just got my annual advertisement from illinois international travel (apparently run by jws).

for $1,199 i can take a tour from september 17-25. why are they printing so much bible literature if the witnesses are supposed to be using tablets?.

saturday: first stop at new yorks newark airport, then transferred to a marriott hotel.

Charabang/Charabanc - it's an old open bus typically used to take Brits to the "seaside" in the 1920's. It would be single-deck with a canvass roof.

Comes from the French Charabanc (pronounced Sharabanc with a silent "c" at the end) which was originally a horse drawn carriage with bench seats for a few dozen people.

As time went by and coaches (aka motorcoaches) with enclosed roof and windows came along only the poor would use the charabangs which British pronunciation of "Sharra-bang" (hard "g" at the end) also gives a nod to an old banger or old clapped out vehicle.

portishead congregation in north somerset is being merged or disbanded on sept 1st 2015 due to "aging elders, poor attendance, decrepit kingdom hall and landslip" - of course the suspicion is wt just wants to sell the hall off.

We had Anthony Manning as a CO. My recollection was that he was the last "decent" reasonable CO that everyone warmed to - including me - we've had far worse since. He used to go out with the elders to the pub after the CO visit elders meetings and probably spent too much time in coffee shops (for the borgmasters' liking) with the brothers and sisters in the ministry.

I think he has an aged mother still alive living near the English/Welsh border west of Birmingham that he used to go back and visit straight after every CO visit. I did hear that he had a girlfriend who died when they were young and "courting" and he threw himself into "Jehovah's service". Very sad if true.

Yes, he did seem a bit camp but I don't think it fair to speculate why he was removed and reproved. Who knows? Perhaps he knows the TTATT but keeps his head down?

he would go upstairs, on the premise that he was saying a prayer with his niece, then sexually abuse her.

mark sewell was sentenced to 14 years in prisonafterwards, the elders told her that as it was only her account against that of sewell, nothing more could be done.

1. Please use paragraph breaks.

2. You are wrong in much of what you have written. Most JW's will obey GB direction over what they themselves feel the bible says because they believe the GB are appointed by Jehovah/Jesus to do the interpretation for them.

Further, in child abuse cases the GB have not given new directives to elders that the police/authorities are to be involved and that the paedo must be disfellowshipped - if you have been told this it is from someone who is engaged in wishful thinking or who is trying to mislead you.

Yet further, if you are only getting your information from those who have studied with you then you are about as clued up on real behind the scene JW practices as I am about Catholic ones. You need to get your information from several sources to see what has the ring of truth.

3. I'm sorry to hear of your abuse. The way the Catholic hierarchy acted is the same as JW's isn't it? I believe neither organisation has the backing of any god I wish to serve.

4. There are indeed some very kind, intelligent and deep JW's - but if any one of them were to say amongst their fellow JW's and stick to the view that the GB is not the true channel of God or that JW predictions surrounding 1914 are false or that the 144,000 is definitely not a literal number then they would be disfellowshipped. They can say it to you because you will not "report" them.

in my country one can get dfd for pretty much anything the bullies want to df you for.

but is there any specific guidelines that state one can or cannot be dfd for marrying a non witness.

The effect is cumulative. Several things are coming in together. Look at the drop in Britain baptisms by between a fifth and a quarter. Aux pios down by a third. Look at that west country circuit the Searcher told us about - a cong. disbanded and 6 CoBE's changed with at least two of them off as elders in less than a year. The peak to peak figure has dropped already.

If the "high profile" CoBE elders are getting twitchy/tired/jumping ship then their fellow elders and congregations will surely wonder what's up.

This (2016 service year) could be the "what a let down" year from the hype of 2014 - remember that October 2014, 100th the anniversary of "the end of the gentile times" is the one that is included in this year's (2015 service year) reported statistics, so still a remnant of 2014 fervour spilled over into this 2015 service year.

Next year - if the org dares report it in the current format could be the world wide decrease year. If they don't report it then you can take it as (un) read that it was a decrease year!
