Mays JW TV Broadcast/Your feedback is appreciated
by ToesUp ini have a pretty good intuition but i have to admit i am going back and forth on the jw tv may broadcast.
i keep asking myself are they really in financial trouble (wishful thinking) or are they just grabbing for more money?.
i always appreciate reading everyone's thoughts and ideas on here.. let me know what you think.

What happened to Ananias and Sapphira when they went'a telling half-truths about their finances? And they were giving money not taking it! -

Me again ...
Something is urgent and ongoing too. Losing D.O.'s; kicking bethelites out. Closing branches. Normally if they want to raise the bank balance they get the CO's to lean on the cong. elders or to mention it in their circuit talks. This time they've cut out the middle men. Maybe too many cong. elders are wary - especially if they've just sent a six figure sum off to the branch or HQ.
The fact these well-fed men aren't wearing their rings shows they've at least received some negative feedback from these forums.
I hope it's fear of pedo lawsuits but surely that can't be all of it? Perhaps Babylon's waters really are drying up!

Someone on another thread said why not rent out regional translation offices at say $3K a month rather than spend a million bucks on one. It's a good point.
Jesus (who had nowhere to lay his head of course) didn't tell his disciples to buy an upper room for the last supper did he?

GB’s spring cleaning helps faders
by wheelwithinwheel inthe gbs 2015 doctrinal spring cleaning is a gift to all faders.
when we were fading they were grappling with the dying generation.
their ensuing explanations made our diminishing meeting attendance and service easily explainable.

WWW makes a very good point. If you are an elder or MS though you need to resign first and then after about six months from the dust settling on your resignation you can start a fade. Any quicker than that and even the most laid back elders will be on your case.
The higher profile you are then the longer you need to take. And DON'T VOICE YOUR CONCERNS TO OTHERS OR THEY WILL GET YOU ON THE CAUSING DIVISIONS CARD.
But you can use what WWW says to your advantage.

Just watched the money part of the broadcast. Unbelievable.
What does the broadcast tell me?
They need money. But why?
They've closed dozens of branches and presumably are selling them. The Anglo-American HQ's can be financed by selling the old HQ's. They are streamlining halls in the UK, not needing extras.((eg sell three, make them meet in one and build that one with the lolly (and free labour) from the previous three and send the loot back to HQ.))
With the rise of the net they need less literature and less meeting places.
So why do they need the dough? Is it an anticipated onslaught in the wake of Candace Conti? Oh I do hope so.
Ananias and Sapphire got struck down over "false accounting" - Judas topped himself due to guilt over the desire for money. It's a shame I don't believe in an active God anymore or I would have had a glimmer of hope he was putting hooks in their jaws.
Trouble is enough folk will be hedging their bets by backing a possible eternal future with their dosh. Sad.
Silver lining? The GB broadcasting will do better at making JW's wake up than any apostates. Bit like plots by the Allies to kill Hitler - by 1943 they realised he was making a better job of losing the war than any replacement regime would and so they let him alone.

Today's text--Jehovah, the 'Impartial' God
by sd-7 in"jehovah your god...treats none with partiality."--deut.
10:17.. "impartiality is one of jehovah's endearing qualities.
" <--yes, between that and his tendency towards genocidal warfare, i don't know what makes me love him more.
-
freddo
God is not partial.
He doesn't mind if a Tsunami he chooses to let happen kills Japanese, Indonesians or Thais. Same with Earthquakes - Haitians, Italians, Nepalese - he's not fussed which nation or race they come from.
He doesn't lift a fat finger for any of them.

Having a hard time holding my tongue...
by problemaddict 2 in...recently.. i'm normally pretty calculated.
my fade is done, my wife is out, my family and friends know, i maintain quite abit of the friendships of those closest to me jw or not, my family isn't shunning, and the few people we have kept it from for other reasons we are calculating how to break it.
(elderly matriarch that we are simply not going to tell so she doesn't die).. but.....all these facebook meme's and stupid feeds about reliance on jehovah, distraction, staying close to his organization, persevering against satan.....its driving me nuts.

How hard is it to attend a congregation outside of the territory where you live? Consequences for doing so.
by hoser ini need to change congregation but stay living in the same place.
any experience with this.

freddo
In the UK if you're in a city or big town with more than a couple of congregations in a small area there is often cross-pollenation and no-one worries. When our old congregation split in 1998 I was asked to be an elder in a "the other half" to the one I lived in just to balance up the numbers of elders a bit.
