  worst day in the last ten years, was the day i hit 0.00 with one and a half years of university to go.

  nobody to turn to, nobody to ask for help.

  i was 32 and as an ex jw had two family members in contact with me.

  Nice one Snare ...

  Now a word from an old man who has on and off had bikes. I didn't sell mine for such a good cause but did sell one "to get married" and then again "to put money down on a house" and again "to pay for my wife to have a small car to take our first child about". I now have one again - non-descript Universal Japanese Motorcycle but at least I have one.

  Perhaps if I had got better educated and had a career path instead of dead end jobs to put Jehovah first I might have a brand new Ducati!

  But as they used to say on Hill Street Blues "Hey! Hey! Be careful out there ... "

  Don't want to hear that Snare has wrapped himself round a tree.

  2015 Regional Conventions Baptisms

  since this is the first weekend of rcs, anyone going that can give estimates of how many are getting baptized, how many appeared about that were jw youth, and what attendance figure is at these rcs?.

  i know u.s. baptisms are declining.

  can any keep a running report?

  NOT REGIONAL ... but in March at the circuit special day thingamy a UK circuit where a cousin attends which divides into two half circuits to fit in the assembly hall so about 2200 but 1100 on each day - had for the half she attended zero baptisms!

  Unheard of apparently. Normally it's about 5 or 6 in each half.

  The circuit I attended had 12 last October (probably spurred on by just having had the tie in to Twickenham London in August) and only 4 this Spring. So down a bit.

  No. The GB are pretty much insulated. This is so they can apply it as they wish elsewhere down the foodchain.

  At the moment it's CoBE's at 80 and TO's at 70. Tho' interestingly it seems a stand in CO can still be over 70.

  Also they can use "the guideline" to "kindly" kick Assembly Hall Overseers and RBC/LDC big wigs out when they feel like it.

  how about the heavies in the organization, like the writers, lawyers, and other who work at headquarters?.

  I think they have assigned "heavies" to monitor. To stay one step ahead. The ones that do it are more interested in keeping their board and lodging and benefits package than any real belief in serving the creator of the universe. "Career Christians" keeping the outside of the cup clean while the inside is full of rotten things.

  How do I do that? (contact newspapers, getting to the right person) Explain in words of one syllable because I genuinely don't know. What would I refer them to so they can see it with a few computer clicks.

  Why did the org "forgive" KH mortgages?

  i know this has been discussed, but i think it's good that topics like this get brought back up from time to time for the sake of newbies and lurkers, plus, i have a question (related at end of post).. the org brags about "forgiving" kh mortgages as if it's so loving and giving.

  i put the word in quotation marks because most of us realize it wasn't forgiving anything.

  the new arrangement should actually bring it far more money.. for example, suppose there are twenty congregations total.

  Don't forget - if a pair of congs sharing a hall had saved up say 100K towards a build but that build was some way off they were "encouraged" to hand over the loot, keep just enough to tick over and make a monthly payment as well!

  No guarantee their hall is gonna get a refurb/replace now as it is totally in the society's hands not the local elders.

  A hall two miles down the road from me is old - like 100 years old, non purpose built - and the cong has been saving for years and got over 100K. (£) They have sent the loot to the branch and I bet their hall will disappear and they will be forced to share with the next hall and drive ten miles to it.

  Imagine that in a circuit you have 20 congs sharing 12 halls. So the society sell four halls and now you have 20 congs sharing 8 halls. Let's say the society replace one hall with a new one and refurb another per circuit.

  4 halls sold - so a million bucks comes in. 1 gets replaced at 250K - 1 gets a refurb at 100K. Society get 650K in cold blood. Sorted. Oh plus a monthly donation.
  

  Do that all over the western world - Candace Conti gets her lolly and so do all the others and the GB keep their rolexes and pinky rings and 1st class flights to their holiday (errrr... I mean translation office) in Florida.

  One month researching my doubts: my crucial issues with WTBTS - what are yours?

  so after 20 years a convert, about a month ago i decided to start listening to my doubts and to do independent research about the wtbts teachings (naughty me).

  as a result i have consolidated my position on various points and these are my major issues with the wtbts teachings, i am posting these to help myself figure things out (with your assistance) and hopefully to hear from others at their stage of drawing away from the gb - newbies' especially.

  in the form of notes so hope you dont mind...child abuse.

  I pretty much agree with that list.

  What to do? Ahhh ... What. To. Do?

  Take your time and think. Just being mentally free is liberating. Make your plans by reading on here and being careful. Do not D/A in a the heat of the moment. Do not talk to any other witnesses just yet.
  

  Any reason why you can't take a few weeks to think it through, go through the motions and decide then?

  I haven't always seen eye to eye with you but I must say how grateful I am to you and Angharad in having kept this forum going. And your attentiveness to "mouthy" who saw through 1914 years ago is touching.

  Hello jdub1991. You will find that many on this site "say it how it is" - they have been personally hurt by "our" policies, "our" circuit overseers and "our" elders.

  We are all disturbed by the way "our" religion's (or ex-religion's) human leaders seem to care only about their preservation of image and their being in control above all else.

  If you stay and are not frightened away by sharp retorts and angry hurt people you will find many gems here to help you gain clarity of thought.

  It's a tough time for genuine people who are trapped in a mindset.

  To the rest of us: Please be mindful of the trepidation in which some venture onto this site. We want them to stay and be enlightened, not sent further down the rabbit hole.
