Hi HB,
Fantastic news. Well done to you and to the other person who helped so much.
i hope you are all well.
i haven't posted in a little while.
i've just been adjusting and enjoying my new life outside of the org.
Well done BM.
When she asks what you've read you might respond with "nothing outside of WT literature". And you can quote page and paragraph with the help of jw facts and folk on this site.
As you know there is enough in WT literature to show they don't have the truth. Just all the quotes about "The generation of 1914" and especially the difference and inconsistency between the recent RC "shun and don't pick up the phone video" and the FAQ's on jw org entitled Do Jehovah's Witnesses Shun Former Members of Their Religion? (Look under FAQ/About us/Practices)
And not one word comes from outside sources.

Hi HB,
I remember 1975 as a semi-born in teenager at the time who was daft enough to get baptised the following year (how crazy is that?) so when you talk about the socially awkward lad in your family business I can fully understand that situation.
I remember telling my schoolmates that 1975 was to be the year of Armageddon and of course getting ribbed about it in 1976! But by then the all encompassing "generation that saw 1914" took over and kept me in mentally for at least the next 25 - 30 years!
Did your young girl guide friend - the one from 2008 you were trying to help - become a witness? I do hope not - she seemed such a useful member of society from your description who could do so well. I guess she would be in her late 20's by now.

it appears that new light might be coming down the pipes that beards are acceptable.
@ oppostate
K99 is quite right. You are in New England but here in Old England the R&F will have few problems with having a neat beard. Elders and Min Servs too.
On builds and projects beards have never been a problem nor with volunteering at assemblies too. But higher up the organizational responsibility tree it starts to change.
I used to arrange public talks for the congregation on and off in the 80's and 90s and more recently in the 2000's too and we never had an anti beard rule and nor did most others, but rarely a nearby congregation would let us know that we should not send bearded speakers to them.
There has been an upsurge in beards on younger men and at the moment there is an upsurge of beards on appointed men and I believe it is down to this forthcoming WT article. I hear rumours that Metropolitan trolley cart minders have been approved with beards this last few months after checking with the Branch office.
As is usual "no beards on the assembly" still applies and it will be interesting to see if that changes this autumn as circuit assembly days roll round.
No beards at Bethel has been the rule; if that changes then we might even see them on Regional Conventions but I doubt it!
i've pushed an update to the image handling so they are now served using the webp format if the requesting browser supports it.
currently that is chrome, opera and android mobile but safari is adding support in the next version and there's hope that firefox and edge will get on board soon.. read more about webp.
webp is a newer image format that can replace jpeg, gif and png but with much better compression rates for the same quality.
Absolutely superb work Simon!
Personally I haven't a clue what you just posted but I'm sure the less technically challenged than me will make good use of it.
anthony morris iii was representing gb in international convention in helsinki, finland.
in his final talk he mentioned that at the fight of armageddon jesus will fight together with the 144 000. he then reminds the audience that one angel destroyed 185000 assyrians.
so what are "144 000 immortal creatures together with jesus going to do".
@berrygerry and Blondie
Thanks for that. You'll have to excuse me, I only did the Revelation book three times (with pasted in adjustments and all) so you'd think I would have remembered that as I was a book study conductor for most, if not all!
a non-jw friend of mine told me of her experience at a just concluded regional convention that she went to.
she said that during some announcements after a song, there was an announcement advising the audience to be mindful of the need to safeguard their belongings because not all persons present at the convention are delegates.
she said she was shocked to hear this rather prejudiced announcement that clearly insinuated all non-delegates are untrustworthy and only delegates are honest.
Not that shocking. Everyone there with an intent to listen to the program is a "delegate" aren't they? Now if they'd said "non jehovah's witnesses" I'd agree.

I know it's all bunkum but where is the scriptural support that the 144,000 do any fighting? Angels yes, but 144,000 specifically? Are the 144,000 viewed in dubland as angels now? And if so will it only be the 144,000? What about all the other "myriads" of angels.
I just hope they don't wear tight pants.
i am approaching 76 years old.
i can clearly recall that awake!
statement and similar during the pre-1975 hype -- "staying alive in '75", et al.
Not that you need my endorsement FatFreek. But I have just checked my original single copy of that Awake (22nd May 1969 page 15) and read the sentence you have quoted word for word.
It is accurate and spot on.

Excuse my ignorance but how wide would the audience be for that programme? Is it local or what? From my UK point of view it seemed very professional and not afraid to get stuck in.
As mentioned by previous posters - you can go door to door alone but it it is true that a "known child molester" would always be accompanied. But only if the elders knew about it and if the Branch office instructed them to do so.
And only if the "known child molester" cooperated fully.
