Please, share your abuse story.

greetings to all, i am new to this site and am enjoying the topics.

briefly, my family suffered my older/deceased brother's molestation when he was 13, in the congregation.

to this day, my mother still defends the elders that dealt with this situation.

It's utterly disgusting to me when mothers choose their religion over their abused children!

I did the opposite, completely supported our daughter even if that meant looking bad to the elders and congregation. Of course it lead to us leaving the religion and therefore loosing everybody we knew including close relationships we once had with family.

While it's been an up hill battle I don't regret it for a second.

Well she struggles with trust issues and effects from the abuse she also knows we have her back and will help her anyway we can to get her what she needs to move forward.

What woke you up?

in march of 2014, i was a very active jw, a ministerial servant, gave a public talk, was an attendant for the memorial, and one of 4 cleaning captains for an international convention of 40,000+ attendees.

so what woke me up?

an innocent comment from a co-worker about the candice conti court case rang a bell that could not be unrung.

Child abuse issue. My daughter was molested by a trusted JW.

You can probably guess how well that was handled!! You can't look back after going through all that.

Another annointed disfelowshipped for showing love

ok this is story1.annointed bro moves into a house and rents room from a lady.

2.he is currently serving as elder.3.there happens to be a disfellowsipped brother also living in house.4.

the annointed elder decides to help him to return to jehovah.5 the other elders find out and decide to remove him as elder because he is living and helping a df person and the annointed bro cannot move out because he does not have enough money.

i've finally got round to joining the site (after over 2 years lurking!

i was born into jws, pioneered for 10 years (met my husband at pioneer school).

had health issues that saw me catapulted away from 'the centre of the cong' and wow what a different place that was!

i feel more confused than ever

well i know i've been posting a lot of topics like this lately and i'm sorry if i sound whiny or annoying.

my parents were asking me why i was so upset lately and i ended up just telling them the whole truth.

i told them i don't believe in god or the bible because i don't have any evidence of anything.

Just come here for support. Your parents will not understand nor do they want to understand, they are happy living in the JW world. This doesn't mean you have to be. Just remain peaceful at home, follow the rules but stand firm on your need for education. Study hard, get yourself in college and then live your life :)

JWs nearly killed my mother

the past week has been hell for me.

my mother started feeling ill and we went to seek medical assistance.

we live in the mountains and the nearest large hospital is about 150 kms away.

Okay, I admit I kinda held my breath when he asked if they will apologize to victims of abuse. Why do I ever think they may do the right thing?? Then to hear one of the victims/ survivors lawyer go over the less then heartfelt response to her 5 page passionate letter to society only sealed the deal! These creeps are completely morally corrupt!!

My husband also sent a long passionate letter to society while we were struggling with understanding why our child's molester wasn't disfellowshipped after being convicted. Yup, we received what looks to be the same form letter...tears in a skin bottle?? Makes my skin crawl!

Do video games cause bad behaviour in children?

my boy is 10 and has got very interested in pocamon cards.

( a game way to complicated for me to understand) but i've also noticed it's linked to a computer game, which seems harmless enough but i also noticed advertisements for more violent games appear.. i would value people's opinion on whether, you think video games cause bad behaviour in kids.

i should mention my kid says i limit his time on these games, much more than other children's parents, and i was thinking of reevaluating that rule.. thanks.. the rebel..

I feel so guilty now but I remember having my son throw out all if his Pokeman card( some worth good money) when the talks were coming in about them. He was so upset with me! Can't blame him.

He is now 20 and in my opinion spends way to much time on computer games. While he's not violent he can be quite annoying when you make him leave his game in the middle to throw out the trash:)

I truly don't understand the appeal of video games, but then again I get annoyed when people interrupt me while I'm reading the latest here.
