25 YEARS of compiled yearbook statistics
by 88JM inhello again folks - as promised in my last thread here, i've been working on turning yearbook statistics into excel spreadsheets.. coincidentally, today is my 25th birthday (spare a thought for a fader).. i've now updated the spreadsheet with yearbook data all the way back to 1988 (the year i was born), therefore it now contains 25 years of statistics.. there were a lot of countries changing around and for some it was possible to create a continuation of data.
some are a simple change of name like south-west africa to namibia.
others, for example - in 1993 with czechoslovakia splitting into two countries (czech republic and slovakia) i have added an extra row that provides a continuation of the data, combining czech republic and slovakia back together as if they were still one country.

It is September and there is definitely a chapter on "the generation" which tries to "ex-Splane" the overlap. I hope a few wake up as they see it in print and go "WTF?"

I thought I was going nuts ... I was sure there were ten posts or so from xxBBxx and this is borne out by some remnant quotes of her's/his in posters' replies above.
But Simon has explained it.

Any Peugeot owners around here?
by Mandrake ini was wondering since there are a lot of uk users (at first i didn't notice that) if there is some peugeot owners here, clearly not from the us, the brand and also citroën has no presence in north america... in my city (santiago) you can see almost every car brand from chinese to european... in my apartment's parking lot there are toyotas, hondas, a porsche (that is abandoned, a carrera 911 turbo from 1989), even an old lancia, alfa romeo, nissan, renault, citroën, a camaro, suzuki, sköda, bmw, an old mecerdes, daewoos, kias, hyundais, an old vw beetle and a scirocco, few chinese, an audi, a dodge ram.
even a maserati in a house two blocks away etc etc.. and my 307 :)

Peugeot/Citroen Diesel engines go on for ever. They are often used by other manufacturers in their vehicles with slight changes. Since the late 1990's they really took Europe and other areas by storm when they teamed up with Ford and produced the HDi engines in capacities from 1400cc to 3000cc.
You will find their diesel engines in Peugeot, Citroen, Fiat, Ford, Suzuki, BMW Mini, Volvo and Land Rover.
Their electrics however often leave something to be desired.

Thank you WT!
by Mandrake inwell here's the thing... my brother-in-law needed some marketing boost for his dental clinic (i'm a dental student by now, her sister, my girlfriend, also), so i designed some brochures and today they were ready at the print studio.. i told him... "look, i spent 20 years in that cult, they have a very boring message, and they still managed to achieve 7m or more adepts, so i will distribute this brochures in the area this way: just like in field service, drawing some territories and "preaching" block by block... just to know were and when our advertising is being delivered".
so i started preaching the "dental good news", it was so easy compared to field service!!!
everyone were very receptive in the clinic's neighbourhood (it's in a downtown area in santiago, cl).

A sucker is born every minute
by Sour Grapes ini was an elder in the 1970's and i was not a big fan of the "stay alive until 75" dogma.
i was looked down upon by the heavy hitters on the body of elders and in time i changed my mind.
i knew of the failed prophecy of 1914 being the end of all times which was repeated for the year 1925...yet i came to believe well maybe this time they've got it right.. with every new watchtower, i combed over every word to find support for my change in my belief that the end was coming in fall of 1975. at the district assembly in 1975, everyone clung onto every word in the final talk.

Sucker here too! As a teenager I remembered '75, the gap between Adam and Eve's creation, the way that "the generation that saw 1914 (TGTS1914) would have to be of an age of understanding, about age 15" became "TGTS1914 ... age 10".
Then "TGTS1914" just had to be alive in 1914 and then the TGTS1914 masthead disappeared from the Awake! magazine in 1995.
And still I stayed - trussed up in a spider's web of deceit and fear of the consequences of questioning (until several years later). What a sucker!
And now it's the "Overlapping Generation That Saw 1914" - and still the heads bob at the KH and they wait for Armageddy. Some of whom who saw as much as I did and one or two who can go back even further to a 1940's/1950's childhood or conversion as a JW.

Well done BM.
When she asks what you've read you might respond with "nothing outside of WT literature". And you can quote page and paragraph with the help of jw facts and folk on this site.
As you know there is enough in WT literature to show they don't have the truth. Just all the quotes about "The generation of 1914" and especially the difference and inconsistency between the recent RC "shun and don't pick up the phone video" and the FAQ's on jw org entitled Do Jehovah's Witnesses Shun Former Members of Their Religion? (Look under FAQ/About us/Practices)
And not one word comes from outside sources.

Hi HB,
I remember 1975 as a semi-born in teenager at the time who was daft enough to get baptised the following year (how crazy is that?) so when you talk about the socially awkward lad in your family business I can fully understand that situation.
I remember telling my schoolmates that 1975 was to be the year of Armageddon and of course getting ribbed about it in 1976! But by then the all encompassing "generation that saw 1914" took over and kept me in mentally for at least the next 25 - 30 years!
Did your young girl guide friend - the one from 2008 you were trying to help - become a witness? I do hope not - she seemed such a useful member of society from your description who could do so well. I guess she would be in her late 20's by now.
