Is zeal beginning to vanish?
by Caupon init has to be starting to fade somehow.
the very last time i went out in field service, hardly any were out.
maybe just about nine people were out and man if you could just see their faces.

Also those with any zeal - the piousneers and the like - have all sodded off to the cart bystanding work where their hours rack up for little effort. Not for them plodding from door to door with the weirdos and old-fashioned. -

Bethel reassignments. A question.
by freddo in1. in january the first uk bethelites will be hitting the streets.
are any coming to a circuit near you and what effect do you think they will have on the local congregation they are sent to?.
2. if you know of bethel closures/reductions already - such as spain, italy, nz etc.

WTS Throws Hail Mary Pass with Major Paradigm Shift
by Socrateswannabe inlet me begin by stating that i have no insider information, this is merely my observation.
i believe that some time ago in watchtower land, somebody at hq posed these questions (probably an outside consultant because i don't think the gb is this hip): .
what would happen if we cut in half the average age of the responsible brothers in the organization?

In the UK and other "western" countries I believe that kicking the "middle aged, less useful" bethelites out will give some struggling congs a little boost in numbers of elders/pioneers this year; but as reality sets in and they realise they have been sent out to "kept warm and well fed" many of them will be ticking time bombs in their halls.
They will either dig in deeper and show the younger ones what fruitcakes they are or they will be bitter and twisted as they try to get menial jobs in the local economy. Either way they will not truly serve the brothers and sisters in their new halls but either - quite understandably - look after themselves or become even bigger robots for the borg.
It will be interesting and to those with loved ones still in, not a little frightening.
But it gives us another opportunity to break through to the "real" person behind the cult facade.

Tanzania News Update
by mana11 ini wanted to share with you some feed back from this region.
since you could say tanzania and other regions within africa are the last hard to reach places on the earth.
it is where the www preaching work funds are directed, as being justified to get your donations.there are now no longer any foreigners at the branch within tanzania, they all were told to go.

Now that the org is much more heavily dependent on jaydubyadotorg would it be relatively inexpensive for a group of branch heavies and wealthy locals to go independent if their branch got closed?
When Ray Franz was ousted the only knock on effect whisper I heard in the UK at the time was that "there was trouble in Ireland" and that branch committee members were removed.
Back then in the early 1980's it would have been cost prohibitive to independently print and reach all the congregations in the territory but now an alternative focal group could be set up and run through a website from a small set of offices. All the contact KH addresses could be got from the branch's own files or just jwdotorg and in some countries charity commissions would show elders contacts.
Ah ... a chap can dream.

Can't Understand Why This Is Allowed
by mariet ini moved to roseburg, oregon.
the jehovah's witnesses are allowed to set up a display and man it right outside of the local library, and they are there every day and hour the library is open.
i am [redacted], the director of the douglas county library system and wanted to respond to your website email of december 11, 2015. i have consulted with the county attorneys office about your concern about jehovahs witnesses use of the front porch of the library building in roseburg, and my understanding of the law is as follows.. .

If you want rid and want to put in the effort then work out when they put up their display.
Make a placard. "Google Jehovah Witnesses Child Abuse" or "Google Jehovah Witnesses shun ex-members". (Spell it as shown here to really irritate them.)
Stand close to their cart a few times. Smile wide and say "Good morning cult members."
Stand silently with your placard.
They will run away.

What was your ''the last straw that broke the camels back'' moment
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthere is a limit to how much straw (long yellow grass) a camel can carry on its back.
if you keep putting more straw on top, it will finally break the camel's back.
when you are at the last straw you are finally angry and will not take any more.. my moment (to stop attending all watchtower meetings) was after the harsh treatment from the elders and fellow congregation members of my second cousin who was disfellowhipped as a teenager.

@Love Uni
Understandable but I need to correct you on a point which certainly won't help your return to the borg!
Michael Porter was never disfellowshipped. At the first trial he indeed got a non-custodial sentence at Bristol Crown Court and then the Attorney General Baroness Scotland referred the case on appeal to be reviewed in London due to the leniency of the sentence. He then got 18 months sentence.
He was publicly reproved and that was as far as it went.
His paedo crimes were committed largely in the South-West of England when he was a pioneer and a MS. The holy spirit obviously accepted his application to Bethel where he became an elder - field service overseer - in his London congregation.
One of his victims came forward and "forced" his confession to the elders and to the police. His old congregation elders were so incensed at his not being disfellowshipped that the WT heavies sent the D.O. to calm them down at a special meeting.
Ill feeling still remains and some of the 14 or so victims (24 counts in total) are out of the borg though many still remain in.

She sent me 'Return to Jehovah' I sent her a Christmas card
by Xanthippe init just felt so good to say to a jw i don't feel the guilt this booklet says i must be feeling.
i don't feel guilty for having a great big christmas tree or letting my daughter have birthdays, easter eggs, dress up at halloween, have sleepovers and friends, i told her.
i only feel guilty about not contributing to live aid and bandaid and giving the money to a cult instead.
