be part of an Org that make you choose between them and the people you love. The Org would always lose, as they did in my family.

Had an interesting conversation with mom about shunning...
by confliction inso i was speaking about some "problems" and "confusion" i had about the wtbs, and while speaking the subject of shunning came up.. .
long story short, my mom said that if i were (theoretically) ever to leave,.
she would still speak to me and have me over and do all the normal things .

Based on my experience she is and isn't.
See, my mom has said the same thing to me over the years especially because at one time she was disfellowshipped and we never shunned her..the only one that did was my older sister who was newly baptized and oh so righteous in them days. It's something my mother never completely forgave nor did my sister ever get over the guilt of doing it.
Fast forward...My family is now inactive and our relationship has completely changed..we went from talking everyday on the phone to maybe a call a week and a text message here and there. What changed? We don't have that main thing in common anymore. I don't want to hear about her meetings and studies and what brother so and so is doing and she really doesn't want to hear about what fun we are having outside the KH. It's sad but it's reality...we change and move apart.
