Take his money to the Kingdom Hall on meeting night go up to him, smile, loudly call him by name and ask him how he is and say "Here's your window cleaning money! By the way I won't be needing you to clean my windows anymore. Have a nice meeting! Byeee!"

Do you think not having the book study in private homes has had much effect?
by truthseeker init's been a few years since the organization ended the book study arrangement in private homes.. gone was the last opportunity to have tea and biscuits and a natter with the friends afterwards.. do you think people regret losing the book study?
for some, it may have been the only time they were able to get some "associaton".

"Greatest Man" book study was the best. "Revelation" was awful first time, worse second time and boring/cringing when we had to paste in "new light" - what a crock. Cedar Point Ohio = the seven bowls or some nonsense - helped me wake up.
The new 3 in 1 mid-week meeting is just a rush of garbage. And now the bethel sends its announcements by jw.orgmail to the elders we get more than ever - here in UK instead of costing them 1500 letters at a £1 each (post and paper and ink) it's given free!
We get crappy announcement/letter after crappy announcement/letter, all the auxiliary "pioneers" doing 30 hrs get announced, the accounts report gets announced and yet they did away with the announcements!
And the boys on the sound desk tell me they have to shave a minute or two off of every service meeting item to accommodate it all.
Still it's an evening off like you say.

Suicide - How many do you know within the JWs
by Lady Lee inthw wts likes to play games with their statistics.
one interesting but truly tragic is the number of jwhovah's witnesses who commit suicie.. now i suspect that if a person commits suicide shortly before or after they are disfellowshipped then the elders would say that person wasn't a witness or that they had done something so terrible that they were too guilty to admit it and by their action of committing suicide they pretty much declared they were no longer a jw.. yup fancy talk to make sure any crap didn't fall on them.. so my question.. do you know of cases like this?
if so then can you answer a few more questions.. had this person been dfed or in real danger of being dfed or whatever the equivalent is if they were never baptized?.

2 spring to mind; plus an attempted one which I count as a serious attempt - it was a survived - a jump from a 3rd floor car park.
A couple of overdoses too. But they survived.
Oh, a family in the 70's; wife tried gassing herself but survived, her UBM stuck his head in a gas oven and died. Their daughter jumped a high bridge.
What a happyfying experience their contact with jw's was ...

What fastJehu said is spot on. But with a bit of individual CO leeway.
Granddad kindly CO who has seen real life, had kids, been in the armed forces or had a real job before being a jw.
"8 hours is ok minimum for last six months with a toddler or new baby on board any less than that and they obviously won't cope with all the estra responsibility."
Modern CO who hasn't got a clue, pioneered from school, never had a full time job and follows every word the DO and Branch tell him.
"10 hours minimum with several RV's for last 12 months; wife must be doing well (even with a newborn, depression and CFS!) too. Gotta preside over houshold an 'all."

How many ex elders attend your meetings still.
by freddo inwhen i resigned from a body of about ten elders (jumped before pushed.
.
if you still go, how many ex elders in your congregation?.

When I resigned from a body of about ten elders (jumped before pushed) in 2004 I was the only ex-elder in the hall. Now there are four of us! Not bad considering there are only six elders "serving". They look tired too.
If you still go, how many ex elders in your congregation?

Elder and i discussed beards, and got into rules and regulations
by Jon Preston induring a study the elder brought out that eating blood and omens are from the devil, and brought me to leviticus 19:26 (i think).. in verse 27 i says this:.
you must not shave the hair on the side of your head or disfigure the edges of your beard.. i said: "so why are we not allowed to have beards?".
elder: "thats a good question, cleric.

A "Co-ordinator" in a nearby circuit has a beard and several elders in our circuit do too. (UK) Not many mind but at least a handful. Mind you we don't see them on the assembly programs. My theory is that a lot of the ones who want to be seen on the platform at assemblies won't grow a beard because they love the platform too much so usually it is only the background elders that will grow a beard.
