Can JWs be police in Australia?

hi everyone, i'm new here, i've been following the rc reports, and i was hoping you could help, my question is are jw allowed to be police, i heard the jws saying in one report with enthusiasm that they had jw in the policeforce.

and would there be any conflict from the force with any of their teaching, that would be contrary to duties..

Absolutely, definitely allowed in the UK if (as most do not) not carrying a gun. Certainly not encouraged. I have definite knowledge of an elder serving as a copper.

i always sit in the same spot, just outside starbucks in a vestibule area with a table in the air-conditioned space.

i say "always," but not today.. somebody with two laptops and a table filled with business ledgers was in "my" favorite spot!.

so, i took a tiny wooden table inside the coffee shop on a long padded bench next to 3 other identical tables.. as the clickbait banner ads like to say: "and what happened next was simply unbelievable!".

while i'm glad that the practices of the wts are under review and the australian commission is taking them to task, i'm not really expecting huge changes in the long run.

oh, they may have to agree to some changes in how they report crimes brought to elders' attention, but this excitement over the supposed expose of wt practices shall pass, and jws will soon be canvassing neighborhoods and rolling their carts, looking for converts.

conventions will go on.

It is nice to have the moral high ground. God's one and true religion is being held to account, shown to the world and found wanting IN HOW IT CARES FOR CHILDREN. Look at that slimebag Bowditch on the RC who says he would warn his worldly friend but goes silent when asked about warning worldly children?

Instead of people leaving in shame because they've shagged each other or had a cigarette or wanked to porn they can take the moral high ground and go up to the trolley dollies and their minders and embarrass them and say "How can you profess to be a representative of the creator when your leaders are defending child abusers? You white washed grave!"

Leaving the org and marriage possibly ending

i was raised a witness, baptized at 16, vacation pioneered, got married, etc.

i was very much your typical witness and believed it was the truth until last summer.

a very close relative of mine left the witnesses.

Okay. You have far more self control than I do but you have not communicated with your husband for fear of being DF'd for apostacy. Understandable but maybe counterproductive now.

1. Using ONLY the society publications show him the generation that will not pass away WT (May 1984?) stick to that as one reason. Do NOT show him anything on the net from sites such as this one. Show him the 1969 Awake about not having a career in this world because in a a few years it will be gone. Show him Luke 21 v 8 and stress "anyone saying the end is near is not to be followed". If you can get a scanned copy of the original Jan 1st 1989 Watchtower page 12 paragraph 8 then do so. Show the difference between the preaching work ending "in our 20th century" and "in our time" (on the website and in the bound volume).

2. Handling of child abuse. Get the Royal Australian commission Website up - research the documents and the testimony and tell him this has made you want to wait on Jehovah. Tell him a governing body member has been called to testify.

3. Tell him you love him and want to be with him and be the best wife ever. (not a doormat though)

4. Prove by your lifestyle that you haven't gone crazy apostate. Don't go celebrating Xmas etc. (yet) Win him over quietly.

Play the long game and good luck.

I think the UK will be 2 AM Friday when the RC starts at 11 AM Friday.

I might be too tired for field service on Saturday if I watch it through! LOL!

I wonder if GJ's dad will take a turn for the worse? I mean if he (GJ) has been in Oz since "before July 14th" as Angus Stewart put it then his gravely ill father seems to be taking his time about either passing away or making a miraculous recovery.

Other musings ...

I also wonder if GJ was actually in Oz to show up at one of the conventions. Confident his back was covered by his yes men whose only thoughts are "how do I keep my board and lodging and my (relatively) powerful position?"

O'Brien "didn't know" how long GJ had been in Oz - unbelievable - he was just trying to stop him appearing on the stand. And he offered an affidavit or a Doctor's report so he must be in constant contact with GJ.

Tokley (WT brief) "he (GJ) can't your honour" as in show up. Well it appears he can you toady slimebag!

I still wonder if he'll appear but it looks far more likely now.

I Made the Literature Trolley Run Away Today - Twice

i popped into town this morning to buy an anniversary card for mrs cofty.

it is market day on a saturday and it's tourist season so the town was very busy.

here is a picture of the scene from a year ago... two cult carts were in their favourite place being guarded by none other than one of the elders who was on my judicial committee, his wife and another jw woman in her electric disability buggy.
